0:30 - L1. target your serve outside of their left foot 2:30 - L2. shot peaking - the ball on your dink should peak on your side of the court and should fall when crossing the net 3:20 - L3. spin continuation. 5:40 - L4. aim your drive. don't think of drive as a winner. aim to forehand close to their hip. 6:30 - L5. aim your drops. 3rd shot aim towards the middle of the kitchen. 8:00 - L6. don't do lift dink after opponents lift dink, but rather push. Respond with lift dink to a push. 8:50 - L7. target worst dinker. target primary dink location until there is an open space on another side 10:50 - L8. ready position guessing. don't commit to a shot your guess will happen. 11:30 - L9. it's ok to backup. allow the ball to hit the court, so it loses energy and you can hit a better shot. 13:20 - L10. attack the side which is most inconvenient for the opponent to defend
Great stuff, the hardest part is applying each of these tips in the proper circumstance and that only comes about with constant exposure and practice. Thanks Shea.
When I see a new shot or concept my favorite way to practice is to drill that shot with a partner, helps me get a ton of reps in and build some muscle memory
Some good stuff Shea.....I've been playing for almost 11 years and there is always room to improve your game! Thanks for your tips! I'm also gonna be 73 next week so age is not much of an excuse...!
After wasting hundreds of hours watching crappy useless UA-cam content on Pickleball, this was PURE GOLD. I am a 4.5 trying to get better and the tip on hitting your third shot drops to the middle of the court was immediately fruitful when I implemented it. Thanks, Shea, looking forward to getting better with your tutorials.
This is a great video, very informative, about aspects of pickleball that other coaches and pros on UA-cam just do not cover, or don't cover them well. Good work.
Wonderfully informative video! I really like that you cut the crap and got straight to what we need to know. Side note, on tip one, when you demonstrated how to run around a forehand return, your right foot was crossing in front of the left foot which is less efficient than if your right foot went behind your left. If you think about it, crossing your right foot in front of your left foot makes it more difficult to have your body/shoulders in the correct position to strike the ball. Whereas dropping your right foot behind your left, opens the hips and shoulders to rotate your body through the ball.
I noticed that too. In tennis, we call that the "drop step" and puts you quickly into a more aggressive position (hips and shoulder turn) to rip back the forehand. 🙂
Been waiting to play pickleball or the first time. Watching a lot of PBTV and Finally got to get out there on Tuesday. A few players that had been playing for a while helped a lot and said stick with it you've got it down. Alot of fun! can't wait for more. Thank you for the Vid!
A word of advice from someone who has played for almost 20 years. Plus I teach beginners @ the local YMCA over a period of 4 weeks. Go take some lessons! Often those “friends who play” haven’t learned properly, aren’t up on the rules, and may have developed some bad habits themselves…which they’ll pass on to you. I see it here in my area frequently, especially among those who have taken a 1 hr. Intro to PB class then been turned loose to play.
Best PB vid I've watched so far. I learned something from nearly every single lesson which usually isn't the case as channels sometimes state the obvious
Awesome Video! I just started playing and fell in love instantly but would like to get better as quickly as possible so these tips should help!.... and how can I snag one of those paddle giveaways!?
Very helpful and agree this will definitely help improve my game lot better! Especially, tip # #6 & 7 (dinking pattern and lift/push dinking strategy ) definitely my weakness. So I will implement your idea. I am only little over year into pickleball and your videos are very helping improving my game. Now let see if I can take my game from 3.75 to over 4!! Thanks for the tips!
After watching this I’m sure I could be a top rated senior (65+) PB player. I was an excellent tennis player and even better table tennis player. In my dreams I won an espy for the greatest pb player that never played. Now I just need to buy a good racket and get on a court to prove myself! I’ll let you know how it goes!
I've never heard the term shot peaking but have seen the concept before. Makes sense but is very foreign when starting out - I remember these shots not feeling right and thinking that I was giving them a pop up. Then one of my first drops confused someone newer and I knew then it was right. I also love the alternating dink types. I do what I call a two/one. two dinks to you and if you handle them, my next goes to the other player. You've given very dense helpful advice here - much thanks.
I like your descriptions of movement , placement and why. I would like more visual examples in your videos. Great tips though. Looking for your other videos
Awesome video and great tips thank you for sharing it ! I’m beginner to pickleball with no racket sports background but slowly progressing so your videos are amazing helpful !
11:20 This has been great, but this tip runs counter to other professional advice. When facing a down-the-line threat from out wide, you can camp on that, because an advanced partner will cover right up to your shoulder on the other side. That's what I've been told from several different channels. In my own play, I've recently begun stepping back off the line by half a step far more often, and it's a big help in many situations.
This was a great video Shea! I would love to see more tips like this. Especially a speedup video with different speedup demonstrations since you said it was underutilized.
What was your first DUPR score when you started? Started last year without any racquet sports. Close to 4.0 now. Journey from 3.5 to 4 is hard. Its easier now beat 4.0s
All these teachers talk about where one should target the ball but they never talk about how to control the ball and the process of aiming the ball with accuracy. Like you tell a beginner to accurately place the ball somewhere and watching that ball go somewhere else. That is my challenge when I am teaching my kids to play.
Thanks so much for sharing knowledge of 4 years of playing\lessons! You make me much better in 15 minutes!! Please keep sharing. And for others, do has Shea does and share your pickleball knowledge to any players not as good as you! #PickleballChris #TylerWrenProPickleball #RawPickleballBuzz #OptaHealthAndWellness
7:07 is that an intentional thing? For the net to be lower in the center? I get cause gravity but now that you mentioned it I wonder if that’s an intentional thing for pickleball court nets
One more tip for returning back spin sliced 3rds. The backspin causes the ball to fly farther so stay farther away from backspin so you're not trying to hit it close to your body
You should watch this again and again. It is amazing how quickly you forget these critical points. Also, you need to be relatively experienced and accomplished to even appreciate what he is saying!
This is the best advanced pb video I've watched prob ever. Please keep dropping gold content like this!!
0:30 - L1. target your serve outside of their left foot
2:30 - L2. shot peaking - the ball on your dink should peak on your side of the court and should fall when crossing the net

Very true, thanks for watching 🫡

The fact that Mr Magoo can play at all is amazing! 😄
(That was just a joke about the movie Mr Magoo. He was blind)
This was very helpful advice for a 10 month player at the 3.9 level trying to move up!!! thanks. subbed.
Watch a looooot of PB videos on UA-cam. This is truly one of the best videos I watched for my level. Thank you.

This is excellent Shea, definitely top 5 pickleball videos that I have seen. Clear, concise and practical.

Well done shea. You get to the point quickly and thoroughly. No wasted time. Great tips even for an old man like me lol. Thanks
Best PB vid I've watched so far. I learned something from nearly every single lesson which usually isn't the case as channels sometimes state the obvious
This video is so good, I’m gonna watch it again, and take notes. Very helpful stuff!
Regarding lesson #3, just backhand backspin return back. This works well for me.
Loved it sir. I am going to practice each of these in my drills
One of the best lesson videos I've seen. Thanks for the tips!
Absolutely fantastic video! I learned so much. Thank you, Shea!
Yep downloaded this video and watching over and over
Awesome video, great content, no BS and great editing.
totally agree!
Shea - Thank you for this very informative video. Lots of practical tips condensed into those 14 minutes! I've liked and subscribed!
First time viewer of your videos and reinforces many of my tendencies. I liked insights number 2, 5 and 7.
Awesome Video! I just started playing and fell in love instantly but would like to get better as quickly as possible so these tips should help!.... and how can I snag one of those paddle giveaways!?

By far the best video I’ve seen with details explaining the logic behind it. Well done sir
Really good tips in this video. Many players I play with are so afraid to back up on pop ups then wonder why the ball just whizzed past them.
If you ever have that “oh crap” moment. Take a step back! It’s amazing how many balls you can get back if you don’t give up on them.
I've never heard the term shot peaking but have seen the concept before. Thats awesome! Really smart way to think about the dinking strategy.
Great videos! Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Good stuff.. I've picked up a few of these on my own in the last 2 years.. I'll have to save this and go thru them again.
This will be my new video to share with newer students! Well explained brother!
I like your descriptions of movement , placement and why. I would like more visual examples in your videos. Great tips though. Looking for your other videos
Great summary!

WOW! That was total fire! so much meat. I'm going to watch this again and again.

Very good tips that a lot of instructional videos haven’t touched on. Well done.
great tips!!!! best and most useful i have seen Shea!
Excellent strategies that’ll I will work on. Thank you!
Excellent tips and explanations of each…thank you.
Wonderful tut I have ever seen. Thanks Bro!
This is really good! I’ll be sending to my friends and rewatching this to help me level up!
Thanks. This helps me improving my game.
Shea, what grip do you use for serving? And do you change grips during play? thanks.
Just curious - where does this video take place? That background is beautiful
Loving the tourna grip
Perfect video for someone just figuring out how much strategy pickleball involves. Like me two months from my first game... ;-)
Very good material here. Lots to practice, but is a cheat code to level up.
So good. Thanks for the tips!
This was a wonderful video. I learned so much.
This is awesome stuff. Thanks so much, Shea.
Excellent tips. Now, I just need to use it when playing.
Excellent tips and explanations Thank you

Agree, One of the best!!! Thanks Shea
Terrific insights.

What was your first DUPR score when you started? Started last year without any racquet sports. Close to 4.0 now. Journey from 3.5 to 4 is hard. Its easier now beat 4.0s
Excellent info. Now if i can just remember all this.
Thanks
Cool… now everyone knows 😉 … excellent insight! Thanks 🤙🏽
Great tips. Love it
fire, never got this much out of a PB video
Drill every single thing he talked about. 1 per session for an hour minimum. Watch your game develop rapidly
no
I’ve been drilling. Probably 2 a session for like 1.30 hour per technique. Honestly have seen more developing from my weekly butthole tanning.
Sounds like fun
Great tips Shea! Thanks!
You got it 🤝
what paddle are you using?
Excellent stuff!! Thank you!!!!!!!
This is really good stuff!!
Subbed. Great cliff notes

Good info Shea....thanks 👍
Thanks for the support!
Wow!!!! Thanks, Shea.
You got it bro 🤝
Shea, Jam Packed with info.... thank you.... Vince
I recently started pickleball and love it, and this video is amazing for my next steps. Thanks!
What a gorgeous park.
Where is this at? The views are beautiful!
This is in Hayesville, NC
it would be nice to hear you explain how to make ball peak on your side before falling over net
Try to get more loft than you are currently getting. Basically aim a little higher with the same speed that you are currently hitting
Thank you!
Brilliant…thank you.
Amazing in-depth video
Best summary!
Thank you! ❤
Chess analogies earned my sub 🎉
Thanks so much for sharing knowledge of 4 years of playing\lessons! You make me much better in 15 minutes!!

7:07 is that an intentional thing? For the net to be lower in the center? I get cause gravity but now that you mentioned it I wonder if that’s an intentional thing for pickleball court nets
Yeah! The rules mandate it’s 34 inches in the middle and 36 inches on the sides
Great tips
Is this Tfue? lol great video, was able to see a lot of things I was doing wrong when I play.
Great stuff.
Thanks Nate!
One more tip for returning back spin sliced 3rds. The backspin causes the ball to fly farther so stay farther away from backspin so you're not trying to hit it close to your body
Really good point. That’s a super common mistake.

Good video.
an amazing video.
Where is this? Looks beautiful there.
Really well done
