Here's our recent dinner at Belcanto!
As we always do, we try our best to be as honest and transparent in our videos! Here's our real perspective on Belcanto, and as a reminder, we do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and know that each experience and perspective is unique. Belcanto is a beautiful restaurant, but personally for us, it left us disappointed, from the meal to the service. Again, this is our unique experience here, and wishing Belcanto all it's amazing and continued success!
Thanks for watching, we always appreciate it!
This channel is a gem. Glad you guys aren't afraid to voice your pallet
Thanks!!
At first I thought you guys were just another channel like many others I saw who would never actually say anything comprehensible and objective about the food they ate. So it warms my heart to see a beautiful couple enjoying their time together but also being real about what they feel and eat. Since I think I will never be able to enter this lifestyle myself, i feel welcomed by the way you spoke your feelings and thoughts. Thank you, truthfully.
What a beautiful comment! Thanks so much for sharing that with us :) we’re so happy to share the experiences and give insight into these restaurants!
What is fishy? Only americans use this term. Portugal is a sea nation, expect fish, nobody is gonna hide thr flavor of fish, you embrace the fish
Her experience of the word could mean strong flavor. Maybe overpowering the dish. If the seafood has little seasoning. Than I’ve noticed people bring up fishy. Some people like to taste their seafood with extra flavor. Not just the fish itself.
Certain types of fish behave differently in cooking methods (obviously) some fattier fish (mackerel) become extremely pungent when over cooked because of the fat content. Same with gamier meats, that gamey flavor is in the far mostly so if it's a very fatty piece it can become overpowering or aggressive, ruining subtle nuances of a dish.
ok, you put it in words, not in fishy, fishy is for people that only eat fish when its fried at macdonalds @@pnwbench
Amén! It’s like saying meat tastes meaty or eggs taste like eggs🤣
I just discovered your channel. I went to Belcanto with a Portuguese friend after living in Portugal for 6 years. I generally love Portuguese food, and I've been to a few other Michelin restaurants there is happily recommend, but this one left me cold. The food had nothing I could call 'spectacular', or even generally interesting, and certainly not to a star Michelin rating. The service was also 'robotic' as the waiters repeated exactly the same script to every table. I feel you're impartial and being honest with your reviews, which will garner some negative comments, so don't stop please! ❤ Most who comment haven't been to the restaurant, and live on reputations or 'nationalism' in the same way that success in sports apparently make a nation and each sofa bound individual better.
Hi there! Sorry for the late reply! Thanks so much for your kind words and perspective! Sounds like we both had the same experience, which is unfortunate! And we agree with what you’ve said! Thanks for watching ❤️ and sharing!
@@S3Lifestyle”One dimensional” and “stuck in the past”…is almost exactly what went through my mind and my girlfriends as well. I’m sure this place is treasured by many people! It just didn’t live up to the expectations you’d have for a place with this type of reputation.
I do wish them all of the best of course and it was an honor just being there!
@@stop736 Perfectly said!! :)
I really don’t get these people who feel the need to use all these over-the-top words to describe food. You know the type-they can’t just say a dish is tasty or flavorful; instead, they’ll say it’s "one-dimensional” or “stuck in the past”, "fishy", "flater", "not much tune", like food has some grand storyline we’re all supposed to follow, as if it’s a sin for food to be simple and straightforward. It's like they’re trying to turn every meal into some kind of high-stakes art critique, presuming this idealized non-existent "spectacular" meal should exist in reality.
But in the end, what does it even mean? Good food doesn’t need a lecture or a vocabulary lesson, about how spectacular it is. This people spoil the joy out of eating. The harsh reality the best chefs in the world know is much more simpler then reality lived by people like you which is: food is just food! It’s good or it’s bad. You like it, or you don’t. And if u do, you eat it!
Wow I wish videos were more like this! Honest and thorough. So enjoyable and would looove to hear some more of your restaurant hot takes.
That's so kind Elizabeth, thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed them, means a lot :) More to come, haha!
Amazing video - your honesty is really appreciated! Keep them coming
Why thanks Abyy!! Appreciate the comment too! :)
Always appreciate how real you guys keep it. Another fantastically produced video!
Thanks Damon! Appreciate it :)
Another amazing classy restaurant. ❤
Added to my bucket list. Muito Obrigado for the insider experience
Isn't Foie Gras that the liver has to be 4 times the size? So basically force fed animals with a tube, or is this different at Michelin Star restaurants?
Loved this channel ever since I started watching it many months ago. Don't be so hesitant in criticism! Say it how it is, objectively and with honesty.
Thanks Dennis, appreciate that! Agreed, we're definitely trying our best to be honest with our feedback, but always mindful to be respectful about it too! Thanks for the continued support!!
Your honesty comes through... lamp symbolizing halo helps, too.
Hahha, hilarious 😇Thank you!!
Come on guys 🤦♂Incredible video about a Portuguese restaurant and you start with a Spanish song? Come on 🤷♂
Oops, sorry!! 🫢 Our mistake!
How much the bill?
Fishy…you’re in Portugal, the seafood leader of the world! Viva Portugal!
what does that mean the best restaurant? Who decides it, the one with the best taste, or the other one with the most money to decide? Nouveau Riche stuff!
I found the perfect video to exemplify what I complained about in the Enigma video. This video is shorter, but relaxed and carefully shows the entire experience, as if we were in the restaurant with you. The Enigma video, again, was very rushed.
Thank you for sharing! We’ll try to find a happy balance :)
why is the every dish the server s different
Seems like starting out with a fishy dish was thought through well by the chef.
Great video but first time seeing you guys underwhelmed like this!
Thanks!! And I know… honestly, first time we’ve been this underwhelmed! Haha.
LIDL
