At 14 years old in 82 this song caught my attention, and it stood alone just by it's beat. I learnt the words by repeated playing but to be honest they were just that... 'words', still I loved this song for how catchy it was and as the years have passed, I've grown into this song, by the time I was 25 the words had finally made sense to me and to a small degree changed my view when dealing with people who I knew and strangers. Finally talk talk made sense to me in it's entirety. Talk Talk always gave me the real world when other groups/acts were promising fantasy in the 80's. I cannot thank them enough for their contribution to a vast musical world and the impact they had on me.
It's amazing they released The Colour of Spring only 4 years later. Don't get me wrong, I like both (well I love TCoS), but it is a bit like if Pet Shop Boys had released Paranoid Android 4 years after West End Girls.
Its alright. But not as great as their last two. The last two are very serious works of uncompromising art - they could have been made today, timeless.
A great song, and a fine example of the genre, at a time when synths were still just about primitive enough to need artists playing them in a committed fashion!
They did go on to better things musically Rose. Check out The Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden.Lyrically one of the best bands to come from Britain along with The The.You are spot on, a class of there own.Unique in every way.
What slick production and great video artistry for the era. Talk talk were such an underrated band , but they have left a catalogue of songs for original music lovers to appreciate.
Always remember those three months: the eighties had some magic, as in real stuff man! Remember Jimmy Barnes, "Thrown down your guns I surrender!" .?? Or was that the nineties? Who cares: great stuff from back then!
Well Ayrton Senna won world championchip F1, we all got ourself a Honda CRX VTEC to celebrate and there was still plenty of good music to put in the Pioneer cassette stereo while driving. I think that is quite what made this the greatest decade ever ;-)
the year i left school! bloody great times ,my big bro bought all their stuff ,i can remember it like it was yesterday blasting hes tunes in hes room PRICELESS when life was carefree n a breeze and dam good music! 😀💓
Got this on Vinyl..probably cost 99p in Woolworths when I bought it...!! These along with Then Jericho were two of my favourite 80’s bands, there were many more. It ain’t the same these days in my eyes unfortunately 🙀
Alan Ward Of all my favourite bands that I haven't seen live they are probably #1 on my list, alongside Prefab Sprout. Would have loved to see the 1986 tour.
me encanta esta banda pero se volvieron los mejores de su generacion cuando empezaron acer Post-rock experimental y me dolio mucho q no sacaron mas disco de su ultima y mejor etapa q alli si tenia mas ambiciones musicales destacables
has music collector ,enjoyed find music, from any period in history included 1930s ,got released in 50s. i was 13 in 1971 when my singles , in my collection
Love this Group,l agree with "Mark Mahoney",very much under rated, but hey there fans out there like us still playing their music, this track "talk talk" will always be my Fav
under rated indeed. Guess the problem is that they didn't reach the mainstream like the sort of bands like Duran Duran. Therefore, people are strange, to say the less.
Bought the album back in the day. This track and all the others blew my mind. It took moving their act to America to get a change of sound and this move got them the success they deserved BUT this THE PARTYS OVER ALBUM was great and should have done it for them!
He's always had such good teeth! X

I truly love this band and have for decades now. A classic band.
Saw these guys live at the Regal in Hitchin, Herts...Awesome
It's amazing they released The Colour of Spring only 4 years later. Don't get me wrong, I like both (well I love TCoS), but it is a bit like if Pet Shop Boys had released Paranoid Android 4 years after West End Girls.

Definitely their last two albums. Spirit Of Eden and Laughing Stock. Great band.

Its alright. But not as great as their last two. The last two are very serious works of uncompromising art - they could have been made today, timeless.

What a totally underrated band of that time, they should have went on to far far greater things musically.IMO they were in a class of their own.
They did go on to better things musically Rose. Check out The Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden.Lyrically one of the best bands to come from Britain along with The The.You are spot on, a class of there own.Unique in every way.

The drummer is hot!!!
uh yeah i love this song!!!!!
and i think in the 80's Mark Hollis was hot....am i wrong??
No way.
Mark Hollis is still hot 🔛🔝
Reminds me of my wife.
I see the dancing was choreographed using some electric wires strapped to the performers and set to zap them in time with the beat.
Great classics!!
Really wish they would do a tour, would love to see them live.
Alan Ward Of all my favourite bands that I haven't seen live they are probably #1 on my list, alongside Prefab Sprout. Would have loved to see the 1986 tour.
