Having been in gunfights, you can never have too much ammo. 10 round capacity guns are for the states limiting capacity. I’d carry a 30 round magazine if it fit in my pocket. 😉

Used to carry the first gen Shield, too many rounds through it to count with 100% reliability (minus shooter error of course). Moved to the Shield+ as soon as it came out and again, lots of rounds through it with 100% reliability. I carry with the 10rd in the gun and a spare 13rd on my weak side hip and NEVER FEEL UNDER ARMED! Good video, it needs to be said that any mods made to your life saving tools are a gamble that some of us just aren't willing to take.

It's honestly pretty funny to watch people learn and develop as armed citizens as they gain some years of experience carrying. People start out wanting to feel like special forces operators or police with high capacity, weapon mounted lights, red dots, etc. Fast forward about ten years and most people are carrying either a mouse gun, slim 9mm, or a J-frame with no light, extra mags, or anything. People learn that having to expend more than 5 rounds at a range farther than a few yards is realistically not going to happen. Carry a tool for the job at hand. Most of us are civilians doing civilian things. 5+ rounds of ammunition in a reliable gun that is super comfortable to carry is good enough. If you are facing 4 armed attackers on your trip to the gas station, you don't need an extra magazine. You need backup (and to move to a new town).

I’ve been carrying 7+1 and 8+1 for the past 20yrs. I thankfully have yet to even have to brandish my firearm. Too many people are out here trying to live out their John Wick fantasies and refuse to leave the house with no less than a 15 round capacity pistol while carrying 3 backup mags.
I have many friends who are/were police officers in pretty violent cities, and neither one has had to fire a shot in the line of duty. Yet most of these UA-camrs will have you believe that they will encounter situations where they’ll have to take on 3 bad guys on the way to/from the gym and need 30+ rounds to defend themselves. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I mean if I’m going into the belly of the beast I want a full size pistol, light, red dot, 18 or 21 rds, etc. But if I just need something to put in the pocket of some shorts for a quick trip a single stack will likely do just fine.

The biggest issue with the 43x/48 is the length being the same length as a 19. Because of this, assumptions were made to believe these guns would also be 15 round oem. When they weren't and the 43x was not the slimmer 26 shield arms offers with its grip chop, people got upset because expections were not met.
As far as capacity, gun size, and caliber to conceal carry, YOU (not the internet or guntubers (no offense spn) or anyone else) have to decide what is best for you. If your gun spends more time in the safe than on your person, its time find something you will carry everywhere

I’ve seen far too many issues with shield arms mags being unreliable, if I carried a 43x/48 it would be factory OEM mags. That said my edc 99% of the time is my Ruger SP101 3” 327 Fed Mag and I have no concerns with those 6 rounds plus 2 speedloaders. I see zero issues with running a reliable aftermarket magazine that you know and trust. If you are able to run 15 rounds in a 10 round gun that is absolutely a no brainer. While I personally am looking at the bodyguard 2.0 and the shield plus for my EDC I only run the OEM extended magazines when I carry it.
Side note, I dislike the Shield 1.0 and 2.0 because of the single stack magazine that causes the grip to feel very slim and not comfortable in my hand, so it's a win win to carry the plus.

I started carrying just a few years ago because of the mass shootings and there have been plenty of instances where the shooters had to be shot up to even a dozen times before they went down. It is a fact that it's better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it because you never know what kind of self-defense situation you might find yourself in. But I also got the point of SPN firearm's video, and that's to avoid certain aftermarket magazines, and not so much railing on higher capacity magazines in general.

I'm not against higher capacity. If I owned a gun as large as a Glock 43x and I could choose 10rds or 15rds, I would choose 15rds 100% of the time. Many people got their Glock 43x's and 48's before the Hellcat Pro came out and they like their guns and want to stick with them... and to have a gun that size that's a Glock and have 15rds makes for an excellent carry gun. I personally still prefer the Glock 43. I'd rather have 6 in a Glock 43 size firearm than 15 in a Glock 43x/48 sized firearm. I prefer concealability over capacity and in many cases power. That don't mean everyone else should do the same though. There are those rare occasions that more powerful rounds and more capacity are needed... so I appreciate people that carry larger, heavier, higher capacity firearms. To have a G43X or a G48 though, it's an excellent medium between size and capacity, just like the Hellcat Pro... except it's a Glock (which many people prefer). I think I'd prefer the Hellcat Pro myself though.

Currently I am shooting Hk's, specifically my p30's, so I carry a p30sk with 10 plus one or a p30 with 17 plus one. I feel fine with any of those day to day. If I am traveling or going somewhere sketchy, Miami, Tampa, etc, I will bring the 15 plus one in my sk and and a reload for any gun. Personally, I think the average person massively under estimates the skill needed to accurately shoot more than 10+1 rounds in a self defense encounter. As a recommendation I would say carry the smallest grip that you can manage under recoil. For some people anything smaller than 15+1 causes them to drop their pinky. Huge hands make shooting some guns quickly almost impossible.
The under appreciated reason to carry less ammo is saving weight. 9mm ammo is around 0.4-0.5 oz per cartridge.

Never understand why some people like to modify their gun or car, just get something that is reliable and good enough in its stock form. It doesn’t make sense to me when someone buys a Glock, then change its sight, trigger, etc with aftermarket parts and the final cost goes up to $1000 and reliability goes down. Instead, buy a Shield Plus for EDC and a Canik Rival for range fun with that $1000.

IMO if you carry, you should always carry a spare mag in case of a mag failure or need for a tactical reload. So your G43X/48 set up will be at least 21 rounds.

What about multiple attackers. I would love to have a smaller options but my mitts are big. Compact is small as I can go. My compact is 15 plus 1. I tried an M&p shield in 9 and 40 and I kept accidentally dropping the mag while trying to discharge the firearm causing jamming problems and losing the mag. I tried to readjust my hands but ultimately same issue.

    100% agree!
Something people also miss when it comes to pocket pistols, as well. I want it slim and light for pocket carry! Having a 1.5 stack magazine defeats the whole point 🤦‍♂️

Shield Arms mags have been out for a while now. I’ve heard enough negative things to not trust them or spend the money on them. I use factory Glock mags in my G48 & any other Glock I might be carrying. Three 10s or two 15s for a G19.

A lot of y’all in the comments are missing his point smdh watch the video and listen to what he’s saying.
If you gotta have more capacity, invest in factory mags, and stop buying aftermarket trash magazines. There are so many examples of failures due to trash mags. A lot of y’all are gonna wind up being victims, unable to defend yourselves when your gun jams.

I'm not gonna say 10 isn't enough. However there are more than a few ccw options that have 12, 13, 15 rounds factory, with better texture, sights, trigger, optics mounts, etc, than a G43, so really this isn't an issue of 10, it's an issue of buying the wrong gun to begin with.

The Glock isn't competitive because of its grip size. And if you can regularly get a handgun with more than 10 , why not? Your argument is the same the revolver guys used to make, and now they have only a niche use case.

  • @Joe-ie8vk
    @Joe-ie8vk 12 годин тому

I will say I agree 11 rounds is enough. I carry a little 380 in my pocket with 10 rounds I don’t feel unarmed. Now here is we’re I disagree. If you wanna carry your 48 and then press it into a home defense gun I personally want more rounds I don’t do that personally I have a different pistol for that. But if someone on a budget or doesn’t want multiple pistols I can see that argument of wanting more rounds. I do run shield mags and I would normally agree on the aftermarket mags can’t trust them range only I have had issues with literally every manufacturer listed in this video pro mag being hands down the worst of the bunch followed up by ets. I haven’t had issues with my shield mags and I have 5 gen3’s. I bought two they worked well I bought a few more from the same store so many same batch except 1? I have tested them and I haven’t had any issues. That’s my experience if people say there having issues I would believe them why make it up but I would go on my experience over someone else’s. If you want to carry them test the hell out of them if there working for you go on with confidence if you have any issues don’t run them. The shield mags seem to be well made also again out of the 5 I own there holding up very well. Something else why I can see wanting more rounds cause I fit in this boat also glocks don’t fit my hand well could never shoot them well. Then the slim line was introduced that fit my hand very well and I know I’m not alone with people not liking the ergo’s of glock. So if it fits my hand I can shoot it very well it’s a glock it’s reliable I could see wanting to make it into a glock 19 of sorts. I have no skin in the game I’m one guy I just like guns but run your gun if it works for you carry it. I have read this online and heard it in a few videos but I’m not 100 percent but I have heard some of the issues could be the pistols themselves? Not like a traditional mistake but there are slight Variances in the pistols again I don’t know if it’s true?

  • @Inkushu

There was no excuse to make the 43X 10+1 when it is easily capable of handling flush fit 15+1. Why carry that size when capacity could be improved on while staying within same size?

Guys, lets not just hear whats on the surface...he is NOT saying anything more than 15 rounds is too much, or bad or what ever...he is talking about OEM mags. Like not switching from a 10 round OEM mag to a 15 round, or whatever count AFTERMARKET mag that may be unreliable!!! Lets stay on point, damn, this is not a pissing contest!
And yes...some of us HAVE been in gunfights, just not with a pistol, and not as a civillian. And we used OEM 30 round mags liaded with 28 rounds mind u....not the 30 it will hold. Yes im sure we would all rather take a belt fed crew served weapon with us into a fight, but hey...society right???!!!
