    This video nails it: you're the best pickleball teacher on UA-cam. Many, many thanks.
    By the way, in tip #11, you show the ball being tossed up. I thought that was illegal, that balls being served had to drop unassisted.

    Why no coverage of the drop serve? It’s all volley serve. I definitely prefer the drop so I can use a wide variety of spin and not worry about people complaining about swing angle, paddle below wrist, blah blah blah.

      I just went through this and resolved it yesterday. My wife noticed that I wasn't dropping the ball straight down. I was kind of throwing it away from myself. The result was that my server percenwent below 10%. Not good. I started dropping the ball straight down and immediately went to 90% with some decent power.

    I feel like you get a lot more control over serve if you use drop serve rather than volley... especially hips/shoulders twist. Alternatively would be to toss up a volley serve a bit higher to then recoup into a proper swing. When you just drop for a volley serve - arm is in front and I really don't see a good way to do a proper torso twist.

    5:29 this tip is kinda correct but not exactly for the reason why you think it is. You will hit the ball the hardest in the sweet spot because it largely isn’t the weight the paddle that generates the power but the flex from the core and face. The spot on the paddle with the most flex and rebound is the sweet spot. Your tip is still correct for most people because most people use elongated paddles where the sweet spot is closer to the furtherest point down the paddle generally offset from the top by about 3 inches. So yea the tip works but because the sweet spot on most paddles is near the top because most paddles are elongated but if you are using a hybrid, standard, or wide body paddle this is not the case. As paddles get shorter the sweet spot moves downwards at an increasing scale. For example on most hybrids which are about 0.2 inches shorter than an elongated paddle the sweet spot is about 4 inches lower than the head so about 1 inch further down than elongated paddles but on a widebody paddle like a volair forza mach 2 which is about 0.6 inches shorter than an elongated paddle the sweet spot is is around 6 inches lower than the head almost dead center in the paddle face. Since you are sponsored by selkirk i encourage you to pick up a power air s2 or epic shape and test this yourself. Without putting any weight on the paddle make contact on a serve really far up the paddle face, then gradually move your contact point lower and lower and what you’ll find is even though you are hitting the ball lower on the face you are still generating more power than you are at the top.

    bacause i didnt get a paddle nor my question was answered. why do we drop the ball in the third shot if we want our opponents to be further from the kitchen?

    • @bethechange4726
      @bethechange4726 6 місяців тому

      U drop so yourself and partner can get established at your side of kitchen, so drive and drop accordingly too game and opponents being played! I’ll drop return against bangers to throw off smashing and drive crashers to keep control of rallies!!

    Great video! I enjoy your content. This is a very comprehensive serve video however I’m not sure I agree with trying to hit your serve on the tip of the paddle rather than the sweet spot. Yes, the paddle tip is moving faster than the sweet spot at contact but the tip has far less pop than the sweet spot.

    • @bethechange4726
      @bethechange4726 6 місяців тому +1

      On serve Pop be negligent do your ability to swing in longer arc so it’s about power, tip of paddle and both attributes used leading to your served ball drilling the target selected!!

      I was told that now you can't bounce the ball downward when serving it , as opposed to just dropping it and striking it off the bounce.( althoughi I dont feel like I am bouncing it) ...at least that was what some dude was telling me. ( although my serve was giving him problems ) .

    Unless I'm mistaken, there isn't a serve that a player could be tossing the ball up when serving. On a drop serve you cannot toss the ball up.

    • @sheaunderwood
      @sheaunderwood  6 місяців тому

      There are two types of serve: volley and drop. If you use a volley serve you can toss the ball up (all serves in this video are volley serves)

    • @jameslam8587
      @jameslam8587 6 місяців тому

      @@sheaunderwood yes about the 2 serves I'm just saying that on the volley serve the point of contact has to be below the waist, paddle head needs to be below the wrist and the swing is an upward motion, so you can't really incorporate a "toss." In the volley serve you are basically releasing the ball out of the hand below the waist (understandably for most people the hand holding the ball tends to rise up a bit when beginning the serving motion) and the paddle coming up and striking the ball. I guess using the word "toss" is bit misleading when in the video you are actually tossing the ball up.

    • @sheaunderwood
      @sheaunderwood  6 місяців тому +1

      The point is that people toss the ball up and then wait for it to get below the waist before making contact. You see it all the time. Very few people in the lower levels drop the ball out of their hand, they toss it up.
