One of the difference between Indian people and Chinese people is, Chinese really don’t care about their rank, or you agree or not, or how the world think about them…… if they can choose they would prefer the world not recognize their growth, so they can growth peacefully and quietly without being noticed. Their goal is not set to satisfy the world or gain recognition from the world, but to make their lives better and happier.

The funny part is this,... China's GDP reached 3.35 trillion in 2007, same as India's present GDP. Yet, 2007 China is much more developed than 2023 India. All their 2007 human development indexes are better than our 2023 indexes. Am I missing something here?
通货膨胀,07年的钱和23年的钱是不一样的。
That's why we don't use GDP as the sole indicator for growth and development. It is usually paired with other social indicators like HDI to give a clearer picture of a country's development. GDP is a flawed methodology and cannot be used to compare two countries.
three reasons that i can think of: 1) gdp of every nation are calculated differently. 2) concentration of wealth is much higher in India than in China. Top real estate price in 2007 china is no where near 2023 India. 3) There is a huge depreciation of all fiat currency since 2007. Today's 3.35 trillion is actually much less than in 2007.
China's population was lower
Ur missing inflation here. 3.35 trillion has different value in 2007 vs 2023

@@dahang7485 so true. When you run a race, if you look at other runners rather than your own steps, you will never be able to run your best. Simple as that. Growing up, what we are taught all the time is: don’t get distracted by others, work on yourself. China doesn’t want to distract or to be distracted. All it wants is to focus on its own development. That’s also one of the main reasons it develops so fast. It’s those who can not run as fast look at China as a competitor, not the other way around.

The statistics available in the public domain does point out for the first 30 years of 1960 to 1990 India and China GDP were on par with each other. The two only started to drift apart from 1990 onward. India has increased its GDP same as its previous 30 years but China is the one who took off.
China could have been able to move faster in the 1960 to 1990 but from 1950 to 1971 China was economic blockaded by the US after the Korean war. US as the victor of WW2 made sure no country could trade with China. In 1971 the third world countries formed a majority in UN to pass the resolution to replace the US-backed Taiwan , with population less than 24 million, with mainland China, that has 1,400 million population, as the legal representative of the Chinese people. China was then able to trade with the outside. Seeing China was about to open up US president Nixon immediately changed policy and visited China in 1972 to be the first one dominating the huge Chinese consumer market. China joined WTO in 2001. Once China could trade with the rest of the world it develops to what it is today.

Since communist liberation of China in 1949, China's GDP has always been more than India's, because most of the products and services were given out free to the people, those didn't have monentary values attached to them so they weren't counted as GDP.
Free things such as food, housing and clothing were given out freely to the people, and free services such as electricity and medical services, not counted into GDP.
Those are counted as government spending. No need to spin.
@@jkselama9715

@@Anonymous------meaning, only the cost is counted, but the product itself isnt counted.
@@eleethtahgra7182
There was no monetary cost because everything was done without involving money under communism. People were given all the necessities free without involvement with any monetary cost. That was the type of communism then. Money was mostly for buying supplies and resources from other countries. GDP accounting was not done in monetary values but in actual quantities of products.
@@Anonymous------ ah. So while the material product itself is counted, the service isnt counted cos it doesnt appear as money. And therefore, the real gdp is actually higher than recorded cos it doesnt count the free utilities.

What happened in early 1990s would give a good insight as to why China just shot up and India just trickled through. Things are changing tho but there is considerable catching up to do.
I am Chinese. In 1989, China defeated the West's color revolution, which is often referred to as the Tiananmen Movement in the West. In 1990, it suffered comprehensive sanctions from the West, and its relationship with the Soviet Union was not good. In 1992, China determined a path centered on economic construction. To put it simply, this path means not to talk about politics, not to talk about taking the socialist road of the Soviet Union or the capitalist road of the United States, but only to talk about developing the economy, and do whatever can be done to develop the economy. As Deng Xiaoping said, "No matter whether it is a white cat or a black cat, it is a good cat if it catches mice." Since then, China's economy has developed rapidly.
after Deng Xiaoping's economic reform kicked in, there is no competition
In fact, since 1950s, China has been reorganizing and optimizing its assets at the national level, and terminated the premature capitalization and marketization of assets, which reduced variables and interference in the process of asset reorganization, which enabled China to prepare enough reserves for a historic leap and change after it resumed capitalization in 1990s. There is no magic or trick to get an economic rocket out of thin air. You must build a rocket engine first. What happened in the 1990 s and made the outside world curious was often only the moment when the rocket engine was ignited, which was only one-sided.
Things are changing though... change what? Before COVID China GDP was 5 times more and today it's 6 times more. What is changing exactly?
People are overestimating the damage this real estate bubble is doing to China. If anything, it'll encourage Chinese to stop overinvesting in real estate and instead invest in technology. That's where they want to be. And to top it off, with US sanctions and hostility, the timing is good because Chinese will invest in Chinese companies instead of American ones.
The problem in India right now is that Indians are too tied to the US. The very minute most Indians are wealthy enough, they want to invest in the USA instead of their own country. I see wealthy Sharmas bringing their entire families here and investing in American neighbourhoods and companies. I want India to do well, I really do. But many people in the global south are too quick to give up and lose faith in their own countries
I have worked with some good Indian professionals India had some serious social systems issues that need to be fixed first before talking becoming world superpower! It’s not about the volume game!
As a indian I admire China's growth this is miracle
India should not practice Western democracy. This system is not suitable for developing countries, such as India. Multi-party competition and fierce parliamentary fighting will make it impossible to implement national policies and seriously affect national development. No developing country in the world has successfully implemented Western democracy. The reason why China has been able to develop rapidly is because it rejected the Western democratic system, which enabled China to implement correct national policies. China is not a dictatorship. China's national policies are collectively planned by think tanks and are not decided by the president alone. As long as the policies are beneficial to the country, China will be able to implement them smoothly without any opposition parties standing in the way.
@@chankaan888 yes I'm agree with u
First of all, democracy develops the slowest because it requires the approval of most, if not all, people
2nd Countries with communist ideology grow quickly because there is no one to stop them in their country
3. There are many people in India who follow different ideologies and cultures. Therefore the model of Western democracy will not work here
We need a strong central government but the hypocritical western countries lecture us on this also while they never know our country
@@Peinnn. There is a drawback of the democratic system: when opposition parties oppose the policies of the ruling party, they usually consider the interests of their own party rather than the interests of the country. The opposition parties do not care whether the policies are beneficial to the country, and they just want to oppose the ruling party. The result of fierce fighting is harm to national interests. The Western democratic system is not suitable for all countries because the national conditions of each country are different. Western countries use their powerful propaganda capabilities to promote Western systems to the world, and people in many countries have been brainwashed by Western countries.。

In a Democracy, it's hard to get consensus. Powers are distributed, which adds more red tape to the process. China is run by a council where a few dozen powerful members make decisions, which are implemented.

The points you have made are great. I know very well how to speak Hindi, but I am a Bengali and we have a proud history and culture. So we can never accept Hindi imposition. Diversity is something that we cherish in India, it was never a mono-ethnic country.
So Hindi at the cost of other languages and cultures is out of the question. We can never do that with Hindi in India as what China did, erasing other languages for Mandarin. Only a genocidal person can accept it. Our neighbor Pakistan broke up into two because of this reason. Here society is more important than state.
The second point is totally valid. This is due to the strong federal structure in India, where states govts on their own are very very powerful within their jurisdiction. Central govt can only interfere minimally. Its main job is defence, foreign relations, and commerce with other nation. Russia ain't a federation, India is!
You are totally right. Rapid and bloodless unification had good short term effects, while the Chinese revolution allowed sweeping and drastic changes to be carried out in a way that was not possible in India, and China suffered no entrenched elites vying to maintain their position by overthrowing the old order entirely.
It will be interesting to see where China goes from here, since it is only a matter of time before it outscales the United States, which has the strange likelihood of escalating to a conflict.
In the same way entrenched elites in India would not give up their privileges for sweeping reform, neither will the US happily give up its position as economic hegemon. Since this can't be maintained with just economic growth, war becomes the continuation of politics.
