i finally got a computer this week and installed blender for the first time. these videos are really helpful. they pack a lot of information into a really short period of time
You're gonna have a blast. Are you interested in 3D art?
Dude dont waste time with this mediocre software, Maya is where it is at
@@wallacesousuke1433 Maya doesn't have the user to user support that blender does
@@wallacesousuke1433maya's monthly/yearly subscription is more than what i live off of. it's absurd to compare the two
@@wallacesousuke1433maybe better but 2,200 € more
Selection to cursor only works if the origin of the object is aligned with the base, since it snaps the object origin to the cursor
luckily you can shift the origin on an object easily
When in object mode with the move tool (4 arrows) go to the options drop down on the top right of the editor window and check effect only: origins
It lets you freely move the origins instead of the parts, making snapping or making centers of rotation easier
I used blender way too long without knowing that.
It also works fine with the vertex/line/face snap tools
@@timothygooding9544 You can also select the center vertex and Cursor to Selected followed by Origin to Cursor
Set origin to 3d curser or choose vertices
Lmao that's what they said
alternatively hit G to grab then B to select the point you want to drag from ( vertex in this instead ) and then select the vertex you want to snap on to.
You can use mirror modifier to place the other 3 after the first one is placed in position.
I never gave blender a chance until I found your channel, now blender kinda is my favourite program.
Great to hear
Impossible, Blender is trash
Or press 'b' when in the move tool. Select where you want it to snap, then move it to the snap of the target.
I'm trying, but after I place the circle where I want the object to snap to, what do I do? Gosh, Blender is such garbage compared to Maya
@@wallacesousuke1433 use Maya then.
@@wallacesousuke1433 Did you see how much the Maya costs? Almost $2000. The blender is free
@@wallacesousuke1433maybe you are garbage. It’s true maya is superior in animation tools. Also more stable. But modeling? Blender is ahead still, user error buddy. User error
@@wallacesousuke1433the first object you click on is the vertice that you want to snap with, and moving it after will actually snap that vertice to the vertice of the other object that you hover over.
I personally like to do Selection (Shortcut G ) -> B. Select the corner of the object's vertex with your mouse and move that object into the corner of the other object. This usually only works well for hard edged surfaces like squares, but it's very quick.
thank you for being the only person so far to teach me this. this was one of my greatest struggles so far
I really appreciate your vid’s! Thanks and I hope you keep it up!!
Glad you enjoy them
I don’t even have a computer yet I still whatch these videos
Adolf Catler
Thank you
The first tip is so helpful and will make me more confident when model thank you
The last one, the rotation snap, I really like and will really help in future projects thank you so much.
Before doing object to cursor, remember moving the origin of the object youre gonna move, so it snaps properly.
You can do that just moving the cursor to a face, vertex or anywhere in a good position, then right click in object mode and select "origin to cursor".
Blender user of 15 years. I always learn something from your shorts. Sub’d.
Great to hear that from a veteran
To add in the first method consider that it gonna positionate the pivot of you obejct in that place.
In this case rhe Tower's pivot is in the bottom of the tower, if you tried with blender default cube it gonna end with hall of it inside the model because the pivot is on the center.
Maya: enable wireframe viewer, press W for move Axis and press D to move the axis, hold V so the axis snaps to the vertex you want (the small model) now stop pressing D and move the model while holding V and it will snap to any vertex or any other model, this time you put in the center of whatever you want. Done
I bounce between snapping to cursor and snapping to either edge or vert. my life became magnatudes easier after i learned to use it
You could use the array modifier to replicate the first object. 1 array Modifier on X axis, second array modifier Y Axis
Honestly a quicker (and more fun) way of doing this is enabling snapping and set it to "vertex" mode. Assuming those 4 pillar meshes origins are at the bottom it feels like building with Legos lol
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS FOR WAY TOO LONG OH MY GOD
but let's not forget about the ctrl+shift+esc+space+enter+comma+period+dash+questionmark+rightarrowkey+leftarrowkey to instantly finish whatever you're doing
Make sure your object origin is set correctly to using the same methodology
go edit mode, snap vertex, individual origin, select all of object you want to move, snap to the vertex you wan to put, go object mode, move upwards on Z axis, snap to the same vertex
I’m glad I subscribed even though I’m probably never gonna use blender
You can do that, if the origin of the object you want to move is on the point you want it to go to cursor
This thing is very useful for people like me that from blockbench move to blender
A faster version of cursor to origin is activate vertex snapping
shift right click to move the cursor then hold control to toggle snapping.
Then simply hover over the vertex you want to snap to.
It's less precise, but if you know the geometry or there's only a little geometry it's the same thing but as lot faster.
I swear starting a nuclear reactor is easier than using blender
ikr
The learning curve in Blender is definitely steep, but I figured out that immersing yourself in tutorials and guides can really help with the basics. If you haven't yet, you really should check out the donut tutorial because it goes into really good detail on the most important functions of Blender.
But it's a lot more dangerous, so learning Blender is a much better choice. Don't be afraid to experiment with the tools. If you don't like the result, you can always undo, or load an earlier version of your project.
Skill issue
BRO. THANK. YOU
Ortho while tracking center distance of the hole to the center of the object to be put into the hole then type that value as the offset
Remember go put object origin to bottom object, if you want to use selection to cursor
Or if there’s already a vert there, just snap to that vert with centering.
that sphere with towers reminds me of a certain pair of purple and yellow moons respectively
I DIDNT KNOW THIS THANK GOD You do this
Omg i desperately needed this
Been looking for a video like this
Thank you so much
This is amazing for a tutorial.
This guy blends
This gave me an idea for a morningstar
These new blender shorts are like mobile game adds.
blender tutorials have always been a grift, but this is next level.
this and snap to vertex my go to options for aligning stuff
This method only works if the object's origin is where you want to align it.
For this you have to have the selected object origin set to the place you have to snap
After over 10 years of using blender (on and off) I can safely say I'm a lot better at it and can do many things that might seem complex.
But even now I cannot memorize all the different tricks and ways of doing things optimally (although this tip is an easy one)
Ughhhhhh why are you so helpful, take my money 💵
damn I wish I knew this sooner 😂
How about the new snapping mechanism that came out in 4.0? It is also pretty good and easy to use
Yep the new method makes all this redundant. It's excellent.
Or just snap to vertex. For more control what to snap to what use G+B
Third one is the best.
if i had this video a few weeks ago, i would have saved myself 13 hours trying to get things together perfectly on a model i had. im still a pleb but im learning
I came to blender from pro-E, so I was going crazy trying to find out how to mate things. For some reason it doesn't seem to be an explicit concept in non-engineering 3D pipelines.
yeah same for me, in solidworks is as easy as selecting two faces and it gives the option to snap them
@@RinEinzbern I don't understand why relative location seems to be such a foreign concept in artistic 3d software. Just because you don't HAVE to be precise in art doesn't mean being precise should be so strange as to not be able to be done at all.
These videos seem helpful…
I’m subbing
or literally do one then just mirror it?
or just use shift + tab and snap it in the center?
idk if you're well versed enough to be doing these videos
First way sounds easier 😂
I was using physics thingy to locate them lol. Thanks
Yes these are good tips👍
Bro ive been doing the same thing by setting the origins and copying coords from one to the other XD
To be clear, this is a dig at myself.
you have the "B" snap key today :D
Can we get a tutorial on how to knife project around an objects surface instead of from your perspective onto a surface, I.E onto a sphere asvan example without stretching the knife
I have a video on my page titled “Learn the knife tool in Blender in 1 minute”, check it out, you may find it helpful
Now we have snap base which is more efficient
I just use the snap to vertices at the top middle of the screen
I found this trick by accident when i wanted to make my door to rotate from the side not the center.
why the second option is less acurate? you just need to set up to vertex snap then press G and move the cursor to the point you want to snap it to
This only works when the origin of the object you want to place is where the cursor is (see what I mean ?). So if the origin of these pieces was in the would not work
Holy shit it reminds me of Spore
와 진짜 유익하다 30분 전에 봤다면
thanks!
I don't mean to go off topic but is that AO making that pop?
I get the message of the video, but in this case its so much faster to just turn on vertex snapping lol
Nice!
Snapping a million times easier than the cursor
Am I the only one who works with custom grids and snapping? Never had this issue but i guess it may help to know this one day
How does Blender know that you want to align *the bottom* of those spire objects though? This seems like it might be missing an initial step, where you first set the pivot point for the object you want to move, and *then* do what the video shows, no? I'm a Blender noob, but I know that's what I had to consider in 3DS Max years ago.
You can set the origin of the object where necessary based on how you want the object to be placed.
If you want it to align with the base of your object, you’ll have to move the origin point there.
You can do that by either moving the object in edit mode and aligning the origin with the base.
Or use a similar method to what I’ve shown in the video by going into edit mode, select where you want the origin to be, move cursor to selection, then in object mode, right click with you object selected and set origin to 3D cursor.
Hope this helps.
@@BlenderVitals I think it does, but I'll have to give it a shot in Blender to know for sure if it's answered my question. Thanks for clarifying the process though mate - you make great tutorials!!
@@overseastom Appreciate it
Snapping will snap the closest to the edge face/edge/vertex, you don't need the pivot for snapping, it knows😅
What material are you using? Is that just a Matcap?
Selection to Cursor only makes Sense If the origin is exactly where it is in this Video, but what If i created the 4 pillars in one Objekt? This wouldnt Work then. Can i put the origin to selected things too?
Or just use the snap feature, way easier
Better to use new snap base point feature...
No, you use b for quicker placement
Press Shift S for the Sims menu
pretty cool
V+D Middle Mouse click, v middle mouse click drag for Maya. Way faster
Bruh your videos are questions that i fail to find on google cus of language barrier.
Just use snapping, it's faster.
Cool but how to get the object to look like that like with the shiny corners
How do you make this lines in the cubes? And the outline
There should be at least three like buttons, one is not enough!
На трудах в компасе на изи
Ахренеть просто, то что в maya делается в 2 клика, в blender и его 100500 плагинах требуется огромное количество времени.
My brain fkn hurts
How do you give this like white edge effect to ur geometry?
Click the down arrow in the top right of the viewport in solid mode, and tick “Cavity”
Helpful 🎉
Очень полезно. Спасибо
Cool
3D cursor is your buddy
Lmao i remember using this technique in AutoCad a lot...
Use new base point snap, much faster than your method.
So many buttons
How to snap to vertex with extra steps
How can I "highlight" the border?
Just use joints in cad
