    My grandfather grew up on a farm in Oklahoma. He watched "The Horse Whisperer" and said that movie did an excellent job portraying how to tame and befriend wild or unruly horses. My grandfather witnessed the real thing many times growing up, and was an excellent animal husband. He became a veterinarian via Cornell University because of his love for animals.

    So many comments on here saying he's just a trainer & nothing special. You got all of that from a 2 minute video? Damn, you're clairvoyant. Actually, you don't know squat. Buck is who the trainers go to that can't get a breakthrough. That's how he got the nickname. After gaining trust he seemed to be able to just tell them what to do & they'd do it. He mesmerized world class trainers. Comments are always so much better when the commenter at least knows the subject & can make a real & valid comment.

    HORSES understand words better than expected. They really understand humans.They can recognize emotions in your voice and voice- in similar manner to dogs.

    Buck is a phenomenal roper. Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt were the greatest horsemen. Buck learned from them and mimics Ray in many ways.

    Both Monty Roberts and Buck Brannaman deserve the recognition and public accolades for popularizing this gentle way of forming a bond with a horse. They both deserve the credit for showing others just how sensitivity and intelligent horses are. Otherwise, it might be that far too many horses would still be suffering the "old fashioned" sort of screaming and facial beating I saw a horse taking from a trainer when she had made moves that spooked him. What an idiot of a rider trainer.

    Many people call Monty Roberts the Horse Whisperer. So now I’m confused.
    I never heard Monty refer to himself this way though. I could be wrong. I’ve heard other people say he was though.
    I read Monty’s book when it first came out many many years ago, and he too had a crushing childhood and a brutal father. When he demonstrated he did not have to break a horse, and he could get an untouched horse to willingly accept a saddle and rider in 30-45 minutes without pain, he got death threats and was expunged from the record books. His dad was NOT pleased and punished Monty severely. I wonder if that kind of experience increases empathy with animals
    .
    Buck is just amazing. I really liked this video. Thanks for posting.

    The movie horse whisperer was based on Tom Dorrance. Tom taught Ray Hunt and Ray taught Buck. It's to bad there was no mention of Tom or Ray because without those two, nobody would know who Buck is.

    There are so many people out there today, messing up horses and the horse industry. These are not poodles folks, these are stock animals. I like this trainer a lot and do not think he is a part of it. All he is doing is taking the time to understand the animal, like every good animal trainer does. Believe me, there are times when every trainer may have to, have a "come to Jesus meeting" with some horses. And that, you usually don't or won't see in your clinics or videos! And the reason, a lot of people, after buying all the cds, still have to go to a professional trainer.

    Monty Roberts is a hack. He's a showman/salesman and a horse manipulator. Many of you can't tell the difference between circus tricks and real horsemanship. Buck is one of the most famous, of many true horseman...many of which will never be on TV. All of which are more skilled, with a better understanding of horses than Monty Roberts.

    • @murraydyck2127
      @murraydyck2127 4 роки тому

      Really? Monty Robert's . Monty method is the best . He gets the same results every time he works with a horse . I can't think of a better horseman than Monty . Buck comes a close second. Understanding the body language of a horse is key to making the horse do what you want it to do. Trust is also in play .

      +Naomi Miller they're one and the same but he also uses soft skills, soft-firm movements, and nudges for communicating with the horses. Only the horse can feel it and sense it; you can't see it, feel it, or hear it, hence the "whisper"

      I think he would agree with you, he sorta laughs at the term "horse whisperer" but hey whatever he has bigger fish.

    • @TaiMizuki
      @TaiMizuki 6 років тому

      I totally agree! I too have been called a horse whisperer and to me there is no such thing, it's all about understanding and using kind methods rather than enforcing and sometimes cruel. Granted even horses have a hierarchy but they wouldn't treat their inferiors like we do. The problem with human understanding is that we're too brutal and violent, we don't understand that kicking out and biting isn't truly an intention to hurt but merely to say "I am bigger and better than you, do not challenge me as I can and will hurt you!" 9/10 they don't actually hurt one another unless it's a battle for that rank, a human on the other hand always inflicts pain.

      @@ilovecanines There is no such thing as "Whispering"..It is a term,Made up by Nick Evans to sell a book..You never heard that term,come from the mouths of the men they attribute it too..These men learn Horse behavior and psychology,to communicate with the horse,so the horse can more easily understand and accept,what is being asked of them..
