Love your work and I am just about to start working on faces. Have done other kind of clay work but never faces. You have given me great ideas. Thanks. one thing, I took speech in college and I know my professors would have been pee at your mmm. Don't worry just something to work on. Other than that. LOVE, Love, Love your work. THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING WORK
Careful with how much water you use with acrylics. Too much and it will render the bonding agent in the paint useless and it won't stick. Have you ever done paint (or acrylic) pouring? Very messy, but it seems like fun. I haven't tried it yet, but would like to. I think it'd be fun to watch you experience it. Your facial expressions when you learn something new are priceless! I've got to admit I'd seen that face mold before and couldn't imagine who would ever use those creepy little faces, but you did and you did it very well. Almost makes me want to get a mold. :o)
TYFS , I really enjoyed this video and the instruction and demonstration of what you were doing. I also learned a few things, I knew about the water and thinning the acrylic paint.
Try using washes you can make them from acrylic and oil paints they pickup all the details watch some UA-cam videos on paint miniature figures with washes
oooh i soooo Love these Von i wish the internet had more people like your genuinely awesome self AND fyi Im blaming you for my obsession with polymer clay! yup Its like totally your fault haha Tx
AND you can mix it with most colours and it makes that colour glow in the dark fyi lol Ive made purple sparkly glow in the dark clay Looks soo cool i think i may be addicted to polymer clay now actually #CraftingIssues lolz \m/. Tx
A nice heads up, having a regular hair dryer handy can help speed up the drying process for acrylic paints by quite a bit!! Especially when painting polymer clay. So very useful!! ^_^
I use sculpey bake and bond. Its brilliant. And a little bit goes a long way. You can also use it to adhere unbaked clay to baked clay. Or clay to glass.
So cool that you made this tutorial. I was thinking about making a candle with faces and I some how stumble across your tutorial painting your eyes and subscribed and boom here you do a video on making faces! Love it. Thanks.
the faces are awesome, i like the one thats like your faun make up. also since you like the day of the dead you need to watch the book of life if you havent seen it!
OMG I SAY PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS ALL THE TIME!!!!! Like everyday when I was in drum line at school and people would be like, "Oh I could never do that, that's too hard." and I'd say one thing, "Practice makes progress, as long as you keep trying you're going to get better." My reasoning for using that is because I don't like the saying practice makes perfect because there is no such thing as perfect.
I just found this older video and I'm LOVING IT! 21:39 the way her eye shadow turned out IS TO DIE FOR!!! I LOVED how it had the pinkish and purple....I THOUGHT IT WAS PERFECT!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE these adorable faces and what you did with ALL of them!!!!! I always hated the sugar skulls because I was stupid and did not know the story behind them until I watched the kids movie "Coco" with my 2 yr old grandson.......I AM NOW IN LOVE WITH THEM!!! FAMILY IS EVERYTHING TO ME at 62 yrs old!!!!!! Sometimes I think I've been living under a dang rock........how did I NOT know this??? UGH! What a beautiful culture & celebration of FAMILY!!!! TY!!! (ps.....I cry every time I watch this movie...it's one of my grandson's favorites!) (pss...I've been a professional mixed media artist for well over 30 years now but I DO appreciate other artist's work!!!)
for how long did you baked them and at what temperature? I know the package says instructions , but some times when I bake my sculpey it comes out brittle and breaks super easy like if it was dry sand and I followed the instructions : (

oooh i soooo Love these Von i wish the internet had more people like your genuinely awesome self AND fyi Im blaming you for my obsession with polymer clay! yup Its like totally your fault haha Tx

Look awesome my fave is the steampunk
hehe, thanks Ellie!
where is the mold from?
Can u use chalk powder to paint before baking?
you can; I used powdered chalk pastels in the same way as eye shadow on polymer clay :)
you have to get a specific paint that basically doesnt change you can paint it on beforehand and it wont mess up
OMG

These are so cool! My creative juices are flowing. I need some clay!!
hehehe, right on!!
You can use the powders on raw clay. Makes it stay on better and is a stronger color.
Very good tip, Mary, thank you! :)
They are very pretty I want one
Thanks, Jeanette! Keep an eye on my etsy; they should be finding their way on there before too long!
