Hey, been following this build for awhile. I have an 03 f250 5.4 that I wanna do the same to. I built custom cars for 14 years I can help you a bit eith some issues. 1 ditch tye no name waste gate and BOV. Go with Tial. You will not regret it. Also take the vacuum cap off the top of the waste gate! That needs to vent to atmosphere unless you're running a boost controller. That's what that vent is for. The boost controller adds pressure to the top of the spring to keep it closed untill your set pressure has been met. Lastly you NEED to intercool this thing. I cannot imagine what your IATs are especially with a steel intake tube like that. You're gonna melt a piston and I'm in shock you haven't thus far. Hope it helps.

Thanks for following along. My iat’s are typically 25* above ambient cruising and around 70* above ambient under boost. When I started building car’s back in the 90’s we were always told that ( while recommended and beneficial) intercoolers were not necessary for applications under 7psi. You also have to understand that my turbo is remote mounted (think centrifugal supercharger) so the egt’s have time to come down before the turbo. When I started planning this I was going to do a rear mounted Holley sts kit. They said even at higher boost levels on their system an intercooler wasn’t critical because of the egt drop.
You are correct about the mistake I made on the wastegate vent. I put the cap on because I wasn’t using boost control thanks for pointing that out.

@Camerons on Camera ive been contemplating a stock lightning setup, but the way you did the turbo kit using the oem manifolds...would make turbo cheaper and I'm a turbo guy. I personally built big turbo supras/hondas ect. This is the first v8 I've ever owned. I needed a truck for my camping lifestyle change. Also funny. My camper is almost identical to yours too. I have an 03 Fleetwood Prowler 5th wheel. Our setups look the same lol. I love your guys videos. The 7.3 videos the side by side. We love all the same stuff! Keep it up and "clean" up the turbo build little by little...it'll make excellent content! Do you plan on lifting her a little? I just lifted mine 3.5" front 2" rear yesterday. Sits perfect now. Sorry for all the questions you're the only person online that's done this and its been my dream! I got out of the career a couple years ago now. A lot of corrupt shop owners. Doesn't pay well.

@Camerons on Camera also as far as the IC I have to disagree here's why. Regardless of location compressing air is still going to generate heat. Still needing to be cooled back down. That's why even rear mounted setups still use IC. I do agree on lower lbs you COULD get away with it (you are now lol) but add in the steel pipe? On a 90 degree day towing your 5th wheel I could see issues. You litterally could do a stock 7.3 IC and it would bolt up. I been looking into it. Lastly I'd add thar I'd recirc the waste gate being that you're not going for "racecar" lol. I know welding all this is the hardest part and I'm assuming like me, you can't tig. All these years I never learned how I always had an in house fab guy. Eaither way good luck and I'll be following along but yes. I'll bet that vent being capped will fix your creep issue.

I got this same truck and everything’s all fixed up but the power is terrible pulling my trailer and the economy is worse, how did your economy get affected and do you run that price 91 or you try good oil 87?

My fuel mileage varies a lot depending on what I’m doing but my last tank (not towing) was 13 I think. I run 90+ octane with a 91 octane tune.
