    I absolutely love river rapids rides. They are my second favorite non-coaster Intamin attraction model (after their drop towers.) I don't ride them every time I go to a park but most of the time I do. I love when they have some theming or a nice setting. This really should be a staple of every park, or at least theme park resort. These are one of the best rides to go on when you visit a park with a group.

    I think one reason I like these rides so much is that my wife and kid love them, so they can be some of the most intense rides that I can actually share with my family. Riding big coasters is a solo activity for me these days, but raft rides are about the fun of everybody getting soaked together. And you usually get thrown in with some temporary friends in another party too. It's a communal thing.

    Great video!
    To this day, there's not a defunct ride I miss more than Canyon River Rapids. Absolutely legendary ride. No "Russian Roulette" with that one. You were getting drenched and that was that. Still have my on-ride vhs tape from a visit back in 03'!
    Of the current rapids rides, Infinity Falls is a big winner, imo. Waited in line for Mystic River falls for about 30 minutes last summer, didn't move more than a few feet, and decided to bail. Looked fantastic, though.

I was at SDC for 2 days last September and it was down 90% of the time. We had a return time & it happened to open for about an hour and we snagged a ride. It was great. One of my favourites is Bengal Rapid River at Bellewaerde. Not so much for the ride itself, but for the way the rafts are made. It's like ' triangle shaped rafts put together and are only conjoined in the middle. Because of that, the rafts move up and down more and more water can get inside of the raft.

    Lost River was a great river rapids ride from what many have told me, Mystic River is only a marginal improvement but has the MASSIVE disadvantage of having a PAINFULY SLOW turn around which makes the wait way too long for this kind of ride.

    Toward the end I was afraid that for some reason you had failed to include River Quest, but to my relief it comes in at #1. Without a doubt the best rapids ride on earth. I watched for a while from various places and finally made myself go on it. I was soaked but not unhappy I did it.

    Disney's Kali River Rapids gets a lot of grief, and it is near the bottom of my personal ranking, but I think it's still worth experiencing just to see the beautiful queue (maybe the best queue at Walt Disney World) and to ride that drop. When it comes to rapids rides, I prefer ones with more rapids instead of waterfalls and effects. Thunder Canyon at Dorney Park is an exception. It's pretty much all waterfalls. There's a few sections of rapids that get you wet which is nice. It's a lot of fun. It's pretty aggressive too. The boats spin a lot and they go through the river pretty fast. Roaring Rapids at Magic Mountain is another good one. I like that is has multiple sections of rapids. Thunder River at Over Georgia is ok. There's only one section of rapids. However, that section gets you SOAKED! So it makes up for it. Shipwreck and Canyon River Rapids are great choices. Both have a nice combination of rapids and water effects. Congo Rapids at Great Adventure is a favorite of mine. I believe it's the oldest one in operation too. It's certainly not the best.... but I would rank it higher than some of the more popular ones. It's a true rapids ride. Two great sets of rapids. Both of them get you pretty wet. Sometimes drenched. Anyways, great video. It's nice to see.

    Having watched a couple of your videos now I have the following advice: you really need to match up your footage and/or pictures with what you're saying better (or actually have some pictures/footage of what you're saying) so that when you reference particular things you show them. It's more work and takes longer, I get that, and finding footage of more obscure rides is harder and might need permission that could delay the video, I get that too - but it would make a much better video and a much nicer viewing experience. For the weirder (Splash UFO) or obscurer rides where showing what you're telling is far more essential it would be especially welcome. Sorry to pick, mate, the countdowns themselves (as in script) are great and highlight some great hidden gems.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for the feedback. I only started taking video footage myself in the past year. For anything before that, I just have photos to leverage or I'm reliant on the work of others. For some of the obscure rides, it's a struggle to find footage that I can get permission to use so I'm a bit hamstrung there. I will definitely work to improve the visuals if there's a ride I have enough footage for though!

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 роки тому

      The river rapids ride is on that awkward dead end path that runs between the lake and the return run of Boulder Dash. It gets even less traffic now that the sky ride up the mountain was removed. I think the long-term plan is to complete a path around the lake and add a coaster down there.

    • @StamfordBridge
      @StamfordBridge 3 роки тому

      Canobie Coaster I walked down that path to the end, where there’s a train station. I waited for the train and rode it around the lake. Totally blanking on remembering a rapids ride anywhere. "U.F.O." is a well known in Japan brand of instant noddles called "Yakisoba", from Nissin, the same people who make those noodle cups you can buy for $1 at the supermarket.
    The brand has a well known mascot of "UFO Kamen Yakisoban", a super hero in the vein of franchises like Super Sentai (the show Power Rangers is made from) and Kamen Rider. his arch-nemesis is a villain known as the Kettler... hence the giant kettle on the ride, who wants to steal people's kettles so they can't make noodles.
    For a time, the Kettler was actually more popular and took over as the main spokesman.

    I think you are overrating RiverQuest massively here. The issue with RQ is that each drop progressively has less and less effect. The first is a soaker, the second a fair soaker... and the last does nothing before you just gently float for several minutes until you get off. It's a unique ride, but not the best at all. It's not even my favourite in Europe. Not to mention the fact the ride has periods of downtime and poor capacity.. Of course, RiverQuest is indeed be one of the better rapids rides in Europe - but I actually find some of the more 'normal' Intamin rapids rides to be more enjoyable - maybe I am a bit vanilla!
