I’m trying to find answers for the application process what do we send them first? It will be expensive to get the heath certificate done & I’ve heard some people wait until they pass the 1st screening. So do we just send the application? Rec letters & transcripts too?
Oh god I don't know how to feel after this. I applied for the MEXT scholarship this year and I take the exams this Wednesday in Australia, I have to take a 1 hour English exam, 2 hour Japanese exam and a 1 hour mathematics exam, and I'm FREAKING OUT because the maths exam is WAY above what I've been learning in school and even though I've been officially learning Beginner's Japanese since last year, MY JAPANESE IS STILL SO HORRIBLE and I'm terrified that I'm not going to get accepted because of my terrible maths and Japanese skills ;__: (I applied to study a bachelors of primary education)
What if you're just wanting to go to a Japanese university without the scholarship? I have a decent level of Japanese already and since tuition is cheaper (even with housing) in Japan, it's really not an issue. I am guessing you would just apply directly to that school?
Am i the only one who is just so confused 😅😅😅😅 i do not know not even one japanese word and i want to study undergraduate degree in japan with MEXT. Do i have to apply to the Mext and alsomapply to japanese schools separately but im so confused because they said that they will choose schools for us
would having a higher jlpt certificate like n2 would be useful? i know its useful but like would it help people to be ahead of others during the process because they have the certificate? or is it just for them to know our japanese level and doesnt really help? i have n3 right now but im willing to study hard for this december's n2 if it is the case
Hi, I am really stuck at the moment because I’m going to sign up for 2023 cause I missed the deadline as I didn’t know it was in April 😭 but I want to study psychology or education or something, but do I have to take the maths, physics, bio and chemistry exams too? I didn’t take math, physics or chemistry past nat5 so I was 100% not pass them.would I be able to just take the English and Japanese exams?
If you missed the deadline for the undergraduate exam jts likely you're only eligible now for the grad school level. You don't need core exams for that.

hello❤ I want to apply for mext undergraduates. Does embassy have a preferences in majors? for example is it more likely to get the scholarship if you're applying for engineering rather than for art and music ?
I'm checking at this moment and it currently says closed. Probably for covid correct? I'm assuming it will open back up when vaccines are distributed. I'm a junior in highschool, I greatly appreciate your videos they have helped me out so much.
Do I have to fill out all three majors (first choice, second choice, third choice) or I only need to fill out one of them? Because for example I chose Information Engineering as first choice because I want to pursue computer science but the other majors have 0 relation with computer science. I don't know if I should put other majors just to fill out the empty space.
MEXT pays an additional cash stipend per month which usually covers rent and basic life expenses. The first month you have to front these expenses but then starting the end of that month moving forward you get the stipend as long as you sign in at your university every month
This was very helpful. So first you enter as a research student (and you don't get any degree for that) How do you get into a regular masters degree program after that?
I interrupted learning because of the financial inability and after many years I went back to learning and completed some of my studies. Does it prevent me from learning in Japan because of this?
hi Loretta ♡ I love your videos and I wanted to say thank you SO MUCH for all the things that you teach us with them and all your advices. I wanted to ask, what advice would you give for approaching Japanese teachers for the first time? like, what should I tell them in the first message? I feel like the first contact is so important and I'm kind of scared because I don't know what I really need to tell them. I would be the happiest if you could answer my question, I really hope you see this🤞🏻🥺 and again thank you so so much for all the information🌸🌷💗
oh I found a video of you answering exactly to this question!! omg thank you much, all your content is so complete 😭 I feel so motivated with your indirect support hahaaha 🥺 another question that I have is, you said that we should contact the teachers while preparing all the documentation before actually sending the application, right? if we are lucky enough to find a teacher that wants to help and be our advisor, should we state it anywhere in the application documents? again thank you so much 💗🌷
Do you have to have been to collage to apply? I hope to go to a language school after I finish high school. And the go to a Japanese university for an accounting/psychologist course that’s taught in Japanese
Back again (sorry). So since our last chat, I got into the University of Tokyo. And now I am doing the university recommended MEXT, is there a link that can tell me what is going to happen next? Trying to figure out my chances and such.
I really want to know this - can we study in japan with mext in English based programs ? I want to apply for mext but I have zero Japanese experience that's why I want to do English based programs which is taught entirely in English . so can I?
Hello! Are they very strict when it comes to health? What health examination did you took? Thank you for answering inadvance! We appreciate you answering all our questions. God bless you!
What school did you go to before heading to japan? I graduated and have a Highschool equivalent or something like that and I have been working to save money to go yet I have no knowledge in what college or programs I can go that’ll do abroad
I came on a grad school scholarship after getting my BA and working for about 6 years. In general they want to see either a university diploma or proof of multiple years in your field (full time) for a work visa.
@@hiddenlotus5084 if it helps you save money, especially (like a transfer program when you can do two years at cc and 2 at the partner university) ! For Japan though they don't care when you went before school as long as they see the final 4-yr university diploma
so you covered the pretty much all of my questions but do you know if you can study in japan while in high school, not just college? ex: 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade
I know you probably won't read this because it's been three years from this video. But how do you approach a univeristy? more like, how do you find a university compatible with you research topic? maybe it's a really basic question, but I keep wondering since there isn't a lot of information about this part of the process anywhere :( anyways thank you
Yep! Filming a video on this today but basically I started with a list of national Universities (these are the ones that have MEXT) and started looking through these to see what programs they had. I also searched topics close to what I liked, in Japanese, and added the search term 研究 to find professors who had published similar work in the past. You essentially just need to go through each school so it will require some elbow grease.
@@kemushichan such a nice timing! wow thank you so much for answering and for all the information that you have given us until this point 🥰 it's really helpful, thank you again for the advise, I'll try my best. can't wait for the new video 💞

Disclaimer; The mext scholarship is an exciting opportunity for foreigners who wish to study or and learn about japan but if you are somebody who is half Japanese or have a Japanese nationality.. you are out of luck. Like me.
I know you said to list some backup schools just in case, but if you are not able to be placed in either of the three schools you've written for your choices, will that automatically disqualify you or will MEXT just place you somewhere with a department/college that can take you?
Is every research student evaluated the same way? I entered the MEXT website, and I just want to confirm this, they had past exam questions only for english and Japanese. So, are does the only topics they test you in for research students or are there any other topics like math, physics..etc?
Im applying in 2026 after i graduate from my secondary school at 18 rather than moving when im 15 because in Ireland you can graduate at 15 if you take the two major exams i was planning to do that but now i want to get jobs so i can build up a good resume and i would like to focus on teaching English so English would be more important for me

I am going to be 21yrs old and thinking of applying to the undergraduate program. I saw they have exams for many subjects that I totally forgot about, but hey, 頑張ります!
dude I am 20 and also studying at university in my country but I'll apply to the undergraduate program. I was thinking I am too old for this, seen you is really helped me thank you :D
@@tugcepaksoy1946 hello! How did it go? Did you get it?
Thank you so much ! This information is highly useful , I was actually looking for scholarships in japan for higher education and had lots of questions, you answered most of them . Need to work hard on Japanese now.
どうもありがとうございます
Had no idea this existed... Time for me to work hard! Having an artshow there in October, but I want to stay longer. 笑
Thank you for sharing this with us. Does one need to submit 2 copies of every document unless it states only original or submit only original copies and 2 copies of the documents that they can't provide orignal copies?
I want to study in Japan but the problem is I’m so scared to be in a foreign country alone. I have really bad anxiety.
It can seem pretty scary! But sometimes, I think we just have to take the leap. We can even have one of our lives best memories there.
Did you later apply for the scholarship?
Thanks for this video. I really got a lot of information from the first video, so thank you for this one too.
You are really fun to listen to, I really like the way you talk, can you please explain how you got fluent in your Japanese?
Thank you for this!! Graduating Uni in a year and hoping to try for a Research Student MEXT scholarship! Although, I better try to raise my GPA... yikes!
I’m trying to find answers for the application process what do we send them first? It will be expensive to get the heath certificate done & I’ve heard some people wait until they pass the 1st screening. So do we just send the application? Rec letters & transcripts too?
I wanna hear about Japanese grad student life in Japan!
This is really inspiring. Thank you for sharing!
Can you explain for students who apply to MEXT for Medicine program undergraduate?
Oh god I don't know how to feel after this. I applied for the MEXT scholarship this year and I take the exams this Wednesday in Australia, I have to take a 1 hour English exam, 2 hour Japanese exam and a 1 hour mathematics exam, and I'm FREAKING OUT because the maths exam is WAY above what I've been learning in school and even though I've been officially learning Beginner's Japanese since last year, MY JAPANESE IS STILL SO HORRIBLE and I'm terrified that I'm not going to get accepted because of my terrible maths and Japanese skills ;__: (I applied to study a bachelors of primary education)
did u get it
what maths exam did u? what were the contents-syllabus?
What if you're just wanting to go to a Japanese university without the scholarship? I have a decent level of Japanese already and since tuition is cheaper (even with housing) in Japan, it's really not an issue. I am guessing you would just apply directly to that school?
Thank you so much for this! Super helpful information. Immediately subscribed!
Am i the only one who is just so confused 😅😅😅😅 i do not know not even one japanese word and i want to study undergraduate degree in japan with MEXT. Do i have to apply to the Mext and alsomapply to japanese schools separately but im so confused because they said that they will choose schools for us
I want to study Computer Science but in mext it is not available what should I do.
Please reply.
would having a higher jlpt certificate like n2 would be useful? i know its useful but like would it help people to be ahead of others during the process because they have the certificate? or is it just for them to know our japanese level and doesnt really help? i have n3 right now but im willing to study hard for this december's n2 if it is the case
If you can I would go ahead and get it!
I attended 2 schools during my junior high. So how to fill for 2 schools in the mext application form. There is a column where we have to write about our school's attend from which year till which.... Talking about that column
You should ask your local Japan embassy to make sure. They will know all the rules of how to fill out the form.
Can I do a specific research on slope failure in my country due to continuous rainfall? My country is in the Tropical Region and Japan is in the Temperate. Is that possible for my research in Japan?
I'm still 3 years away from college but I'm really worried if I could pass the exam even if I'm not that good in Math. I enjoy learning japanese and my english is pretty decent so I'm not that worried about the japanese and english exam but I'm mostly worried for the math exam. I'll be applying for undergraduate scholarship and I just really wanna know if it's okay if I dont get a high score from the math exam. Thank you for your videos its always helpful I hope you could notice this and give me some tips or encouragement cause I really want to go and study in Japan. Thank you!
Hi thanks a lot for the help! All that is so hard to understand sometimes. It’s an old video but I have an important question maybe you can help! I want to work in digital marketing(social media etc…) but I don’t know if I should apply as an undergraduate or in “specialized” thing. Because in undergraduate program in MEXT I don’t thing there is a program for digital marketing. Should I apply in technology, in “specialized training college”?
😊 Thanks
so im british and im kind of confused?
do i apply before uni (during 6th form) or after ive finished uni here?
sorry ,,
edit: so like i do it when ive finished 6th form when im 18? or i can do it before/after?
Look up your closest Japan consulate/embassy and it will tell you the specific age/year requirements for your country. Good luck!
@@kemushichan alright, thank you so much!
Thanks for this useful and 役に立つ動画!
Hello ...i want to apply for this schoolarship in this year but I want to ask if we not yet know the japanese language .am I will learn it for one year before going to study in the university?Or we must know about japanese language before we apply this schoolarship?
No....it's not necessary to know japanese before getting it but it will help you to get it if you know japanese...
you have just to succesfull the embassy exam....
best for you
@@abdoulkaderabdourhamanehai7759 thank you so much for the reply .
hello❤
I want to apply for mext undergraduates.
Does MEXT also include lodging and boarding? or do we have to pay from our own pocket for the dormitory ?
MEXT pays an additional cash stipend per month which usually covers rent and basic life expenses. The first month you have to front these expenses but then starting the end of that month moving forward you get the stipend as long as you sign in at your university every month
@@kemushichan ohh okkk thanks 💜
this is an amazing amount of gouge! thnx for share!
Can I apply to the MEXT scholarship while I am working in Japan? I want to go to graduate school here when my job contract ends in 2019.
11:19 I have regular diploma but the consulate said no
This was very helpful.
I will be applying for undergraduate Student scholarship. Is it really necessary to have admitted into a Japanese school before u apply,?
Thank you
Back again (sorry).
So since our last chat, I got into the University of Tokyo.
And now I am doing the university recommended MEXT, is there a link that can tell me what is going to happen next?
Trying to figure out my chances and such.
Omgosh ... I’m applying for that scholarship 🎉🎉🎊
Hey. i would like to know the specific content we are supposed to write on the research topic an the study program.
I really want to know this - can we study in japan with mext in English based programs ? I want to apply for mext but I have zero Japanese experience that's why I want to do English based programs which is taught entirely in English . so can I?
It's been 4 years and mext is still ongoing I'm going to enroll in 2023 since my spm result won't come out until july 2022😔
My consulate doesn't have anything on his website about MEXT. Is it only offered through certain consulates?
Is it necessary that the proposal you develop should address an issue of Japan or it can address th issues or problems of someone's own country
Hello! Are they very strict when it comes to health? What health examination did you took? Thank you for answering inadvance! We appreciate you answering all our questions. God bless you!
Hello, I’m seriously wanting to do this! What does the exam look like going from research student to grad student or PHD student?
What school did you go to before heading to japan? I graduated and have a Highschool equivalent or something like that and I have been working to save money to go yet I have no knowledge in what college or programs I can go that’ll do abroad
I came on a grad school scholarship after getting my BA and working for about 6 years. In general they want to see either a university diploma or proof of multiple years in your field (full time) for a work visa.
@@kemushichan thank you now another question would you advice starting community college first before university? Would it benefit any?

Hey! I am 18 and I am not really good in Japanese (willing to study it, though) neither in Math; knowing those subjetcs are essencial to get a scholarship in Japan? (I would like to study Political Science).
Disclaimer;
The mext scholarship is an exciting opportunity for foreigners who wish to study or and learn about japan but if you are somebody who is half Japanese or have a Japanese nationality.. you are out of luck. Like me.
From what I researched if you renounce it before the day you leave it should be fine
I live for your name 😅😸😸
Well, duh. You don't need a visa to live in Japan, so of course they leave this scholarship for foreigners. You can still renounce, though.
Welp im half japanese but im not a Japanese citizen. Idk if it's fine tho.
👍
I know you said to list some backup schools just in case, but if you are not able to be placed in either of the three schools you've written for your choices, will that automatically disqualify you or will MEXT just place you somewhere with a department/college that can take you?
Hello Miss, I have MEXT Scholarship's wrritten examination on the 31st July. I really need some advice on this. Please help me🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Is every research student evaluated the same way? I entered the MEXT website, and I just want to confirm this, they had past exam questions only for english and Japanese. So, are does the only topics they test you in for research students or are there any other topics like math, physics..etc?
Im applying in 2026 after i graduate from my secondary school at 18 rather than moving when im 15 because in Ireland you can graduate at 15 if you take the two major exams i was planning to do that but now i want to get jobs so i can build up a good resume and i would like to focus on teaching English so English would be more important for me
Can you work also part-time with a studentvisa? Also how hard is the japanese exam? I want to go in 2022 so i have still enough time to learn it.
Hi ! I also planning to go to Japan in 2022, and I think you can work with a visa student (as a part-timer) 😊
I got the mext scholarship for "specialized training college" and lived 3 years in Japan, then I went back home to go to uni but now I kinda wanna apply to mext again for my masters xD but it's weird for masters, you have to contact professors? so confusing lol, I guess I need to do more research about graduate studies in general xP
Hello ! I would like to study journalism and mass communication ( undergraduate ) and I assume it falls under " others" in social sciences . What do they mean by I ( and anyone
else ) will have trouble finding Universities that can accept us ?? Thanks your answer is valid
Thankyou for can your helpful video..
can you plz help me providing previou years questions and answer or the resources through which you prepared for the wriiten examination and interview of mext undergraduated scholarship?
N also can you plz tell me is it really compulsory to have japanese language skills and knowledge?
Hi , your video has been really useful . But I have a question regarding the research student thingy when you look for the university, should they have a research program ? or it just depends on the masters they have available? Im confused .
Hi
i do have a question and i really need help
in the application form it says to put 3 universities and faculties and supervisors
i do have no idea what universities should i put since i dont know them
what should i do?
If you find the time to answer, my only question is, to your knowledge is it true they only give the MEXT to one student per consulate (in the case of the grad school/ research student)?
fearthetree Ive never heard of that, but I have two friends from the same consulate (same year) so I assume it cant be true!
Hi KemushiChan! Thanks for your quick answer! I just want to clarify: Were they both research students from the usa? I'm only asking because a friend and I are applying at the same time. We're both borderline N1 so it'll be a bloodbath otherwise!!
If already completed an undergraduate program in the US. Can I apply for scholarships for ONLY a Japanese studies program?
I love your Kirby plushy 😃😃😃. I know a family who moved to Japan while the mother received the mext scholarship.
First thanks for the video it really inspired me to prepare for the scholarship but I have a question, I read on the website that you should submit a heath certificate that proves you don’t have any health issues that can effect you studying in japan and I have type 1 diabetes for more than 17 years ( which I use insulin ) but my blood sugar levels are good and it well controlled It’s doesn’t effect my daily life at all so everything is normal, is it okay for me to apply for the scholarship? is there’s any chance you won’t be accepted because you have a chronic illness ?
I want to go to Japan yes it's my childhood wish I was fascinated by it's culture almost every day I do daydream about going there, ik it's weird haha but it's kind of my dream suddenly my UA-cam recommend me about mext and I am quite confused how did it recommend me?! Cause I never do search the scholarship , after watching the mext video I am quite intrested in this exam I wanna work hard enough to be selected and make my childhood dream come trueee 🤩
If you go through the whole process and get your degree in Japan in the career you wanted would it, if you were to come back to the U.S., be able to have a job in that field back home?
I have a question, please help me
When you got MEXT scholarship, you choosed the university you wanted to learn or the embassy would decide the university for you? Thank you so much .
Hi, for the study plan part if some one wants to do a project instead of the research then what type of study plan are they supposed to submit.
Hello, May I know could I apply those unpopular universities through MEXT scholarship? Or this scholarship only could support applicant to get into the famous university like Tokyo Univ?
If i have few months to graduate from university in my home country, can i apply for the mext undergraduate program??
I want to apply for an undergraduate scholarship for the Information Engineering major (natural sciences A-6)
Do I have to take a chemistry test even though it's unrelated to my field of study?
I want to talk with you personally on any social media, if there isn't a problem with you and want to discuss ways to do MS in Japan, I started preparation for Japanese N5 level this month, I'm impressed with the culture, lifestyle, and community, I'm serious about coming to Japan, I watched your previous videos on Masters in Japan and internship opportunities, I have been trying to reach professors in japan but couldn't contact anyone, right now I'm in 3rd year for my bachelors in technology (Computer Science) and interested to study further in DataScience, machine learning or Cybersecurity,
i wanna know how i can write the litter i read the PDF and i know how i can write the major things but i don't know how i will start !!!
Could you tell me if there's petroleum engineering University in Japan,( included in schoolarship)
