Thanks for the review! It's great to see some love for the support team as well. We have some good stuff cooking up for the future, so who knows what the future will bring...
I'm glad your exited for the indie heroes cart :) I made the game flea which is the guy in the middle of the indie heroes box art :) Hope you enjoy the games when they come. Cant wait for more homebrew on there too, Iv played a lot of mega cats studio cart.
“It’s a nice looking unit.” That’s what she said
It’s a nice looking *unit*

Customer service is such a difference maker, especially with tech, especially _new_ tech. And support from the company makes the purchase so much easier. The value it brings is pretty quantifiable.
The Evercade is awesome, I love the Evercade. The only main critique I have towards the portable is the mini-HDMI port it uses to connect to a TV. I have a few different mini-HDMI cables and one thing I have noticed is that OLDER mini-HDMI cables (the ones where the ends are straight, NOT angled. I have an older mini-HDMI cable that came with an old Flip camera I still own) don't stay in the Evercade's mini-HDMI port very well (they fit in and they cause the Evercade to connect to a TV, but if you wiggle the Evercade enough times, the mini-HDMI wire will start to come lose from the Evercade and you will end up losing connection with the TV, which stinks since the Evercade resets if it fully disconnects from the TV). Same thing goes for those mini-HDMI adapters (those aren't good either). HOWEVER, if you use a more MODERN mini-HDMI wire (an angled mini-HDMI wire. I have a CERRXIAN High Speed Gold Plated Mini HDMI Left ANGLE Male to HDMI Male Cable which works 100% perfectly with the Evercade. It can be any brand (but the Cerrxian angled mini-HDMI I have is awesome), but I strongly recommend a modern ANGLED cable where the mini-HDMI end is angled (NOT straight) since those connect to the Evercade PERFECTLY (it's a nice tight yet comfortable fit) which keeps the cable from slipping out and keeps the Evercade connected to the TV forever. I feel for a future Evercade portable revision release they should include an angled mini-HDMI cable (like the Cerrxian angled mini-HDMI cable I mentioned) packaged with the portable or consider using a normal HDMI port (from what I can tell all normal sized HDMI cables, old and new and straight and angled, appear to be all the same. Granted, I could be wrong on that).
Finally....
Other than that, I LOVE the Evercade and the indie / homebrew games are the things that are making me use my Evercade just as much as I currently use my Playstation 5 (which I use a lot). Also, the Evercade has made me discover some classics I never knew about (Piko volume 1 for Evercade has a SNES RPG called DRAGON VIEW for it and I never heard of it till last year (it's a rare game for the SNES originally released in limited quantities during 1994) and I thought it was AMAZING... really great game. I thank the Evercade for introducing me to that awesome game). I'm definitely looking forward to the Evercade VS console (I'm pre-ordering it immediately) when it comes out at the end of this year.
Ian is slowly becoming the videogame version of the Simpsons comic book store guy.
Amico: exists
Ian: Worst. Console. Ever
Their customer service is indeed quite good. I had an issue with the d-pad (of which it wouldn't move up or down properly, especially on menus). When I contacted them about it, they asked me to show video proof, which I was able to provide. After verifying that it was a failed d-pad, they asked for my information and about a week later (pretty fast considering they're from the UK and I live in the USA) the replacement unit arrived. Didn't have to send the old one back, either. So, props for actually providing good customer service.
Excited for the Versus console version.
Evercade dpads are awesome. I was never into circular dpads before I but this just feels so right. I'm more into portables but see the appeal of the VS as well.
Great review! I recently purchased one and love it. You guys covered all points.
I will be investing in the Evercade VS later this year. It has the right price and strategy. What I love is that you can play almost all of the handheld cartridges on the VS as well (all except Namco)
Loving my Evercade! Ordered the Founders VS and the Premium VS.. I'm all in with Blaze!
Ian is spot on with the Activision/Atari Cart collection. Would love to see that. A lot of fans on discord wants this as well. We shall see!
My son loves Jungle Hunt
Activision/Atari would be such a plus. Would love some River Raid and Keystone Kapers.
Will it come with Pitfall, though?
And not to forget the Oliver Twins collection cartridge, with the Dizzy games.
I'm unsure how popular their games were over in the US but they were big in the game over here through my childhood gaming years.
Nice to see that on the Evercade
Each to their own I guess. I know we used to play them quite a lot on the Speccy and Amiga in the 80s and were enjoyed. Probably some of the earliest platform games I played
@Dino Martino ha! Yeah alright. When it's all you had, it was good enough
Are you interested in the Evercade handheld at all? Do any of the compilation carts appeal to you?
If you want to pick up a console, feel free to use my affiliate link: amzn.to/3gQ8mYw
yes and no respectively. I don't really see enough of what I'd personally like to pick up the system, but it does look like a nice handheld for those who do.
You mentioned how great the team at blaze is with regards to customer service. I would also like to add that they are great to work with from an indie/homebrew dev standpoint. The team was awesome and crazy supportive throughout the entire process during the Indie Dev Heroes Collection development. It is an honor and super humbling to have Doodle World, an NES game my daughter and I developed, as part of the collection and in the hands of more gamers.
I had one, it worked great and I had all the launch games. The game selection was fairly weak overall, I collect game compilations so I had quite a few of the games allready. So it just sat there and collected dust until I sold it.
Its a really cool idea, but I am happy with my Switch lite.
Retro care is something I’d love to get. But life. Water heater, home issues. Etc. you get it. Love y’all’s take. It’s proven and works well from what I heard from my friends. Enjoyed this twice, once while I was working, and tonight while I was relaxing. Thanks guys
Ohhhhhhhhh you know Tommy is pissed off that you are being nice to evercade lololol.
Well, Amico is a piece of shit and the Evercade isn't :) Evercade isn't vapourware.
I’m somewhat tempted by one of these. Looks like a nice unit for what it is, and the price is reasonable. We’ll see, maybe I’ll get one down the line.
Great thoughts on the Evercade.. agree it's the Indie stuff that interests me most. Indie Heroes and Mega Cats stuff is perfect.. want to see much more of this.
Evercade and Evercade VS is what every retro fan asked for. Tommy Tal-lag-rico with his Intel-lag-vision fAmicoM is what nobody asked for.
They actually already have a PS1 game, it's a 3D football game on the 16th cartridge, it runs perfectly. If they can do that, they can probably do Neo Geo too.
I also really want Pac Man World, since they have Namco on board.
I've had an Evercade since Christmas and I love it. Sure the screen isn't the best - the viewing angles are pretty poor, and I'm not keen on the clicky shoulder buttons, but apart from that it's really well built. Speakers are a bit tinny but for £60 we can't expect the best available tech.
I've become addicted to buying all the collections, and so far I have them all - and I have pre ordered the upcoming 2021 releases. At £15 a pop I'll continue to buy the collections even if I don't have a great deal of interest, because I want to ensure I have a full collection. Since I got my Evercade it's been in pretty much constant use. It's definitely up there as one of my favourite handhelds of all time.
Also I have the founders edition VS on pre order. Can't wait for this to sit alongside my PS5 in my house! Blaze seem to have everything covered on the functionality front and I'm looking forward to giving it a go with my 8Bitdo wireless SNES and Mega Drive controllers :)
Thanks for the honest review on the evercade. Possible buy for me :)
Picked one up last year when I was working from home and wanted something easy to dip into onto breaks/downtime. It's a nice little set-up. Little fiddly changing carts but nothing too concerning. I actually got one because they announced the Oliver Twins collection and fancied playing Dizzy but have found myself buying a cart each time I see one as there's usually a few things on there (and it's always nice to find new games)
What do you mean by "Little fiddly changing carts"?
@@inputfunny the carts seemed to be difficult to remove once put into the console and were fiddly as took a while to get them out.
@@ThatLightNovelGuy Okay.
You can already map the buttons. They are on firmware 1.3 I believe. Plus improved the screen brightness. Well it works on mine. Keep up the good work boys.
It doesn't have a crazy amount of features but is solid with great controls and nicely curated carts that appeal to collect. Good job on mentioning the homebrew and newly translated games too which added a lot of appeal to me. There's a second mega cat cart coming out as well as the indie heroes you mentioned. There are Playstation games out already for it so it's known that it can handle up to that.
I've been curious about these and my wife nearly got me a set for Christmas, but....ehhhh.... I've already got GBAs, DSs, modded PSPs, and recently got the Switch Lite. Seems fun, though, and the price point is very nice.
Well I love mine and I pre ordered the VS new console coming!
Really keen to get one of these!!!
some of the reasons I'm interested in this console is it's portable with an HDMI connection, it has a good game collection even though I'd like a Turbografx-16 collection, and, unlike other emulations an Atari Lynx collection! : )
2:13 "...the game's themselves, this is where" "oh, I'm still talking about the console" "ok" "it's a 3.4 inch lcd..." XD
Ian: yeah it's great little handheld. It belongs in the bathroom.
I think the Evercade is ok. The idea of have a cartridge is cool. But I prefer the rg350, rg351, or retroid pocket because they come with a ton of more games. Plus they also do 3D games from PS1, PSP, or Dreamcast.
Ian: *takes giant inhale to say something...*
Pat: *keeps talking*
xD
Evercade is 💯🔥🙌 love mine to bits…
More reviews! Great video!
There's 2 Atari Lynx packs for this, but I'm waiting for a third that will hopefully include the great games that are missing from the first two volumes. If they do that, this will be an insta-buy for me.
Thanks for the review, good job as always 👍. Maybe one day we could finally have a translated version of Snatcher 🤞
There is a translated version of Snatcher, on Sega CD.
@@Rountree1985 You are correct, but I would like an affordable version that is uncensored/unaltered.
Damn. If I were to buy a handheld unit, it would be this one, especially after this review. Thanks Pat & Ian! Peace!
It would be this one..But google Nintendo switch. But prepare yourself and yes it’s real, Oh It will be just like the ppl seeing color for the 1st time! Good for you man!
Why couldn't you have done a Pat The NES Punk Video on this Handheld System ????
Pat's pretty busy.
I gotta get one of these .
Love my Evercade. I have every cartridge released to date.
Ditto!
I have most of those games via emulation or on other consoles and the ones I don't are crap anyway
@@markpugh6808 You may have them, but you don't necessarily own them. Plus the boxes and manuals are awesome 👌
@@30somethingmanchild you don't own physical media either Einstein and the Evercade will just be a brick in a decade that doesn't work
@@markpugh6808 so you came here to tell everyone that you have some ROMs... That's nice.
I would like to see Ridge Racer 2 Arcade if possible on a Namco Arcade Cart, if not Ridge Racer Revolution will do.
They need a Williams Collection
I believe their games are owned by Midway/WB Games now. Evercade also has a Robotron-like game in the form of Xeno Crisis.
@@dreye3215 Thanks WB we will never get these games
@@ravenwoodgames1826 It's possible. I'm hoping for a 'Bugs Bunny Lost in Time + Sheep Raider' cartridge, so I really hope they get WB Games onboard.
Think I'm gonna pick one of these up now!
How about a Mr. DO Collection.
Can you suggest an arcade collection that is something special and not so obvious.
They are listening and maybe they can give us something like gaelco, something that is not very discussed and played by everyone.
I have one and really like it as there are no downloads. I just wish it had more rpgs. The Piko cart is good though and the new indie heroes has a few
honestly it is quite impressive

If they ever did cartridges of this games I would be all over this system. The other reason would be if I could use the EverSD.
@Lassi Kinnunen 81
what has a cart hack already?
@Lassi Kinnunen 81
O they finally fixed it?
I hears that whit one of the updates made fore the console the EverSD was render unusable and that it was not going to be able to be use at all on the Evercade VS the version of the console I really wanted to buy cause its supposed to let you play all the cartridges on the TV EverSD not being an exception.
Pay attention tommy, this is how you get a decent review 😮 of your product.
It would be cool if the company opened up the hardware a little more to allow for developers to make games for the base hardware instead of just emulating old games. Basically like a beefed up Arduboy without the horrible d-pad.
The HDMI mini out is garbage. I think it is because the plastic doesn't allow the mini cable to seat well into the port, so it will randomly cut out if you move the Evercade at all, and the system will reset. Otherwise, I don't have any complaints. I love the Tanglewood/Xenocrisis cart!
Nice Review!! Have a good day!
Evercade. solid like the snes. Will the EVERCADE2 be fully digital. Maybe 8 years from now
I guess I might get an evercade!
What direction it goes in?
Unlike Timmy Turpderpbles imaginary console, this thing is actually a real thing you can buy right now!
Blaze, aren't they the guys from the Neo Geo X?
"They probably dont make 4:3 screens anymore"
*stares in anbernic*
Watch out for tommy
👍
Do you think Tommy will send you guys an Amico?
"I want an activision cart" aged like fine milk...oof. Although I can't be critical I bought a bundle of crash games before the lawsuit became public and collect skyalnders
Not to mention its a color screen!
Woah, Pat....just take over the retro division at Microsoft.
we would need Danny Sulivan's indy heat for the completely unnecessary collection
Does it have haptic?
Neo Geo isn’t 32 bit…
It's going to be hilarious when old half steppin Talerico releases his whack ass console into the wild and he is swiftly served, and eaten alive in front of all humanity. Talerico is the Munson of the 21st century. A real Munson !*

I love coming back to this channel every few months to make sure its still dead lol
Damn, what kind of a loser does that? Anyway, keep leaving comments and downvotes, that'll really show 'em and not at all add to their engagement stats.
I know it’s not the cleanest thing to do but I bring my iPhone into the bathroom and just read the news or play UA-cam , readers digest is sooo pre two thousand and eight lol
FYI I don’t even have to use TP because thanks to a European invention called the Bidet you may never have to wipe your ass again XD
But these do look pretty cool, you're review got me interested in them now
Maybe like idk... show some gameplay?
Even a few screenshots would’ve been nice. This was nothing but talking heads. 🙈
Yeet
I definitely would rather be playing arcade versions.
But what does it play? tl;dw lol
The evercade is better than this podcast
Its no Switch Pro, that’s for sure….
"Evercade in the shitter", I could see it. Better than looking at depressing cnn while doing ma business. Lol #cnn #evercade #evercadehandheld
Just looked and they sell these at my local Argos (large click and collect catalogue type store) gunna go get one with 3 pack of game £80 all in.
