    We had 30-week premature twins and one came home on oxygen. It is SO nice to have them home! But I'll admit that the first few months are kinda a blur. It's completely worth it - my boys are now teenagers!

    I had 34-week twins and a C-section because they were both breach. When they were born I had five children under 5 years old. My life was a blur for the next two years. So worth it though. I had two more a few years later and those seven kids are the light of my life, they're now in their 30s and 40s. Those months of exhaustion and constant stress have given me so many decades of joy. God bless you and your family. I've been praying for you ever since you went to the hospital. So happy to see the end of hospital runs in sight for you. ♥️

It is a joy to watch them developed into young adults. God bless you all. The babies are responding so much now the kids will all be happy to love on them.

      Yes but hand hygiene for ALL family members movig between the rental house and the farmstead wil be paramount until those preemies get thru Fall moldy air and this Winter's respiratory virus - teachable moment for all, think proactively how to avoid domestic hazards (like *not* bringing home a _self-propelled battery operated toy car_ capable of travelling unpredictably under foot, trip hazard for anyone, who could fall onto or over a nursing mom or a baby changing table!!!

    When we brought home our now 19 month old he only took a bottle, he wasn't strong enough to nurse .
    Pumping was very hard to deal with mentally .
    However , my husband prayed over him and I every chance he had because he knew we both needed to heal properly.
    Through prayer , we found an amazing pediatric chiropractor and within a week's time our baby was able to nurse and has been a champ since .
    Prayers for this transition to go throughly .

      So many times we are worrying & anxious, either trying all we can think of, or stop trying altogether in fear mode. 😢
      I was surprised, then very thankful they had the foresight, when I learned my son & his wife took each of their newborns to their family chiropractor for initial appt. & begin regular care. 💕😆
      Of COURSE infant's little spines, nerves, & l joints aren't in the optimal alignment after being in tight fetal position before birth, then the trauma of being born, tugged at & turned all about.
      I'd never thought about chiropractic adjustments for infants, but knew it's beneficial for school age kids (athletics, band, accidents) & of course for adults.
      I did take my 3 children to chiropractor throughout their school years. I've had adjustments since about 12 years old. Have birth defect of fused vertebrae in low spine, & been in several automobile wrecks.
      A good chiropractic doctor can ward off or treat many medical problems successfully.🙏🏼💕

This is great news about the babies. It will be difficult having 2 at home but you have so much help that it's not going to seem as difficult as it is now. Hang in there. Beautiful pigeons Grace! I had a flock of 60 pigeons years ago. What fun they were and how wonderful it was to see them fly all around my property. Every day I would let them out to soar and streak through the sky and one by one they would come back to their roost. The day came when I had to move so I gave them away to a boy who lived 20 miles away. Three days after he took them they all flew back to me! I was so happy to see them again. I called the boy and he came again. They were gone for a week this time but somehow they got out and again they flew the 20 miles back to me. I was thrilled to see my pigeon friends again! I changed my plans to move and enjoyed my pigeons for years after that. I have very fond memories of those loving loyal birds.

    I'm not sure what your lactation consultant thinks, but I used the Medela SNS (supplemental nursing system) with my premmie. It has a bottle for the milk and it hangs around your neck, then it has a tube that you tape to your nipple. so when your babies feed, you can still guarantee that the milk is going in and it still teaches them to breastfeed. It is something to think about if having a guaranteed milk amount is what your doctors want to for you to go home.

      I was going to suggest the same thing although I didn't remember the name, or it may have been different when I worked in post-partum, older brain doesn't remember as well as it used to! Not only does it help in knowing the amount the baby is getting, it also helps the baby with the difference in sucking between bottle and breast. The tongue moves differently and it actually takes more energy to nurse. So for Truly especially, it might be helpful since she is still on oxygen.

    • @peaceoutlisar9500
      @peaceoutlisar9500 2 роки тому +9

      Oh wow. That's awesome. I had a premie who is now 35. I would use the pump at the hospital and they would bottle feed her. When she was home I nursed her right away..she was a piggy of a nurser. So I was lucky in that regard.

    • @austyn101ify
      @austyn101ify 2 роки тому +8

      Yes absolutely this. My last 1 had a bad tongue tie and my supply dropped and he had to have a bottle until he had the tie corrected and he of course had preference to the bottle at that point so I used the sns to help get my supply back up and him used to nursing but also make sure he was getting enough to eat. It’s definitely a lot of work using the sns but so worth it.

    • @trudil.7331

    • @VelvetyMoon
      @VelvetyMoon 2 роки тому +5

      I had to use the SNS and it was VERY helpful in being able to supplement while my baby was still technically breastfeeding/sucking and helping to keep my supply up and cue my body to produce more milk (which I was struggling with).

    What a sweet video ! Such a loving family The twins, so precious and glowing with an inner light!! ! Thank you for sharing your life with me, just one of many who are nourished emotionally by you. The soft sunshine and intense blue sky,, the pigeons learning to fly..so much young life thriving on the homestead. My grandmother was born in a little sod house on the North Dakota prairie, one of 11 children. I often wondered how her mother managed ?? She said, well the big kids took care of the little kids , the boys worked on the farm with their father, the girls in the soddy with their mother. My big concern was how did they dry diapers in the winter?? 120 some years later, here is your family, doing it the old way - everybody looks after everybody, work gets done. life goes on. It is beautiful to watch. My grandmother was 7 months pregnant around 1925 or so, and she had a bad fright when a strange man tried to come in her open kitchen door, She went into labor and my uncle was born early. She lived in a small town and the nearest hospital was 100 miles away. He was so tiny, they made a little bed in a shoebox and kept him in the warming oven above the wood burning cook stove, for an incubator.. After following the birth and care of your twins in the NICU, I can’t even get my mind around what a miracle it was that both she and her babe made it through.. He grew up and had a family of his own. I can only imagine that grandma kept him on her chest and breast almost all the time.,

    I can totally understand your trepidation and anxiety, Bri, about any changes with regards to your precious Truly and Royal. It has been such a difficult, long road getting them to where they are. You've done extraordinary work supplying breast milk for both babies for as long as you have and the fact that you are continuing on with it, is amazing. When I had my daughter 21+ years ago, I was told that breastfeeding was the best way to prevent allergies. I have anaphylactic allergies, so that was one of my biggest fears for her. Of course I was willing to breastfeed as long as they told me to. I was blessed with a huge milk supply. We came home from the hospital the day after I gave birth to her, only to have her become non-responsive and floppy by that same time the next day. After rushing back to the hospital with her, it was determined that she had dehydrated because my milk had yet to come in.
    I was given a room where I could stay with her, and was directed to the hospital "pump room" (which to me I always felt it sounded more mechanical than breast milk pumping). It was a room with uncomfortable chairs and pumps on these desk-type tables with partitions between each desk. It felt like they were there to prevent us from cheating on a test or something, haha. Anyways, in my effort to get that milk to come in, I'd go down there about every 2 hours and sit there until I had a couple ounces, which sometimes took an hour or more. Anyways, once my milk did come it, I had enough for 4 babies! It did decrease a bit, but throughout the entire 18 mo I breastfed her, I always had more than she needed. I was donating some to the hospital from when she was about 6 months old. I'd have done it sooner but wasn't aware of that program, which I thought was brilliant. Of course, they tested me, my blood, milk, etc. to make sure there were no meds, etc. in the milk. The nurses who ran the program were always amazed at how m much I would bring in. Even once I was no longer doing that, the supply continued. In fact, I could still express a few drops while I was in the shower up to a year after she'd finished! The human body is an amazing thing.
    Congrats on getting to the point where bringing your beautiful twins home, is in sight. You've all worked hard, made sacrifices and focused on them from the time you were admitted, Bri and I know that the older children will be so very thrilled to have both their parents at home, as well as their new siblings. I'm looking forward to getting a peak into life once they get home and hearing how things are going. You are both such a loving couple, there is no doubt that although you are spread very thin at the moment, you've got more than enough for all your kiddos.
    Best wishes and all my love. Take care of one another... the rest will just work out.❤❤💙💙💙❤💙
    xo Heather🇨🇦

    Your whole family will be fine. Look at the drive, wear and tear, and time in the van, like commuting to a job (but this job commute, is only temporary, for a couple of months). No stress of leaving any of the other children in daycare, they are all safe at home. The babies are getting world-class care and are thriving. Your husband, family and friends, are all there for support. You have created a loving, nurturing home environment, for the family. Your body has physically recovered from the birth. You have a great plan to welcome the babies into the family. Yes, it will be hard work, like all babies are, but you are a strong woman, and this time of your life, will be in the rearview mirror, soon!

    Wilder on his four wheeler with his big smile made my heart happy. The babies sure are looking well, how nice to be able to have privacy at the hospital now. Grace is such a beautiful young woman with a kind heart for animals. I am sure she is a big help to you all at this time and I hope she gets to have some fun with friends too. God bless.

    What a perfect opening vid of your dump find - a 4 wheeler, & that beautiful child, having so much fun on it. I was surprised at how well he was able to control it when he picked up speed, rounded the corners without coliding with the porch railings, even though he'd been looking back, grinning at the camera - so amused & pleased that dad was right behind him. Amazing camera work to always be able to watch. He'll love seeing it when he's older. Great choice of music too on that sunny early Autumn day.
    Otherwise, my heart goes out to you & your babies. They both are looking amazingly healthy, though still weak. Meanwhile, today you two look exhausted & stressed. You're both being so strong & competent despite so many hurdles you must jump every day. This next change might allow you both to relax a bit each day until it's time to bring them home, & I was glad you mentioned that they might be able to come home at the same time. Let's hope Truely builds up a bit more so she can come off oxygen. And I believe your insistance on organic, non GMO formula may help them build the gut bacteria they must have sooner. It might perk them right up, by improving their diet. I hope you two have been able to eat decent food during this stressful time.
    If there's a non-stress diet, I'd recommend it to be gentle with yourselves. You both have so many plates spinning at all times. When you sait it would be a few more weeks of you both driving back & forth each day, driving an hour each way...is a drain. Is there someone who could volunteer to drive you so you could rest as just a passenger, & maybe check emails, or nap while they're driving?
    Though I can see you both accept having do so much now, by knowing this too shall pass, I just hope that you both just have some time to rest & relax - now - not have to wait for 2 weeks from now. Coming home with a preemie must be a stressful time, though mixed with the pleasure of being back together as a family - which you two described so beautifully - it really touched me. I hope it will be as beautiful as I imagine it will be, when you finally bring the twins home, even though two preemies are going to need twice the vigilence. I really hope you get some real hands on help from friends & neighbors, so you can both start taking more naps so you can get back to feeling more rested.
    Don't want to overstep, but I think your faces both show inflammation. Maybe you'd both been esting a lot of bready things or sweets, but if not, that pinkinsh, slightly puffy looking face - which I can get too, could be due to elevated Cortizol levels, which need to be reduced.
    You might do well to take some calming herb teas & also anything that naturally lowers stress on your body. Turmeric is one thing that lowers our BP. It has many other helpful properties - but for inflammation, it's one of your best & trusted options, I believe.
    Also I can personally attest to taking HA & MSM together daily. Some skin care produts are now including HA. It helps heal tissue - like our disks, so I've been taking it for my arthritic fingers for many years now - over 10 years, & it really helped to reduce the level of inflamation in my body. It's good for the brain, the eyes, the heart, our muscles, etc. So when I began taking it, it helped to heal my bones & HA helps disks retain moisture & suppleness.
    Many of us are dehydrated, so the disks have less plumpness. So now my joints are under much less stress.These nutrients healed my finger joints, to the extent that I can go for weeks without taking the HA & MSM, & now, most of the time, I'm without pain in my fingers. After a while, like lately, I'm starting to feel it coming back a bit, so I'm reminded to start taking it again. My last joints on both hands are damaged by years od not knowing these would help.The OTC would wear off in about 3 hrs & I'd be in pain again.
    The end joints of my fingers used to get red & hot with inflammation. Since I started taking those, now I rarely take an OTC for pain. Also, I can see the difference in my face when I take them too - since it reduces the inflammation in my whole body. Also try taking two Omega 3 capsules every day. It really helps many things as well as stress & anxiety & depression. Bottom line, it may help you feel more fortified with alll you have to do every day.

    I‘m so glad you were able to have an influence on which formula those beautiful babies‘ bottles are fortified with. As a 40+ year old german, i grew up on Hipp myself and both my babies were fortified with Hipp. My MIL sent it to me regularly when we were stationed in the US, so I never ran out. This was 15 years ago. Glad to hear that it is now available in the US also. You are doing right by those babies - never be afraid to advocate for your babies! You are doing a great job Momma!
    All of your kiddos are lucky to have you both. Keeping my fingers crossed you‘ll all be together soon - at home! 🙂
