@@DOKH0 bullcrap. Ice Lance does 100 for 20 mana, and doesn't require you to finish the Night of the Raven, works on non-human enemies, deals double damage to fire-based enemies, and obtaining it doesn't require you to sacrifice HP like beliar's runes. It's just objectivelly better.
Counter point, goblins skeleton is one of the best runes you can use. I kid you not but there is not any limit on how many you can summon. Want to summon 30 at once? Go for it. It is especially funny when you summon an army of them and send them to fight a dragon. Goblins are gonna win every time.
Good effort, but this video is very, very much not good for 2 reasons. 1. There isn't always "best" spell, there are several ones that fit different situations or enemies. 2. You seem to choose spells based on raw damage rather than them being cost effective. My best spells: Circle 1 Summon Goblin - that one is correct. Circle 2 - Ice Arrow/Ice Lance - just good and mana cheap damage dealers for enemies with low magic armor. Circle 3 - Small Fire Storm - It's superior to Storm. It's infinitely faster to cast, deals more damage per mana, and you can kill multiple enemies with it if you just use lure them into one place with speed potion. Circle 4 - Lightning - Works the same as Waterfist and is as fast to cast, and deals considerably more damage. No idea why you chose it, seemed like a random choice because you didn't have a better idea XD Honorable mention - Zombie - Good replacement for Goblin, are pretty slow but one is enough to take down a troll, and if you spawn enough, you can kill some dragons. Circle 5 - all those spells are obsolete, because you can learn Circle 6 with vastly superior spells right after getting to 5. Only useful as scrolls. Circle 6 - Wave of Death is simpleast and most effective to use. I like using Cry of the Dead because it's just satisfying to pull of but very risky :D

@@lojlop Sadly, that's not true. Zombies have way more damage and weapon resistance than golems. Golems are weaker in attack and defense, have dumber AI, slower attacks, and most importantly, they attack each other, so you can't really spawn more than one. In addition, you can lose XP because golems can cause fall death, for which you are not awarded. I just ran a test, 3 orc warriors vs 3 golems and zombies, 2 times each. All 3 zombies survived both rounds while killing the orcs. All 3 golems died, while killing no orcs. Not to mention, both cost the same mount of mana to spawn. Conclusion: Zombies are the indisputable winners :) You can kill dragons with them, and so on.
I've done many dozens of mage runs as it is my favourite class to replay gothic 2 and im a huge spell nerd 🤓. Best circle 4 spell is actually summon zombie, and as far as projectile spells go - lightning has higher damage and more importantly it dosen't have trajectory and velocity issues water bending has. Every other circle is spot on.
could be...I don't play mage that often, and that list is more like what I use, Since I don't use half of the runes when I play it..... so if you play it alot more then you probably are correct
Wave of the death is undoubtedly the most damaging rune. Even though it has similar stats to fire rain, the wave hits enemies multiple times. The best way to test is use it against a troll. One wave and the troll is dead. Fire rain only takes half health away from a troll. So it takes 2 shots to kill 1. Also fire rain sometimes doesn't kill demons and orc elites. They survive with a bit of health. On the flip side Fire Rain has one of the shortest casting times for an AoE spell
@@DOKH0 Btw what do you think about those 2 polish Gothic 2 mods which are still in development? I'm talking about History of Khorinis and Chronicles of Myrtana. Frankly, I'm not that interested in mods but these 2 look very promising and they are going to be faithful to the storyline

Honestly for 2nd circle i would pick ice lance as it's usefulness remains till later in the game where you find fire enemies and you can even kill dragon snappers due to its fast rate of attack, it's one of the best counters for fire lizard, also we need to consider mana efficiency which is fine for this spell. For 4th circle i would say lightning mainly because at this point you need to kill orcs and lizard men quickly and this does it, also kills skeletons in one shot, however i have a question here: because you only have 4th circle when fighting dragons, what rune would be considered the best to use in those situations?( obviously i know you have scrolls of fire rain and demon but sticking to runes only) I would think golem but i haven't played mage in a while. With and without Beliar runes although i usually just take the exp. Thank you for the video!
Actually most of the 4th circle runes are underpowered especially when we face dragons in chapter 4. The charging spells are totally redundant in G2(especially NotR) because of their insanely high mana usage and propotionally mediocre damage
@@DOKH0 I agree with that. The dragons in NoTr are unrealistically spongy and they can stun lock you with their fire breathing attack. It is especially a pain to kill them with a melee only build because when you get close enough they send you flying away 😂
Big fan of Ice Block, I like to incapacitate my foes so I can use a sharp instrument on them. Even if that's not very mage of me. But it also lets you steal runes! :) Overall though, will agree that Storm is better.
never thought of that i'm not a mage too often, I only like wind fist because its funny when you throw people around with it i guess thats why its good

But what you do when some mate is following you? And there os no pvp so what you COULD kill his skeletons. NPCs cant. Summon spells are easly the easyiest way to complete the game
The second circle - Steal Energy rune is one of the best spells in the whole game, even tho it works only on human NPC, with one use (which costs only 30mana) you can kill everyone because it's bugged. No matter how much HP or magic protection NPC has, this spell will take whole his health and leave it with one 1HP, (you can kill if you use the spell twice) in addition to this overpower skill, it heals your HP to the max too. And for the last circle, in my opinion, Army of Darkness is much more useful than Fire Rain, by summoning 12 skeletons you can basically kill everything on your way + skeletons can body block monsters, and because the duration of the skeletons is longer than the fire rain, you don't have to spam mana potions every use.
I have to agree on summons, it's not that much fun cause in vanilla version it's overpowered, I remember that I used goblin rune to kill dragons and didn't need anything else until the last two chapters
Beliars runes are made when you get ''Claw of Beliar'' you can pick 1 of them at beliars shrine while praying, and you can switch when ever you want, the water ones you can learn to make the rune from water mages when you go to Jharkendar

Summoning daemon is also powerful. Enough to kill every enemy which is funny because daemon should be weaker than dragon
That's the only place i would use a demon over any other spell, just because it can kill dragon
Fire rain is the best spell. After reaching 300 mana you can cast it twice in a row. Any opponent falls from 2 spells. Irdorat seemed to be ease walk.

That's what I did my last playthrough as mage, until I could get good spells or claw of beliar ones....I just made my mana high and spam goblins lol

maybe to be honest I just don't like summons that much, I don't even remember what I used last time because I was a mage
