You couldn't pay me enough to be a doctor or a nurse. Hats off to these people, sounds like hell.
I know!
are you a medic??? because we thive on helping people not the adrenalin rush
JJRISIA you're not a medic
Jake Smith who are you? and why are you addressing me like you know me personally?
jademarissa I bet doctors regret becoming doctors. The medical field is very bad nowadays, actually. You don't get paid as much as you should and it's very stressful. They treat you like crap if you're a nurse or midwife or something. The pay for the amount of hours you work is horrible.
I'm a med student and I'm low key ready to sell my soul to Satan so I can have 8 hours of sleep again
dudechill2 OMG I was thinking that 😂
SAME!
dudechill2 get out before the conservatives destroy your life.
dudechill2 cheer up!you'll help lots of people
same
bless you doctors and also nurses
u forgot therapists
And midwives
(All of the above)
DerSolveigChannel and prostitutes
Jillian Krywko complain some more. She could've skipped out on the gross shit if she was smart enough to go to med school
The story of the mum and the baby that made me cry :"(

Megan Holt ッ why?
Ben Kelly that is the real world, people die, babies die. And it's sad why would you cry or at least be saddened by it.
So much respect for doctors, must be so difficult
Kate Mc 100
My moms a doctor and she comes home tired every day
@QE ornotQE better than paying hundreds for a ride in the ambulance
They deserve all the respect. Can’t imagine how hard it must be to say to a patient they can’t help them. Doctors really develop thick skin for this because if you can’t handle that it’s impossible so amen to them.
I just want to say to all the kind hearted doctors, thank you all. We appreciate you!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

My father, my mom, my sister, my brother are in the medical field and have to work and study really hard. I can't really remember a time where I haven't seen my sister studying. This is not for me, but I admire them all.
I think what a lot of people need to realise is that the NHS isn't shit, it's the funding and decisions made by under-qualified people that is shit
yes, it is wonderful. I hate when people look down on you for attending public hospitals, like the physicians aren't good enough or something. I've had four surgeries on my back through the nhs and if it wasn't for that I would be in great debt. I'm grateful for my health.
Luz Mechasqui I've had two open heart surgeries and I'm 24 the NHS is the greatest achievement of the 20th century!
I'm from the US, and it's nice to see that people appreciate that there's a safety net there for them. Here, if you lose your job for any reason (like calling out sick), you have no insurance. It's over. If you're lucky, you'll find a new job immediately and only go without any health care at all for 90 days. Some of us aren't that lucky. I heard a man talk about his wife, who died of cancer, not being able to get treatment for cancer until they sold their house and car and put that money toward treatment, and then, finally, the government was willing to help. It's stayed with me for years. I'm glad that you were able to use the services available to you, and I hope you're doing well now =).
Absolutely! And pound for pound, the NHS is the best healthcare system in the world. It’s efficiency is astounding
The dark humor gets passed down to the kids of the doctors
Can you elaborate please...
Abi Ikr my dads a doctor of chiropractic and I always tell people he never goes home mad because he spends all day snapping necks
chiropractors aren't real medical doctors but alright
GreenSnapShot neither is a person with a Dr of physics bro... whats your point?
My dad and I have the darkest humor ever. It's really bad
Omg this is so sad actually :( I hope psychologically doctors are ok. It must be so draining.
Artie Choker good point! One of the reasons I hate to see people pressured to do medicine. I think you'd need to have a real vocation to make it through the difficult times
Psychiatrists often see therapists of their own who also see therapists of their own and the cycle continues.
My dad is an emergency consultant, so proud of him 😄
guys please add subtitles! not for the deaf of course, but i'm eating chips and i cant hear shit :)
lmao
why cant you add subtitles for the deaf? I would enjoy some subtitles.
First world problems. XD
Put head phones
I've added complete subtitles. They just have to be approved now.
When the doctor said about the baby dying that night, I felt heartbroken, and I still am. I can't imagine how hard it would be for a mother to let go of her newborn...
it’s life. It happens all over the world, all the time. It’s sad, but they toughen it out with all the happy cases they “solve”.
Kathy Niebylski 😒 babies sometimes don’t make it it’s life
Penguinnn 4life you mustn’t view it in that way. I am a young woman who has lost a baby and I can safely say it was the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. It is now a year and a half on and it still hasn’t left me. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about it, so it’s not ‘just life’ if you’d experienced it you’d know, but to bracket it in that way I’d just offensive.
Some of those doctors are fine 😍
they have money so theyre already fine........
+jack g she meant fine as in "good looking" :)
jack g you're a fuckin idiot
Maisie White Mr Blue shirt though 👌
Most doctors are attractive and its, weird..
My mum once told me how annoying it is when you specialise in idk, pediatrics and someone asks you about a stabbing pain in their ear and you have to politely explain you don't have a clue.
Katie Redhead a good doctor should know why your ear hurts, even if they're a pediatrician. They all have to go to med school for the same amount of time and take the same test to graduate. Children are people and have ear pain, so knowing why an adult would, wouldn't be that different. Now if you're asking your primary care doctor about what dose of transplant meds you should take, he/she is not going to have a clue!
Incorrect. A good doctor will remember what is relevant to their specialty not what they learned in 3 lectures in medical school 10 years ago.
A stabbing pain in the ear sounds like a ear infection . And yes a pediatrician should know that . I
Mostly patient came with a lot of complaints. If you’re not specialize in those areas they are asking, you can always reffers them to another specialist. For example : patient came to cardiologist but they are asking why they have patch in their skin, you can reffers them to dermatologist to get it checked.
Well, doctors are absolutely great. But shout out all the NHS staff who don't don't get much praise. My parents work for the NHS, my mum is a nurse and my dad is a paramedic. They've both told me stories of things that even doctors don't see..Its absolutely horrific and it can have a huge impact on the people who need to deal with these situations.
I agree that all the NHS staff (like your parents) definitely deserve praise and recognition.
I will say though, that it seems to me doctors (especially junior doctors) get less and this one programme is a good way to counter that. Nurses are (rightly) beloved by the British public for the good they do, and there are lots of good programmes on TV about the amazing work that paramedics do.
Bless the NHS. Bless our doctors.
God bless America
My parents moved here when I was 2 from Somalia. I'm almost done with medical school and look forward to serving in the NHS! I'm thankful to the people of this country for welcoming my family.
The doctor in the blue shirt 👌
Ailín Ó'S looks like a pewdiepie knockoff
Mine M i think this person means the blue SHIRT, not the blue t-shirt.
There are two doctors wearing a blue shirt
Abdulrahman Ahmed there are shirts and T-shirts
God
The dude with the black shirt and the shaggy hair is really fit. Reminds me of Daniel Radcliffe
My thoughts too, he has good chemistry with the lady though
Are you shitting me? Daniel Radcliffe is way hotter than that! Bless this guy and all NHS doctors, but he is *not* handsome.
Barbara Danley Danielle Radcliffe is ugly asf
@@Angelzdeath no he's not
Great video, but maybe turn off the crappy UA-cam background music next time when the topics are so serious?
Lol
katheriner10 yah
The baby story. 😢💔
amiablehacker I didn't understand. did he die?
Laila Dailal The doctors knew that the baby wouldn't survive the night so they called the babie's mother so that she could hold the baby one last time before he/she died. Hope that makes sense xx
Rebecca Fowkes-smith yes Thank You.
doctors, nurses and firefighters are the most respected people by me. they save us, they care, they need to be more paid, more respected and more cared about! lots of love and respect!
I'm in my first year of studying medicine in the Netherlands. 8 or 9 more years to go to become a specialist. An amazing study debt, hectic studentlife and even more chaotic lifestyle to come. Still looking forward to it though :)
ArtemisDD wow thats amazing but hard 😀 you must have had great grades then
Army who wishes to be the Statue that Jin kissed Kind of, haha
ArtemisDD I'm in the 5th year of medschool in Morocco, 7 more years to become a specialist in surgery ( 5 for a medical specialty but I like surgery )
I never knew what burnout out and stress mean until I started medical studies, I lost a lot of friends because I don't always have time to hang out and attend to bithdays and parties, I lost my social life, we don't get to have any holidays the whole school year, like we finish the exams on a monday and start the new semester tuesday.. it's exhausting, it literally consumes you, you spend the best years of your life studying..
Good luck to you and to all the medstudents around the world, we understand each others strugles, and because of that all doctors deserve nothing but respect, they really went through a lot to get to where they are now.
Have a nice day.
Hang in there mate! The country needs you!
ArtemisDD, it get´s better! So hang in there ...
Nothing but respect for anyone who works in the NHS
I'm from new zealand and it amazes me you guys don't get/feel respected! Doctors here are more respected than our politicians. In my opinion you owe a lot of respect to the one person who knows how to potentially keep you alive.
Kax I'm from New Zealand and I feel the same
This is why so many of our doctors are going over to New Zealand (well, there is also your amazing country!!)
If you ask the public in polls, doctors do generally score very highly in the list of professions in terms of trust and respect, probably in the top three. However, you don't always actually get treated that way by individual members of the public. You certainly don't get treated like that by managers, politicians and the like. I think that's what they are referring to.
Yeah but then there's the nurses in nz lol
I would just like to tel any doctor reading this that I truly, truly appreciate what you do. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
the girl at 3:30 is definitely into him. the eye contact, the body language. ooh girl go for it
Mollie Larum lol what if she's already married?
She is wearing a wedding ring
+Marla R maybe they are married to each other #plottwist XD

"cant to basic mathematics" think we all know who that guy is talking about there..ahem *jeremy hunt*... dont understand how a man who hasnt passed GCSE maths is allowed that high up position in government
(when you're an American and you've stopped questioning dumb people getting political power )
It's WHO you know not what you know when it comes to politics and entertainment.
im so happy the only surgeon featured here is a young asian female :3 representation!!!! (and before you ask, you can tell shes the only surgeon bc they are traditionally referred to as Miss/Mrs/Mr rather than Dr)
Interesting I didn't know that
But why ?!!
@@Unknown8033 oops this is 8 months ago but it's because surgeons were traditionally butchers who helped physicians lop off limbs that need to be amputated (there wasn't much else you could do back then without antibiotics etc.)
i lived in the UK - the NHS is the best. British ppl often have no idea how great it is.
5:32 I think the guy is crushing on the girl, right??
ConfusionsDelusions or maybe he's just interested in what she's saying?

amanda sales congrats getting in med in JA, I know it's pretty hard and $$
I spent most of my life in the hospital, over 150 days a year from infant till I was 20, and you form really close relationships with the doctors and nurses to the point they are family. You grow up with them around you and appreciate that their working as hard as they can to help you. Makes me angry when I see people disrespect them because I know how hard they work. I'd come in at 3am to the ER with my mom, and as soon as my doctor or favorite nurse knew I was there, they'd often come into work just to be on my case so I wouldn't be scared and they could get me settle into my room on the inpatient unit.
The look on her face when she was talking about the rush! Sheer joy and happiness. I wish everyone could find something that they are passionate about like that
Just the few seconds of the one doctor talking about the dying baby have got me bawling. HOW IS SHE NOT CRYING WATERFALLS RN
She's probably holding it in.
Pandastic Panda i haven't worked in health care for long, but I feel like you harden with time. When you've seen a lot of sadness and misery you learn how to not get too emotional about every sad case.
That being said, the baby story is pretty brutal. Maybe she's had time to deal with it and talked to others about it, and gotten over it eventually?
Well, she did cry about it at the time, but time also gives some protection against giving in to emotions.
You do eventually learn to put on a professional doctor face (most of the time, anyway) because generally speaking, patients don't want to see their doctors bawling, they'd rather see them in control of the situation. The best doctors somehow manage to do this restraint of their emotions while letting enough show through to convey empathy and compassion.
She cried then
I'm a nurse and I'm so greatful for our doctors here in the U.K. they're great colleagues.
Why is nobody talking aboUT HOW HANDSOME THE GUY AT 3:31 is?!
They all look so tired lmao
I didn't realize you doctors pay a price for living in a country that provides free healthcare. Here in (backwrds) America the doctors get wealthy but many people suffer and die because they don't have healthcare. You British doctors deserve appreciation for what you do. American politicians deserve a kick in the backside.
Good bless the NHS and I've worked in a London hospital and it can be hell but rewarding xx
Obviously I meant God bless
I'm a nurse working with old people and I know exaclty what this doctor talk about! Theses moments are powerfull and so precious !!! I feel so privilaged to be able to notice them. Take care of old souls people !!
Bless you for nursing older people. Always remember they were young like you once. But I'm sure you already appreciate that :)
British doctors are just fantastic! Much love out to them for their immense hard work and dedication.
As an American, it really frustrates me when I hear about doctors and nurses and hospital staff being treated so poorly, or the politicians being upset about the NHS. It's something that's desperately needed over here, and there's a country that has it and is completely taking it for granted.
I just want to take the time to say I appreciate you all. Every part of the team that makes the hospital tick. You are all awesome. Xxx
When I was around 4 or 5 years old I told my mum that the worst job anyone could have was the person to tell the parents that their child's going to die. She works in a children's intensive care unit so she does that almost daily and she says that it is the most mentally draining thing a person can do.
I thank her and all the other doctors and nurses. You are a blessing to this world
The dr's in this video have such compassion and kindness while still being realistic.
I'm a non-medical doctor - PhD Philosophy. There are those who fail to grasp this distinction. Although it's quite flattering to be consulted, as occasionally happens, about migraines and sprains and pains, I'm afraid I'm pretty clueless about such things.
I was searching for a comment like this!

Thank you doctors and nurses in Australia for being so amazing, when I was 6 I had the my worst asthma attack I couldn’t breathe at all and I was almost completely unconscious, my father rushed me into the hospital and said that I was having a severe asthma attack and the nurses and doctors went straight into action to help me, they were amazing so thank you!
15 AN HOUR?? i make 3x that as a graphic designer!!
A pound is worth a lot more than a dollar.
yes but its still incredibly low as a pay rate is my point!!
+yearofthejacquie I'm pretty sure in the video they also say it's after tax.
A Turn In The Game Of... when you own a design business, the rate is a set amount per hour plus tax which the client pays.
+yearofthejacquie Okay. Seems like you've got a pretty stable job then.
haha. When I was younger I wanted to be a doctor, but seeing how people and the media have no respect for doctors and NHS in this country put me off. I have major respect for these people.
can't respect these them enough
honestly brave selfless humans doctors and nurses
I'm so very grateful that people do choose to become doctors, but I don't understand how they cope. I couldn't do their job - poor treatment, paycuts left right and centre, no respect from the public, press constantly attacking you, ridiculous unsafe working hours, crippling student debt, badly run hospitals... Hats off to you all for battling through to help people!
Doctor Strange owns a lambo, and over 30 luxury watches in a special automated show case.
Sir Eminence he's a world class surgeon though.
Alex Miles he's a world neurosurgeon in America. Probably makes between a mil to 5 mil depending on institution
He's also magic. (I know he doesn't get the magic till after, it's a joke)
Our great uk nurses and doctors let down by politicians, not respected anymore, pay and conditions, privatisation by the back door etc etc, no wonder they burn out or leave to go to other jobs or countries. bless them all 🙏
So truly grateful for the NHS and all the amazing doctors, nurses, surgeons, and midwives.
If it wasn't for all of them combined I don't know how I could've paid for my son's heart surgeries and checks and everything else he has been through. The nurses supported my family and I physically and emotionally.
I got so angry the other week when students were out fundraising for our local hospital to refurbish and expand the A&E facility because things like that shouldn't be happening. Health and education should be top of the list.
Big respect to all you doctors working hard in the UK
buzz feed uk
what i was thinking
Daniel Evans not really
Without the obnoxiousness of course.
HatingOnHomework 98 They meant it's like Buzzfeed, but the UK version.
Andruşca A-N-K they knew what they ment, but either way it's a TV show. ...
My Mum's a doctor in the NHS and I swear she gets into work at 7:40 and finishes work at 10:00 at night.
@Ginger you seem to have a hate campaign against doctors judging by your persistent negative comments here, perhaps take away the "mememe" attititude and try to get yourself educated on the history of medicine, healthcare and science! Sorry to burst your birdbrain bubble but likely doctors are here to stay , unless you insist to be treatd by semi qualified members of staff
Big up to you guys and all your mates in the medical field. You aren't given the credit you deserve
i have so much respect for doctors and nurses they honestly deserve so much recognition
2 of my 3 children were saved by the NHS and for that I'll forever be great full
Great so go around and promote it please! stop keeping mum!
These people almost all look too young to be doctors 😝
Freedom Rider British genes???? Idk or they actually are young doctors 😂
youngest dr can be 23 years old, so unless they lok like a teen then they dont look too younge to be drs
Nah, most of them around 30.
The GMC course of training is different from the US; there are no "residents". In the UK, the shortest (and most common) route is to leave school at 18 (or sometimes 17 if, like me, you're from Scotland) before studying medicine at university for either 5 or 6 years.
At the minimum age of 22 you then become a Foundation Year 1 (FY1) doctor, followed by FY2, and then you begin to specialise, which can take anywhere between 3 years (for a GP) to maybe 12 years, depending on your speciality and assuming you work full time with no years out. You then become a consultant in your field.
And as a side note, when I did work experience at my local hospital, one of the doctors said she used to get annoyed at patients telling her she looked too young to be a doctor... that is, until they stopped saying it.
Well ill be 23 when i graduate so theyre definitely not too young :D
I have such huge respect for these doctors
maybe you guys don't get enough recognition or appreciation but thanks for all you do all doctors
Being a doctor can be really terrible sometimes/often. Sigh. Speaking from 8 years in the Irish Health Service
*_bless anyone who works in the health care or medical field_*
Respect for all caring hardworking doctors, nurses , surgeons :)
I'm here in USA, I still would like to thank you guys. Your amazing selfless acts of kindness are truly appreciated 💋💋💋👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Thank you all for your service
Would love to see a video about some of the less recognised allied health professions like occupational therapy, physiotherapy, radiography etc :D great video
I mean i hope doctors know more than 9 things
lmao, good one!
Where can you find doctors that look like this??
It's a breath of fresh air actually having amazing people on this channel and not just random bellends.
Thank you to all of them who help us 💙
Can they please explain their shocking handwriting though?
It's not an excuse I guess, but it's probably due to being generally overworked, multi-multi-tasking (yes I did write multi twice). If you see how often a FY1 doctor's bleep goes off when they're doing ward cover on-call, you'll see how handwriting goes out of the window.
More senior doctors don't have that excuse but I guess by then it's ingrained habit.
Space Giraffes except it can literally be a life or death situation. unable to read it, wrong prescription, take the wrong amount etc.
They're Russian? Russian doctors are known for having bad handwriting...
Rushing. I am currently a pre-Med and my handwriting is trash compared to years ago. I don’t even spell fully. I use abbreviations.
Any person who's brain works more quickly than their hand has shite penmanship. It isn't only doctors. They're just more notorious because they hand out written prescriptions. Generally you're not face to face with the penmanship of a CEO, which is normally equally atrocious.
But...where's the nurses video though?
True, nurses are underrated as hell
Kaz Don so true
!!!
Special Kay xox yeah a nursing one would have been much better cz at the end of the day in the hospitals they're putting down all the hard work and taking crap and instructions from all the doctors, they actually get their hands dirty. I would actually really love to see a nurses one too !!!!!! ❤️
I'd love to see an emt video cuz they deal with some crazy shit
Souks onlyjust I'm sorry are you a nurse? Have you experienced this unfairness as a nurse?
Yes nurses do "take the craps", just like doctors and lab & radiology technicians. Hey, you can't claim that nurses are the only one working their asses off buddy.
Instructions from doctors? Again, wrong. There's a thing called roles and working as a team. With each person knowing their roles and playing their parts in the team, you get a good working environment with the goal to save patients.
Hey, why don't you stop this whole "nurses work way harder but no one cares about them" because the nurses i know are happy as hell with their jobs. Guess who also work hard and get
This might sound really dim at first but like... they all have the LOOK of a gp or a doctor like there’s some staple look for gps that I can’t pin point but they all have that *look*
Big respect
who's the guy in the blue shirt with the silver hair and the ginger beard he is oh my God handsome.
AAANND He's on Grindr! That's a win for the gays!
Bigwhofan, thought he must be ... he´s a real Irish hottie!
For anyone wondering why Miss Parkar is Miss rather than Doctor it's because she must be a consultant surgeon. Top ranking UK surgeons get called by their pre degree title.
I dont know about the UK but here in switzerland if youre licenced to be a doctor youre not called "dr. Med". You only get "doctor" in front of your name if you did your doctor's thesis which isnt required to be a medical practitioner. :) maybe its the same in the uk...
Where did you get the information that it’s ‘top ranking UK surgeons’ that have to be consultants?! 😂😂
Wow that's confusing. So how do you know the difference between Miss Smith the top surgeon and Miss Smith the woman who brings the meals around to the patients when they order it? I definitely prefer all of my doctors be called Doctor, the nurses are nurses (RN, BSN, MSN), and the Patient Care Assistants are just called by their first name as they usually just do blood draws, check vitals, dressing changes, etc.
Thank you Doctors for being so strong! yall don't get enough love ♡
Both my parents are doctors and I'm so proud of them to be working in such a difficult time and saving lives
I would have the stomach to be a doctor... But 8 years of med school?? I can't, sorry D:
It's 4 years Med school after bachelors
HamelinSong it's not 8 years lmao
Guys, i'm from Italy. We have 6 years of med school + thesis (6 months to a year) + state exam for licence to practice + 3 to 6 years for specialization
9 years for psychology. Rip me
In the intro when it was like "THREE" I thought it was about to play the jimmy neutron theme song lmao
Thank you for everything xxx
thank you doctors, and thank you NHS
The hardest is not losing a patient, the hardest is not knowing if you did all your could or if you did something wrong and not knowing, because medicine is not black and white, no strict rules and guidelines, and it all you can think about "what if" for a while
And this is why I’m never becoming a doctor. I really want my future kids to have a job where they have a separate life and the job doesn’t actually _become_ their life, you know?
The guy in the black jacket is my fave, so charismatic
Oh my god the doctor sitting with the woman in the flowery top who told the baby story looked so absolutely tired like someone please give him a blanket a hug and a soft place to lie down
"When you tell patients that it's definitely not the worst thing you've ever seen, and in your head you're like: 'This is the worst thing I've ever seen!'"
Well thank you for giving me even more anxiety, Dr. Blue Shirt! XD XD XD
Haha. But then, would you prefer the doc to say to you (as he's treating you) "OMG this is the worst thing I've ever seen, I've never treated this before!!" ? lol.
Id move if I was a doctor in the NHS. You get paid hundreds of thousands to over a million per year over in USA.
And you pay too much of it to malpractice insurance.
+Julia Nixon very true.
Julia Nixon True but it varies dramatically from state to state.
Most doctors in the US make nowhere near that. I'm a doctor in the US and am 5 years out, and if up you take my salary and divide it by the hours worked, I make $6.25 per hour, which is less than minimum wage. And for that I have to work 60-80 hours per week, and have almost $500,000 in student loans. I accrue more interest on my student loans every year than I make before taxes. Not to mention I had to put my life on hold while in training, which took 14 years of college/grad school/medical school/residency. There are a few doctors that make 300,000 plus, and it is extremely rare to make a million or more. Most doctors in the US are primary care providers and make less than 120,000 per year.
David Cameron The hours are ridiculous but are you doing before or after taxes, with or without benefits, and with or without paying for malpractice insurance when you talk about your salary? My only knowledge is from what my brother tells me who is a specialized surgeon and who thankful got a full ride in medical school and literally less then $10,000 in debt in undergrad (UCLA). I'm looking at about around $150,000 of debt and some with 7% interest by the time I'm done with grad school. My advice is to buy a house with 2-3% down and get a loan greater then the house to pay off the high interest rate student loans. Make sure to get room mates to make your mortgage payment low then after a couple of years remortgage your house with a 20% down payment so you will pay less in your monthly payments cause your lower risk. My uncle does real estate so I've been crunching the numbers if I make slightly less then $100,000 a year.
Um, to the silver fox, you can come live with me in America. Also, as an American that lived in the U.K. for a long while, I was so appreciative of the NHS. It's a great thing and I was so thankful.
You guys should read ‘This is Going to Hurt’ by Adam Kay it talks about a lot of these things in more detail
