Hi Lexy! Great video! My wife and I are brand new to this world and are hoping to do videos of paintings and dolls so we don't need tracking too much, though we will do some outdoor action vignettes. What we do need is the ability to zoom in and highlight certain features, but haven't seen anything yet about ZV-1's zoom ability - can it zoom??
I love the camera, the video quality is amazing in 4k and 1080p. I use the PP1 (movie) profile all the time. I vlog my hikes with it and I use a small jobi mini tripod which makes up for the missing wideangle.
This was a really good review. Thank you... I have made up my mind. Purchase made. I've been using the Canon RX7 Mark II. I really look forward to using this. Thanks again.
Would this camera work to create yoga videos and to use for yoga zoom classes? I haven't seen anyone put this camera a few feet away from their body for a full body shot. Any help would be appreciated.
Wow, what a great camera, and great review, basically answered all the questions I had about this point and shoot. I'll probably get one for my retro tech vlogs. Thanks!
No doubt it's a beautiful looking camera and capture device for video. No doubt Sony is a leader in that respect. No doubt about anything. Except one thing. The nice little additional pistol grip, selfie stick, quickie tabletop tripod. Ain't got no, gimbal, stabilization. Gimbal stabilization gives you that, professional Steadi-Cam, look. Not all jiggly. Like it currently appears. As lovely as the picture may be. It is not stabilized. And so still looks like, amateur hour time. Without a 3 axis gimbal stabilizer. Down, left ride, tilt love, tilt) you don't get that with that cute little selfies stick that's not a selfie stick. It's less than a selfie stick. They say size doesn't matter. Wanna' bet? So, my selfie stick is a, 8 foot long, Jimmy Jim homebrew. Boom arm. With a robotic pan and tilt head. Then 100+ pounds of barbell counterweights at the back. It's big. It can knock people over like a bowling ball knocking over bowling pins. When people get in the way. Whoops. Sorry about that chief. Didn't miss you by that much. When they stumble around your enormous boom arm while you are making a move. It's precious. And it can leave a bad impression on their mind. When you hit them in the head with a huge boom arm. And but which they also needed. When shooting rock 'n' roll bands. With a video camera not a gun. A video camera that resembles some huge military cannon. And that's why I like doing audio best. I only get to hit me in the head. RemyRAD
Thank you for putting together such a well thought out review for this camera. I'm in the middle of considering this for my channel because the GoPro 8 Black leaves a lot to be desired for closeup details. Thank you!!
Good informative review. Yeah, I agree with just about every other reviewer that the focal length, especially with the active image stabilizer on, is just too tight when it comes to vlogging because you want to show your audience your surroundings as much as possible and not dominate the frame with a face. With a 1" sensor, it may be difficult to get much wider than 24mm without barrel distortion (this happened on the RX0 Mark II).
@@LexySavvides I am lying in my bed watching this on my laptop and I had to move my laptop a little further away because it felt like you were in my face lol. If it was a little wider it would have been perfect, I might still get this though.
Thanks Lexy. I picked up this at the end of July and haven't used it yet because the weather in NYC has been so hot. Your review made me feel much better about my choice.
Hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to film! (Oh yeah and definitely turn on that auto power off temp to high so it doesn't stop filming when it's hot outside!)
I like the camera, however I want long battery life, so I am returning it. Maybe in the future, they will have better battery life and I will purchase that one.
@@MentalManasulo hey, I dine a quick first impressions video already however, I have much more I want to get into soon. The camera is amazing for the price, video and picture quality is great. Are you using it for your channel?
Great video.. hopefully pulling the trigger on this camera this week... big investment for a channel making no money but believe it will take my content to the next level 💪🏽
Is that high-frame rate mode still in 4K? If so, that's really impressive (and way better than most competitors that I know of). This is a great product review for this camera. I'd have liked more photo/video clip samples, but great review overall.
hello everyone . I just bought a sony ZV-1 first of all i don’t have all the settings that you have in yours videos regarding this camera . Every time i ve tried to film 4k the video is on purple background (i al no photography or video expert)
I still can’t decide, which camera is best for beginners but with broad flexibility... (not me, I‘m just buying and tutor the stuff for my workplace). Is it the M50 with impeccable ease of use, but 30min Timelimit, which people tend to forget while shooting, needing a ND filter, when it gets too bright, no clean HDMI out for streams, no USB powering... or the ZV-1 with all inclusive (ND, clean HDMI, no time limit, tally light, USB power), but no touch menus, horrible menu system with weird abbreviations (PP1 to 7, really?) and non accessible SD card... I really don’t know. What’s your intuition on this matter?
Just got this and it is very good. I can certainly see how the FOV could be a deal breaker for those who are doing a lot of walk and talk video. In my case, I do none of that so there really is no downside for me. My requirements were, can I stick in my pocket when I am on vacation and does it have great picture quality for the price. So far I can't complain. I would say it is expensive, but that is relative and it seems you can't do much better for price and quality in a compact point and shoot camera.
I like the colors and the image processing of the sony. However, it should have had a touchscreen and a larger battery. To be honest, a top brand smartphone comes pretty close to the Sony. You always have a smarphone with you and it is mild fun
I find that this camera combined with iPhone 12 pro max can pretty much conquer the world of amateur videography. Unless you do a lot of swimming, diving or anything that means you’re immersed in water for a long time.
I have a question. Cause I can't find the answer. Takeing photos at night or even video. Can you see the moon kind of clear or even the sky? Like good night photos and video?
But a smartphone stabilisation is only on the rear which doesn't give you video feedback you might even loose the whole clip if it spas out for some reason
Sony should offer an Firmware Upgrade to Keep The Cropping Down on Active Track or create an add on Lens that the Osmo Pocket uses to increase the width of the Lens Shot..
iPhone comparison just proved having a phone is plenty and fancy cameras should stay only in professional hands. Completely redundant for majority of people
it is so far the best reviews I've seen on Sony ZV-1, thank you! How much would a battery + charger cost? and have you had any rolling shutter effect when panning with it? would it be a good camera for dance videos? (both outdoors and indoors, also lowlight)
This video quality is amazing, Did you do a lot of editing to it as far as color? because I am about to go get one right now, please let me know, thank you.
Hi, Lexy! Is there a setting for turning the camera on when you flip the screen or does it automatically do this? And can I shoot videos while having it charge through a power cord with the battery inside?
Hi Maria! I've since had to send the camera back to Sony, but from memory, I think the camera does turn on when you open the monitor, and you can definitely set it to power off when you close the monitor! I've just gone through the user manual and I don't think you can shoot while the battery is charging.
