Agree I still enjoy watching them today as I mention I very rarely watch tv except the weather channel lol they don’t make movies or Good old Rock and Roll I grew up with in the 70’s I’m proud that era I grew up with I miss sometimes those good old days
I don’t either watch TV like I use too. I mostly watch movies I grew up with still enjoy them today. Charlie Chan / Abbott and Costello John Wayne movies few example . TV shows today don’t interest me some or most of them don’t even give me a reason too watch TV today They don’t make movies today like what I grew up with those days are done just like Rock and Roll in the 70’s those were/ was the good old days glad I grew up in that era won’t see that again
The best thing about the Charlie Chan series is that there are always several sub- plots working at the same time. It makes us think about who is really the guilty person
All these comments about stereotyping and race; people, understand that this was ONE HUNDRED years ago. That's the way it was--and it has NOT changed a whole lot since, in fact, it has gotten WORSE in the last few years.
When you watch Charlie Chan movies, get everything you can out of them by looking at the surrounding scenery and watching how the various characters develop and interact with one another. That will make you enjoy the times that once were and perhaps may be again, unless you enjoy asphalt, concrete, and a disappearing landscape.
You forgot to mention that the government stated, in 1954, that the US was already overpopulated with a population of 148 Million. Now we have 350 Million+, and the liberal forces say that there's still plenty of room to invite the whole world to come here. Charlie Chan would not approve.
I grew up in Hollywood and live to see if I can identify the neighborhood where the movies were filmed. The old Laurel and Hardy ones were mostly shot in downtown LA and Pasadena. I wish I could have lived in those days...except for medical needs. So much fun to watch them.
I don't watch TV anymore well not much anyway, because there's nothing but shite on TV now & I don't know why I'm paying for a TV licence I just watch YT.
C.chan an son. # 2. Son's loosing his mind. But Chan's ah cool guy. The plane ride is nuts. Plastic surgery . On face. But finger prints stay the same.
Of course. He was one of the original Stooges but left for a solo career, which was successful. Not only was he in many movies, he had his own series of shorts at Columbia. Some of those shorts are here on youtube. He rejoined the Stooges when his brother Jerome had a stroke.
Although I do love Charlie Chan this episode has a bit of racism involvedif you watch and listen closely at moments when the Black Butler comes aroundyou'll hear the dialogue they're using that is racist but if it was me and I was going to say some racist towards Asians if I was the actor during these times I will be held highly accountable
You really have to watch movies, any movies, from about 1950 on back to fully appreciate the fact that this country, and Europe, have gone completely to Hell. Our very way of life has been challenged by those whom we sought to help and now they have ruined everything. Overpopulation, overdevelopment, and a worsening threat to society is what we have to deal with...…….and if we don't deal with it, Civilization is doomed.
It would be hard to make them as good as these but it might work. People complain that the actors who played Charlie weren't Chinese but that's what actors do, play someone they aren't. Who complains when an American plays a French or Irish person or black actors playing white Founding Fathers?
Oh how I love Charlie Chan movies! Thank you
AWESOME Bravo!!! Story line acting complete perfection.. another Father Son routine and the Charlie Chan Wisdom sure takes the cake!

You have to watch for Lee Larson. He's too firmly grounded in Reality to try to fudge around it and say that everything is all right.

A cameo by Shemp Howard.

I gave up TV 7 years ago due to cost of cable service. I watch TV shows and films from overseas. Have you tried DailyMotion.com or alt .co.uk?
I get free movies through Amazon Prime, that's it.
Have you tried Dailymotion.com ? Lots of old shows. Lots of shows from UK and Canada.
I agree 100% with you. The "shows" are boring.
Me Too!
OMG! I JUST LOVE UR VIDEOS! THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING TO WATCH@SHARE
OMG! it's Shemp!
This guy has been in several movies with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
Ms. L. Churchill
Which guy?
@@vernalc2449
The man that Charlie Chan was talking to on the airplane, the former agent from Scotland Yard. HIs name was Frederick Worlock.
@@leschurchill804 gotcha-thanks.

Shucks I knew who the killer was all the time.......this is only my 5th time viewing this one

Read Nesta Webster and Werner Sombart..
Wish someone would take lost Chan films scripts and recreate films with oriental leads.

@@DavidSmith-sb2ix Over at IMDB, on the reviews, some people are so fixated on him not being Chinese, they can't give an honest review of the movies.
Please put the title in the post
You didn't make the movie
Shemp Howard as a Hindu?? LOLOL
Love these old Chan movies. but the stupidity of the sons and assistants should have been left out.
So that's what was they assumed a Hindu to be and treated them....and common name Ramola...funny. worst episode of Charlie Chan
