Wow, the same as me. I also struggle with post-traumatique stress, you know depression and anxiety. Amateur too, 61 years old from Venezuela. I find this Video very interesting. I gonna subscribe...
I have watched several other videos on painting Northern lights but none using this technique. I'm excited to try it. Your back yard looks amazing and it will be fun to watch it grow! Thanks for sharing and for being such a great teacher!
Hurrayyyy !! After so much searching , a tutorial that is so brilliant even I can do it 😂 thank you so much , you've made a 67 year old lady , not feel like an old ,old lady . . And I can finally paint this wonderful show of nature 😀👍😊
Wonderful rendition of the aurora. I lived in Alaska for 40 years and have have watched the Northern lights so many times. You've done them justice in this painting!
Omigoodness you just made my ENTIRE night. Tried this technique and it was so EASY (like you said) and I’m just beyond ecstatic with my work in progress now. Thank you so much!!!!!
It is so cool how just adding random lines and brushes of paint to a canvas can create shapes that can take your art to such a different place than what you had imagined in the begining. I do this all the time, just add some random strokes and study the canvas. Let the canvas decide what I am painiting. The bottom left of this work i see a skull forming in the sky. If this was my work i would have started to build off of that by softly highlighting the shape of it.
Totally the est and easiest tutorial for beginners, thank you so much for taking the time to do this, totally inspiring and I will be sure to give it a go to use in conjunction with my acrylic pouring and resin artwork.
Absolutely gorgeous! I've looked a while for something that resemble their beauty and finally found you and you got it girl. I will be trying this but I may experiment and flick silver to see what silver stars look like and thinking about painting on glass. Ive subscribed so I'll be notified of your new creations! I'm actually giddy like a child to paint this. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you so much for this video. Finally I can do it with your guidance. You’ve explained it step by step, which no one has done before . So glad that I have found your video. Thanks again 🥰 you’ve made me feel like a professional 🧑🎨🎨 Greetings from Germany 🌹
I can’t paint a straight line- I just watched this numerous times and painted it! It was a lot of fun!!!! I look like I know what I’m doing!!!! THANK YOU!
HI Lisa, nice way of doing the Northern Lights, your gardening is so different than what I do in CT, we have garden "troughs" and I just throw the seeds in for the butterflies and birds, lots of milkweed, herbs, definitely need my morning glories and moonflowers. When you said you had a hibiscus in that pot, I had to chuckle, my hibiscus have to be in the ground, they are huge here. I love your decorative accents to the garden, I have those same flat round disc solar lights too as well as the pole solar lights with a clear flower or hummingbird on it, I like collecting the more sculpture type solar lights poles too. Again, thanks for the video, you have given me some ideas to do a patriotic northern lights painting.
I have watches other videos that were good ..but a bit complex. WOW this is so beautiful natural and simple and so grateful for you sharing this. Thank you very much!💓🤜
This is the best tuition I’ve ever seen on you tube. So much so this non painter is going to have a bash at painting it..outstanding content .thank you xxx
Holy guacamole! That *is* easy! That’s going to be my next project. I sanded an old failed painting and now I’m giving it a couple coats of gesso, sanding smooth, then I’ll start!
This video made me follow! I painted amazing northern lights on small canvases using bob Ross’ tutorial but I didn’t have the same success with a large canvas. I’ll comment again with updates but so far using my hair mister and my blush brush have made a BIG difference
i watched and followed this tutorial for a nothern lights painting im making for my exams. it turned out very well and my teacher liked it aswell. thanks for the clear tips!! :)
Thank you so much for the tutorial. Been looking for an easier version for quite some time and finally understood how to use white to create brighter lights ❤
Woo hoo! I'll have to try this in oils...maybe in layers 🤔 obviously no water. 😄 I'm problem solving now. Oh yeah, start monochromatic then I can do glazing. Oh man, splattering with oils...that will definitely be outside 😳 Windy day outside. Those frogs are so cute and the silverware insects too.
That's great. I attempted a northern lights today but I did exactly what you said NOT to do and though my background with a milky way was pretty awesome when I tried the lights it all went belly up.😮 so tomorrow I'll be painting over it and starting again! I've not picked up a paintbrush in 3yrs so was a bit rusty. Glazing over the white is a great idea. I'll try using mixing white as it's more transparent.😊
You can do this in watercolor! you just have to do layers and let it dry in between each layer. I have a video on this on my channel called galaxy man if you want to check it out! it looks cool I use a tooth brush for the stars.
I tried several times in other tutorial and neve got a good result, your technique is easy and i m eager to try and sure i Will get the resulta i am waiting for. thanks Greetings for Norway🇧🇻
Lisa I love this! I just did a northern lights painting with a student, I am going to share this with him, it is a fantastic alternative way to create northern lights. Think I will be trying this myself as well 😁
great video .After you flicked the paint on for the stars there were some blotches using that technique. At min 5:47 you'll see a blotch on the right lower side from the flicking that just disappeared. How did you fix that Blotch? You seem to have taken that out of the video
Thank you so much! My girlfriends birthday is soon and her favourite colour is purple/scarlet so I've been looking for inspiration to create something for her in that scheme and on this subject but didn't know how to go about it! I use oils rather than acrylic, any advice on achieving the same light effect cause obviously oils dry so much slower and diluting with water won't work? Beautiful work 😊
@Lisa_lachri you make this look so easy to do... guess I will have to try it. Thanks for sharing some of your techniques, you are so generous! 💞 Love your garden, I think the only way I'm going to get plants to grow is in pots or raised beds since my soil here is so bad, sand over clay is not good plant or garden growing soil, the yucca and cactus love it, but nothing else does 😃
Thank you so much for this. I am an amateur and have started painting to fight my depression. Your video taught to paint so easily. Grateful 🙏🏻
I'm so glad you found art! I hope you feel better ♥️
My therapist just told me I should get into painting for my depression! Literally why I’m here
Wow, the same as me. I also struggle with post-traumatique stress, you know depresión and anxiety. Amateur too, 61yrs old.

That is so awesome! I've never seen them in person. Maybe someday! They look like magic!
Me too. I live in Alaska. Going on 24 years now. I agree, Lachri did it justice. Spot on.
Omigoodness you just made my ENTIRE night. Tried this technique and it was so EASY (like you said) and I’m just beyond ecstatic with my work in progress now. Thank you so much!!!!!

This tutorial is a major help to my mixed media resin piece that I'm building up in layers
That's awesome!

Totally the est and easiest tutorial for beginners, thank you so much for taking the time to do this, totally inspiring and I will be sure to give it a go to use in conjunction with my acrylic pouring and resin artwork.

I can’t paint a straight line- I just watched this numerous times and painted it! It was a lot of fun!!!! I look like I know what I’m doing!!!! THANK YOU!
Hey, just goes to show that you don't have to draw a straight line to be an artist. Van Gogh couldn't draw a straight line, either!

It will work almost exactly the same, you just have to let the black and white layer dry before glazing 😁

Thank you so much!
