Yes Tom, there you are... not only in the fountainhead, but a fountainhead in your own right... Thanks for all you have given us, the generations following you and your wife's wake.
It was a great pleasure meeting you and Ros here in Norway, especially being able to help you find the documentation and drawings for Saari. To see your reaction was wonderful.
Tom that my friend is an amazing story. Thanks so much for sharing. I sincerely hope people can appreciate the seriousness of this story.....most true sailors. Will.
Just now finding your channel. Really enjoying it! Thank you! This particular one brings tears to my eyes. The truth of it all is there at the beginning. Really quite marvelous!
Wow what a great discovery for you Mr Cunliffe! So glad that you able to confirm this history of your beloved boat. Now, are you going to tell us why you eventually sold her? ☺️👍🏼
Managing to find the source, the original plans, the provenance - a real Colin Archer - and details of your old - Super boat... priceless, a gift, it lifts you up... so good. It will have been a great thing, and we can tell. But the Quest is not finished! We'll look forward to you telling us about her whole history! And was she originally called Saari? Really great videos, many thanks. Watched all your Vlogs with enthusiasm.
A first boat, a boat that was dry and balanced, a boat that had a beautiful wooden interior or a boat with a true running engine or perfect rig- but we make the boat while the boat makes us and a better marriage you cannot have. Thank you for sharing both of yours.
Not as such, no. We owned her back in the Seventies and never took any cine film. It's an interesting thought though and I may be able to put something together with old photos. Tom
I remember people talking about Colin Archers when I grew up in Sweden. Back then it was a bit derogatory I guess - not very fast and maybe old? Nice to get this insight of their history!
We have searched diligently and not found her. Neither have the Colin Archer people in Norway. If anybody has a clue where she might be, please let us know. Tom
There is at least one other 32” Colin Archer pilot cutter built on order to Finland, the ”Pitkäpaasi”. They made a documentary film about her ”Four lifes on seven seas” by Jouko Aaltonen”, i think you can order the film, you can find it in Google. Btw Saari means island..
Plz try an do a follow up on this tom were is she now an what as become of her now I'd love to know great watching all your shows mate I lost my dad few months back an your videos at 3 in the morning when I can't sleep take my mind of it all massive fan
Hi Jerry. Sorry to hear about your dad and I'm pleased to keep you company in the small hours. Sadly, Saari has never been heard of since I sold her. I'd love to know what happened to her. Tom
Because she was our only home at the time, we were starting a family and she just wasn't going to be big enough. We tried for a month or two, but nappy changing on the chart table finally broke the dream. Thanks for asking. Good question.
Thanks to you, Tom, and to you Michael Hagger. Maritime history is so well worth preserving and many of us are thankful to you for this.

You can now enter your house justified Tom -- very pleased for you.
👍HOORAY‼️
So Colin Archer is the Stradivari of boatwrights. Interesting, that in both cases, living trees were the source.
I subscribed
Great news but what happened to her?
I really really wish...
You must be a Divvy when it comes to finding great boats.
this is like finding a child you gave up for adoption

Do you regret selling her?
The question has to be asked if she was so damn good why did you part with her?
Because she was our only home at the time, we were starting a family and she just wasn't going to be big enough. We tried for a month or two, but nappy changing on the chart table finally broke the dream. Thanks for asking. Good question.
