VHS effects in video editing are disgusting. Recording on tape and digitizing it is fine. They are 2 separate things.
I went with the full sized VHS because I have a heaping mound of NOS sealed vhs tapes sitting in my closet. Also... it was 15 bucks.

Wondering if you recommend any resources for fixing / troubleshooting camcorder issues? I have a couple Handycams and they power up but the visual is fuzzy/warped. Not sure if I need to take it apart or clean lens inside and out or something
there are so many things that can go wrong with them because they’re old and have many moving parts-I had one fixed at a shop and it stopped working a month later for a different reason-but I think for what you mentioned, you could try one of the cleaning tapes, but use briefly with caution and never rewind or fast forward with it in

4:56 WARNING! JVC mini-DV cameras have TRASH tape drives that FAIL. I've had two die and eat tapes. Both were unable to eject tapes and I had to take them apart.
I'd recommend the Canon ZR series for mini-DV. My ZR850 (bought for $55 on ebay after both of my JVC units failed) is alive and well. I even named it "Zara."

I agree. I had a few JVCs that I loved but all had tape drive issues. Never had an issue with Sony.

i recently bought a dcr trv 480 and converted it to my macbook with quicktime, saved it there and then sent it to my iphone but it won’t play on my phone. do you know how to fix this please?
I think I just had the same issue with a video I’m posting today-if it’s a .mov file, it might be too old to be recognized by modern hardware-you could try converting the file to .mp4 with handbrake (free)

Hello I'm having a problem
Recently I bought a panasonic nv vx77 vhsc tape camrecorder
And I cant seem to find the record button anywhere!! I pressed all buttons, it doesnt start recording
Note: I already have the vhsc tape in it
I've owned JVC, Canon, and Panasonic camcorders. The record button is usually on the back (if you are holding the camcorder it should be within easy reach of your thumb.) Make sure the camcorder is in Shooting mode, not Playback mode.
