      Hi! I am currently a student at temple and I started my first semester this year spring 2019. Temple is moving to the bigger campus located in Setagaya this fall. We are pretty much getting some land on Showa women's university. I have seen the new campus but I haven't been inside of it. I would say that it's in a pretty good location. There are a lot of good restaurants and shops located around our school location and it seems like a really good area to have our campus. The train station is also closer (which is a plus, because if you're ever running late for class, it's better that the train station is as close to the school as possible. With our current campus, it's a bit harder since it's around a 10-15 minute walk (depends on how fast you're walking or running). Also one other thing about our old azabu -juban campus is that we didn't have many restaurants or cafes to eat at ( most of the time we had a choice between two spots but the rest of the restaurants were pretty overpriced since we are college students. In conclusion, I think the new campus is in a very great location, and you will enjoy it. I hope to see you next spring! :)

When I looked at the application on the website just to get an idea for when I apply, I saw that you apply to individual semesters rather than for the whole 4 years. Is that just how college applications work? Or would i have to re apply every year? so i sent an application for TU for the main campus in common app. today i got mg official admission letter! however the question i have is this:
    given that on my application, i stated that my preferred campus is tokyo, they sent me a card telling me the steps to complete my full admission and a step or two to help me into japan. however, it’s for the entry year level application, and that’s not what i want. i want my entire four years to be there. so my question is, do i just drop this and apply for TUJ now? even though my senior year is coming to a close? what exactly do i do now??

    What is your opinion about leaving after completing my 2nd year in TUJ? I'm interested in the Art Major but my main interest is in Graphic Design and I wanted to study a course specialising in that. I would have applied in a uni that gave that course but my Japanese skills right now aren't enough to apply for a course which is Japanese taught. So I was planning to do Art Major in TUJ for 2 years to develop my Art and Japanese skills there and then transfer for my 3rd year to a uni with a graphic design course

    • @itsumokyameron9525
      @itsumokyameron9525  Рік тому

      My friend's advice was " If you can afford it, and want a 2 year study abroad experience, go ahead" I personally recommend that you go to a university that specializes in graphic design because although some of the tuj credits will transfer over to another university, all of them might not transfer over. I think it really depends on what you want to do and your path that you want to pursue.

    Hi! I'm applying in about 2 weeks for Summer 2020 and I'm worried mostly about the personal statement. I'm 27 and was really bad at college very early on when I was around 19-20 and have several Withdraws on my Transcript. My TUJ advisor assured me they only look at GPA and they look at applications holistically and those W's would not hurt me but I'm still nervous. I took a few years off and now I've made straight A's for 3 6 class semesters in a row and have a 3.6 GPA, but my worry is that I don't have any extra curriculars to include in my statement so with those Withdrawals, I feel like my acceptance might lean heavily on how I word my statement. Thank you so much for mentioning the anime thing because I was planning on including that as a minor thing but will focus on the culture and history more now (I love it all). I did co-run my cities largest cosplay club at almost 1000 members and I feel like that's a good thing to include, however I don't know if it's negative because it was cosplay/anime or maybe if I can just say it was a Japanese club and not specify?
    I plan on getting my BA in the language and becoming a translator, do you think it would be bad for me to say I wanted to be a translator for an anime or game company, or would they see that as good since I know what I want to do with the degree or should I not mention anime at all even if it's part of my career goal? IF it's not too much to ask, could you give some tips on what you wrote about? I'm super nervous about the personal statement

    • @itsumokyameron9525
      @itsumokyameron9525  4 роки тому

      So I think it's probably fine to include running the largest cosplay club because you did lead a club. I used to cosplay a lot too so i completely understand why you want to include it in your personal statement. I think the main reason why the admissions officer told me to not put anything anime in my personal statement was because it separates you from the majority of people who say "i want to go to temple uni because I like anime" ( that sort). Also my personal statement was actually pretty bad now that I look at it, but I wrote about which types of japanese art, and music that I enjoy. I also wrote about joining japanese clubs, doing a japanese speech contest, participating in language bowls, and also volunteering to tutor my peers in Japanese. I also think saying that you want to be a translator will definitely boost your Personal Statement because I believe temple is looking for students that really have the passion to learn and also stay in japan. I hope this helped!

      @@robincollar I’m not sure about how many times you can apply to temple in one year but I assume it’s twice per year (usually they say it in the rejection email) . As for GPA, it’s also quite difficult to tell what range you should be in to get accepted since it’s getting a bit more competitive each year (due to a large amount of students applying). Well above 2.5 should be a comfortable range but I also had a 3.2 high school gpa when I applied. The personal statement is also incredibly important when applying because I genuinely determines if you get in or not based on the reasons why you want to go to TUJ. Also even if you do get rejected, they recommend taking a semester of community college courses so that your High school GPA basically gets wiped and you can use that first semester of your college GPA to apply to TUJ. I hope this helps even a little bit! I have already graduated last year so I’m not too sure how much has changed!

      sorry I just saw your message. The credit that I believe I talk about is credit for applying for a loan. In order to receive a loan, you need credit so that they can verify you being credit worthy. I was 17-18 at the time of my application process, so I did not have credit or a credit card whatsoever. I needed someone with credit and a bank account to apply for a loan.

      itsumo kyameron Kawasaki, oh okay. Seriously keep it up with them videos. Living out in japan is definitely not easy so I understand the struggles . I’ve been thinking about making videos out here as well so some day I’ll get around to it . I have another friend who makes a ton a videos also and he is very smart cool guy. I’ll send his UA-cam page okay. The more people you know in japan The better right 🤗 I’m currently self employed in construction and odd jobs here and there but I haven’t gotten around to the Tokyo area. My wife is Japanese and I have a 17 year old daughter and a 13 year old son so yeah, I’m 45 years young .

    This may be a dumb question but is there a ‘starting’ semester for Japan colleges? For example in the us, typically the starting semester for HS and college is in august/September (fall)

    • @itsumokyameron9525
      @itsumokyameron9525  3 роки тому

      So you can actually join the college at anytime before the semseter starts. For example, you can join in spring but the deadline to apply will be in fall. If you want to join in fall the deadline to apply will be in summer. So you can join either spring, fall, or summer semesters. I hope this makes sense.

      @@itsumokyameron9525 thanks for answering! :) and sorry to bother but I had one more question. In your video, and I heard, that you need SAT and ACT scores, but on the website it says it’s “optional”, so I’m a bit confused. Is it a requirement or optional?

    • @itsumokyameron9525
      @itsumokyameron9525  3 роки тому

      @@jazroNA I believe if you're american you need SAT or ACT scores but if you are from another country, the equivalent test would be okay. I think they accept TOEFL and I cannot remember the other test.

      @itsumokyameron9525  Рік тому

      of course ! and i really have no idea if a 2.56 will affect how you get in. Since this video is quite old and TUJ was a pretty small university at the time, it was pretty easy for me to get in. I do believe that you just need to at least have a 2.5 GPA to apply though

      it's probably a better idea but i would suggest if you want to get the raw college experience then it would be better to live in the dorms. It's an easy way to make friends that are attending temple.
