My sister took me on the Jurassic Park ride, We were behind a group of 4 adults and a group of 12 kids. We ended up sitting next to 6 of the kids. Just as the boat left the dock, My sister said loud enough for the Adults to hear, "When the T Rex Attacks, we are feeding the kids to it." We missed two or three of the early Dinosaurs because we were laughing so hard.
great list! loved your reasoning. but i simply cannot rate splash mountain or rise of the resistance higher than harry potter and the forbidden journey, my favorite ride of all time! even after riding rise of the resistance very recently, forbidden journey still remains my number 1 (rise breaks a lot, and it always has an extremely long line). i won’t deny that rise blew my mind with the immersion, but there was something about it that just didn’t live up to forbidden journey for me. i looooooove the use of the arm ride system; it’s soooo unique and one of a kind. keep up the good work!
Great list, here is my list by your rules 1 Vliegende Hollander (where does this one rank for you? I was really suprised it didnt made it) 2 Symbolica 3 Valhalla 4 Droomvlucht 5 Fatamorgana 6 Flying Dreams 7 Hex 8 Geisterica 9 Indianna River 10 Maus au chocolate
Vligende Hollander was closed for most of my time at Efteling. When it reopened, I was in line for Joris and couldn't get over there before they closed the queue. I like most of the rides on your list.
My all-time favorite dark ride is Disney's HAUNTED MANSION/PHANTOM MANOR. I hope Universal tries to top it at their third Orlando park! Pirates is better in Disneyland than at Disney World. Splash is better at Disney World. I haven't yet been on Rise of the Resistance or Avatar Flight of Passage, and an honorable mention to 4 of Disneyland's little dark rides: Mr. Toad, Alice, Peter Pan & Pooh.
spoilers, but Mario Kart, if you ever make a point to ride it, is an INSANELY good dark ride and a really good shooting ride. Even if you can't enjoy the AR, the physical sets and homages to existing Mario Kart tracks, and the finale is insane.
I don’t like Flight of Passage being on this list since it’s a flying theater, even tho it’s one of my fav rides at Disney. Other than that, great list!
I know it's coaster based but I still consider HP and the Escape From Gringots a dark ride. If not for the stunning 3D visuals it wouldn't even be worth riding. That Winnie The Pooh ride looks exactly like M & M's Runaway Railway, which is excellent.
Really great list. Glad to see Men in Black so high, I low-key love that thing. Midway Mayhem, though, less so - it's a lot of fun, but the execution seems pretty lazy. I have to get to the Emirates soon, I didn't realise until recently how many great dark rides are there.
How did you not include Escape from Greengotts? The tilt-coaster sensation is so cool, with a lapbar no less. I wondered what the click baity Gravity Max would feel like, now I know. I personally would also have Wonder Mountain's Guardian on my list as well because of it's ending, currently the world record holder for tallest drop track element. Yea, I kinda have a bias for physical thrill elements as opposed as on-screen simulation of a thrill.
Wonder Mountain Guardian's ending is amazing, but the screen section is decent which holds it back compared to the rides on this list. Escape from Gringotts is fun. It probably would have been in the next 5-10 on this list.
FoP is not a dark ride. It's a motion simulator. Also I don't consider ToT a dark ride. It's a drop tower first. Fun to see some dark rides I didn't know existed. Loved that.
@@CanobieCoaster "vehicle (physically) moving through show scenes" is what I count as dark rides. So by that definition FoP is not a dark ride. Curious to hear what your definition is. :)

Putting that stupid fun house ride there is preposterous. Especially after leaving out Peter Pans Flight and Haunted Mansion. That last one is especially unforgivable. For shame, good sir, for shame...
Haunted Mansion just barely missed the list. The next three would have been Pirates in Batavia, Haunted Mansion, and Geisterschloss (Europa). Unfortunately, I missed Droomvlucht. I didn't realize Efteling closed queue lines early, so I missed that one by the time I got to that side of the park. I didn't have as much time as I wanted at Efteling since I was on a work trip and only had a half day available. I really liked Arthur and the innovative ride system, but I preferred the other dark rides in terms of their set design.

We ended up sitting next to 6 of the kids.
Just as the boat left the dock, My sister said loud enough for the Adults to hear, "When the T Rex Attacks, we are feeding the kids to it."
We missed two or three of the early Dinosaurs because we were laughing so hard.
great list! loved your reasoning. but i simply cannot rate splash mountain or rise of the resistance higher than harry potter and the forbidden journey, my favorite ride of all time! even after riding rise of the resistance very recently, forbidden journey still remains my number 1 (rise breaks a lot, and it always has an extremely long line). i won’t deny that rise blew my mind with the immersion, but there was something about it that just didn’t live up to forbidden journey for me. i looooooove the use of the arm
ride system; it’s soooo unique and one of a kind. keep up the good work!
Thanks! Harry Potter is excellent too.
Mystic manor at Hong Kong Disneyland is very impressive for the technology especially since it came out in 2013
I've heard that ride is amazing. I've intentionally avoided watching a POV.
Great list, here is my list by your rules
1 Vliegende Hollander (where does this one rank for you? I was really suprised it didnt made it)
2 Symbolica
3 Valhalla
4 Droomvlucht
5 Fatamorgana
6 Flying Dreams
7 Hex
8 Geisterica
9 Indianna River
10 Maus au chocolate
Vligende Hollander was closed for most of my time at Efteling. When it reopened, I was in line for Joris and couldn't get over there before they closed the queue.
I like most of the rides on your list.
@@CanobieCoaster Oh that sucks, i hope you will get there sooner or later!
I hate those spinning tunnels that’s why I barely do fun houses anymore I always feel like I’m going to pass out
I love them since they're disorienting (and I enjoy that feeling).
My all-time favorite dark ride is Disney's HAUNTED MANSION/PHANTOM MANOR. I hope Universal tries to top it at their third Orlando park!
Pirates is better in Disneyland than at Disney World.
Splash is better at Disney World.
I haven't yet been on Rise of the Resistance or Avatar Flight of Passage,
and an honorable mention to 4 of Disneyland's little dark rides: Mr. Toad, Alice, Peter Pan & Pooh.
I agree the Disney World Splash Mountain is better than California's. The story is much better in Florida.
i love florida's haunted mansion the best!
awesome
Thanks!
spoilers, but Mario Kart, if you ever make a point to ride it, is an INSANELY good dark ride and a really good shooting ride. Even if you can't enjoy the AR, the physical sets and homages to existing Mario Kart tracks, and the finale is insane.
The Mario Kart ride is quite good. Super unique.
@@CanobieCoaster wait you rode it
Maus au chocolat isn’t a knockoff at all, it just uses the same manufacturer for the ride system.
I agree it's a great ride. I've just heard it called that often.
Not surprised to see Disney take the top 6 spots.
Me neither.
Isn't it weird how people wish Test Track was *less* immersive? I'm one of them!
Oh!
Love dark rides! How was traveling in Abu Dhabi? Looks like some good rides at that park!!!
The UAE was a very safe country. I used Uber and taxis to get around since they were cheaper than in the US and all the cars were super nice.
1. Vliegenden Hollander
2. Piraten in Batavia
3. Merlin's Quest
4. Symbolica
5. Arthur
6. Droomvlucht
7. Street Mission
I need to get on Flying Dutchman. It had a ton of downtime last time I went to Efteling.
@@CanobieCoaster That's a shame. It really is a special experience! Hope you'll be able to see for yourself soon!
I don’t like Flight of Passage being on this list since it’s a flying theater, even tho it’s one of my fav rides at Disney. Other than that, great list!
I think it's head and shoulders above the other flying theaters, which is why it's the only one on this list.
I know it's coaster based but I still consider HP and the Escape From Gringots a dark ride. If not for the stunning 3D visuals it wouldn't even be worth riding. That Winnie The Pooh ride looks exactly like M & M's Runaway Railway, which is excellent.
Gringotts qualified for this list, but it just barely missed it.
I like the Harry Potter forbidden journey, Spiderman, and the avatar ride the most.
Those ones are all great.
Really great list. Glad to see Men in Black so high, I low-key love that thing. Midway Mayhem, though, less so - it's a lot of fun, but the execution seems pretty lazy. I have to get to the Emirates soon, I didn't realise until recently how many great dark rides are there.
There are a lot of good ones at Motiongate and Ferrari World too that didn't make this list.
Lol I’ve ridden a bunch of these on the list but my 2 personal favorite aren’t on here
Gobbler Getaway and Whacky Shack? I love both rides for how corny they are, but they couldn't compete with the big budget rides on this list.
@@CanobieCoaster yup those rides, and ik that we just like different things in dark rides but I still find it funny
I like your list all because of Rise of the Resistance. It should be the best dark ride in the world.
It's an amazing ride.
every one at TDS/TDL made it on the list, right? Pooh's Hunny Hunt, 20,000 leagues, Journey, Sindbad, Toystory mania, :)
and watching now. . love that I was correct for the most part :P
Journey was closed when I was there, but it would have likely placed highly had it been open.
A shame you never got to see the funhouse at Blackpool pleasure Beach before it burnt down. But you did get to see what replaced it with Valhalla.
That's a bummer.
Okay hear me out. Haunted mansion... but only at Christmas time
The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay is cool.
I don’t like Fun House But My Favorite Dark Ride is Meow Wolf’s Kaleidoscape at Elitch Gardens
I want to get on that one. It looks trippy.
What's the fastest Dark ride?
Not sure. I guess Test Track.
I think that area51 in MoviePark Germany Has to be in this list
It makes my water rides list.
What about the seven dwarfs mine train in magic kingdom
The dark ride section doesn't take up over half the ride.
Tower of Terror is very fun even though it’s been a long time since I’ve ridden it
I love all versions of that ride.
Shame you didn't have a chance to try Horizons or the original Journey into Imagination.
I did ride the original Joruney to Imagination when I was a kid. My dad filmed a partial POV I posted on my channel.
FoP is not a dark ride. It's a motion simulator. Also I don't consider ToT a dark ride. It's a drop tower first. Fun to see some dark rides I didn't know existed. Loved that.
Dark ride is definitely up for some argument depending on what you count, much like a coaster credit.
@@CanobieCoaster "vehicle (physically) moving through show scenes" is what I count as dark rides. So by that definition FoP is not a dark ride. Curious to hear what your definition is. :)
@@remconet Pretty much anything indoors with at least 50% of the ride having thematic elements (screens or sets).
@@remconet the original ToT in orlando features a ride thru a set
...so..where is Droomvlucht (Dreamflight)and Fata Morgana in Efteling..
Those are great, but they didn't make the list.
@@CanobieCoaster poor taste
I was really surprised Escape from Gringots didn’t make the list. It’s at least as amazing as Forbidden Journey and a wilder ride.
I much prefer Forbidden Journey myself.
@@CanobieCoaster I absolutely agreed the first half dozen times I road each, but then Gringotts started to grow on me more and I like it a bit better now. Go figure :)
Everyone says i can handle FJ. I do love Gringotts. And cosmic rewind. I am a chicken but I do want to conquer all HP world rides when i visit the park in a few months, and if I’m lucky- hopefully Mummy
Before watching: Every time a Disney dark ride comes up take a drink!
I hope you're drinking water because there is a lot of Disney.
@@CanobieCoaster I am under 21 so water will do!
I’m curious where Soarin’ and Mystic Manor rank.
Unfortunately, I have not been on Mystic Manor yet. Soarin' is a ride I enjoy, but it wouldn't have been near this list. Maybe closer to 50?
I miss Ratatouille at Disney Studios Paris, Droomvlucht at Efteling and Voletarium at Europapark.
Fun rides, but I prefer these.
have you been to universal Singapore?
Unfortunately, I have not.
@@CanobieCoaster are you ever planning on going there ? I found it to be a really nice park
@@aussiecoasterenthusiast7561 Yes, eventually.
I feel like Harry Potter deserved somewhere more high
It's a fantastic ride.
Putting that stupid fun house ride there is preposterous. Especially after leaving out Peter Pans Flight and Haunted Mansion. That last one is especially unforgivable. For shame, good sir, for shame...
I like Haunted Mansion a lot, but the uniqueness of that fun house is why I love it so much.
No Haunted Mansion?? (Do you consider it a haunt?) Droomvlucht? Arthur?
Haunted Mansion just barely missed the list. The next three would have been Pirates in Batavia, Haunted Mansion, and Geisterschloss (Europa).
Unfortunately, I missed Droomvlucht. I didn't realize Efteling closed queue lines early, so I missed that one by the time I got to that side of the park. I didn't have as much time as I wanted at Efteling since I was on a work trip and only had a half day available.
I really liked Arthur and the innovative ride system, but I preferred the other dark rides in terms of their set design.
Canobie Coaster Well, I think we differ a lot when it comes to dark rides (which is odd given that we’re close on parks and other rides), but thanks for the answer.
@@StamfordBridge No problem. I tend to love dark rides with innovative ride systems that add spinning/motion with giant practical sets.
Canobie Coaster Whereas anything with screens, shooting, and superheroes will not wow me.
@@StamfordBridge I don't mind screens and shooting if they're done well. But in general, I prefer large practical sets/effects.
Did you ride DBGT when you visited Thorpe Park?

Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Yes, it's on here!
Ahhh yes I completely skipped over it somehow 😂
The Vliegende Hollander is my favourite
Unfortunately it was closed when I passed it at Efteling.
You should have put Monster Mansion at six flags over Georgia on the list
That's a fun one, but not on the level of these rides.
Bro didn't include Droomvlucht and Fata Morgana from Efteling and made a top 25 dark rides in the world video!
I do like those rides even though they are not on this list.
Rise of the Resistance looks #1 no competition!
For me, it is.
Piraten in Batavia not mentioned is a crime!
That's a very good one. This was filmed before I rode the updated version.
The pirate in shanghai is just unfair.
I need to get there.
@@CanobieCoaster it's basically Forbidden Journey with water effects.
If you had rode Pirates in Shanghai it would be #1
That ride is on my bucket list.
As of last week they are not retheming splash mountain
They never gave a timeline for it.
In the summer of 2016, I was debating between the San Francisco area with Six Flags Discovery Kingdm and California's Great America or the Dallas-Fort Worth area with just Six Flags Over Texas. I chose Six Flags Over Texas only because it had Yosemite Sam's Gold River Adventure because I was worried that ride may soon be gone with its age and the addition of Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. When was the last time you heard of someone going to a park just because of a simple dark ride?
I didn't know Yosemite Sam's existed before my first visit to Over Texas, so it was a very pleasant surprise for me.
So mad that splash mountain is going away!!!!😡😡😡
At least the Japan one is staying!
Where would Voletarium and Arthur rank?
Voletarium wasn't near this list. Flying theaters are fun, but I'm more wowed by practical sets. Arthur was close, but it was in the 30-40 range.
