    I am transferring to this university in the fall. A little worried about going back into dorms though. Any advice for an incoming student? I will be entering technically as a junior, but I am really familiar with Japan culture. I've visited and did volunteer work for six months.

    • @itsumokyameron9525
      @itsumokyameron9525  3 роки тому

      I would say that it's important to bring things from your home country that you probably won't be able to find in Japan. Also I recommend traveling lightly because the distance from the airport to the dorms are pretty far from each other and it's annoying to have to carry really heavy suitcases on move in day. It's hard to give general advice in my opinion, so if you can narrow down specifically what you might want me to answer, I could probably provide more details.

At the musashi kosugi dorms they have a strict policy about letting people come over and you have to sign them in, while hakusan does not. • @itsumokyameron9525
      @itsumokyameron9525  Рік тому

      the initial amount I had to pay for when I applied and was accepted was around $30,000 USD to cover the $4,000 dorm fee ( 4 months of rent for the dorms) , 8,000$ per semester tuition so a total of 3 (spring summer and fall) semesters which would be about $24,000 USD

      If you're looking for a good study abroad experience, then I think you will enjoy tuj. Classes can be tough depending on your major and work ethic. It can get really expensive, so if you're planning on going in spring semester, I would save up now. When applying for tuj and writing your personal statement, try to not write anything that screams weeb, such as "i want to go to japan because I like anime". I heard from the admissions officers that they get a lot of personal statements like that and they usually decline them. Also when you're writing your personal statement, try to "sell yourself" to make tuj want you (talk about achievements and why you would benefit from studying in japan). Also if you have any college credits, it highly boosts your chance of acceptance. When you come, pack things that you need/ around 2-3 weeks of clothing and try to fit your things in only three suitcases. Japan is pretty hard to travel in if you have too many suitcases because the trains get pretty crowded. Also they don't really have deodorant here so if you want, make sure you pack that. I wasn't sure what specific tips you wanted, but i hope this helped a bit!

    • @itsumokyameron9525

      So the way I paid for my dorm living was actually through student loans. It's not the best option but I was able to move into another dorm with the refunded student loan money. In retrospect, that probably was not the best idea and I could have saved more money if I found an apartment. The dorms get quite expensive, so I really suggest saving your money while you can.
