Sign me up. Super excited to finally start this. Been having people tell me for years that I’ve got the right personality for bartending. The fear of having to memorize alllll the drinks has been what’s kept me back. Thankx!
Same! My memory sucks and I’m afraid I won’t be able to remember the drinks, I get overwhelmed and become fearful but it’s 2022 now so time for that to change 🍾💪🏽💪🏽
Been working as a bartender for a little over half a year now. I was also a little worried about learning cocktails, but it dawned on me recently just how much I've learned. A guy asked me how many cocktails I new and just taking a couple seconds I realized that it has to be over 50 or 60. Then I decided to write down each cocktail I knew and counted over 120 recipes. I also realized that a lot of these cocktails are very similar in build. Simply knowing that most cocktails consists of spirits, something sweet and something sour. I did something similar to the second method by punching in the name of each cocktail in a spin the wheel website, spun the wheel and if I got something I felt confident about I removed it from the wheel. If I got something I didn't know I would try and learn it and practice making it (not with real liquor, just water and naming what the water represents). Kept spinning the wheel until there was nothing left.
I'm so grateful that you care enough to do this for us! I'm a brand new bartender, just a week and a half in. This will be extremely helpful. (Weird sidenote: This reminds me of how I learned to tie my shoes when I was little. I couldn't do it until I watched it be done so many times that I had a dream and visualized myself doing it. I tied my shoes no problem the mext morning for school!)
Wow, great analogy for visualizing how to do something and the getting the desired results. It even works when you're not aware you're doing it. Thanks for being here Pruella.
Hey! I'm on my training for the job right now, it has been two days now and everything is so overwhelmed since I have 0 experience in bartending. Any tips, please?
Just signed up and I already love the format of it. I have severe adhd and really struggle with studying. This is detailed and interesting but concise and beginner friendly. For the price it’s great that you pay for lifetime access! You can really tell this guy knows what he’s talking about and loves his job.
My grandmother was a teacher and took me from failing grades as a kid, to straight As. To this day, Im thankful for how much better I absorbed things based on similar principles as yours. She would have me look at a word, say it out loud, sing it and write it. Same concept. Worked like a charm!!
Been following all your videos and from no experience I start bartending tomorrow! You gave me the confidence and knowledge to go out and go for it and I can’t thank you enough
Appreciate your advice. Hey what's been working for me is to break it down by spirit. Tequila - Margarita, Paloma, Siesta, Mexican Firing Sqad Whisky/Bourbon - Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Whiskey sour Vodka - Sex on the beach, Vodka Martini. Gin - Gin and Tonic, Martini classic, Tim Collins, Negroni. etc.. I WAS trying to learn them just based on name.. The ingredients start swirling in my mind fast. This sorta.. by the major spirit thing has been helping me. Im 0 experience btw. Starting bar tending school next week. So Im just getting ahead of the game here.
Thanks for this! I really loved your course, it also helped me get the confidence to get my first job. I had an in with a friend at a Jazz Bar, but if I hadn't studied first and watched your videos I don't think I would've had the confidence to give an interview a shot and claim I knew everything I'd need to know to bartend! Today, a customer called me out though. He said "you must've not been doing this that long" because he asked for a drink with "same rocks" - seems like only old people do it, but that means they want you to make a drink on top of the drink they just drank i guess??
I just got a trail for tomorrow, im trying to cram study to prepare myself- im not looking to be a professional in a day, but with this guys guidance, i feel confident! Thank you for your videos, subscribed!!!
i have experience in bartending but it was at a corporate restaurant that has all their own takes on “classics” so i had to relearn everything for my new job somewhere else
My bar manager will be helping teach me but tomorrow i work my first bar shift with my manager as the lead and im nervous but excited i’ll let you know man this video really helps
You do not understand the level of happiness that I felt when you said flashcards and studying I might only be 13 but my dream is to become a bartender B)
Dream bigger bro. Anyone can pour liquid into a glass and wipe a bar down, not everyone can distill whiskey though. Don't dream of being an employee, dream of being the employer. You'll achieve so many other dreams along the way to get to that big dream.
Thanks Daniela. I'll try to get in and do another one. The issue is that I don't really bartend much anymore. I just do bartender trainings when I have time. We'll see though...
Yes, it certainly does Queen Bee. There is a standard of what is normally poured, but it is a loose standard and different bars have a different idea of what they want to pour for each recipe, and some have no idea and don't eve train their bartenders so they're just pouring anything, which makes for awful drinks. What I give is the most common portions so you have a good solid foundation for making drinks, and then from there you can make small adjustments depending on which bar you work at. Cheers.
Draw, draw, draw! Color the drinks, label ( name of the drinks) and draw and write down the ingredients. Practice every week how to make new drinks. You can do it! 🍷🍸🍹🥂🍾🍻🍺
Hey Sierra, the app and cocktail recipes with the flashcards are inside TheRealBarCourse, so you would need to register and become a part of the tribe first.
Thanks for this video 😁this really helping me out a-lot. im planning to be a bartender and this is really helping me in the decision I have to make and do too become a good bartender♥️

Where do I get the flashcards or what’s the app to use?
The Flashcard App is inside TheRealBarCourse - register.barpatrol.net/get-started12754683
Were you required to take state test to serv?
Yes, I was because I'm in CA. Not all states require it at this point, but the test is easy. You study the material and then take a quick test online.

Hello,
If someone is a new bartender. Would an employer be OK with them using recipes they have written on cards until they get the hang of it ?
Doesn’t the amount of alcohol vary depending on where you bartend?
Yes, it certainly does Queen Bee. There is a standard of what is normally poured, but it is a loose standard and different bars have a different idea of what they want to pour for each recipe, and some have no idea and don't eve train their bartenders so they're just pouring anything, which makes for awful drinks.
