    Thank you for watching~

Great video, as a swedish confectioner, I am so happy to see people outside of Sweden take on one of our classics.
A few tips tho for those who are making it themselves:
The marzipan is usually a darker, more vibrant green, the rose more realistic and most important: don't coat with custard cream on the outside like they do here, the marzipan will start to sweat overnight and melt.
I usually skip the "leftover" custard and put the custard cream in the second layer, then make the dome with pure, whipped cream.
If anyone needs help - just ask 😊
    Great job!

pale green colour was a nice modification. it lends the cake a lovely delicate aspect compared to the overkill green of the typical version. the rose is perfect as it is. swedes are so often unable to think outside the norm.

I don't think they've ever seen a cake as beautiful as this, I'm sure they will be blown away when they see it. A lot of hispanic and American deserts are less about the aesthetics and more about the sugar lol. I appreciate this style of cake. Can't wait to try!!

Hello, I’m a swede who’s been following you for a rlly long time :) Seeing you make a “prinsesstårta” made me so happy!!
It’s really interesting to see your influence/take on the cake! You can tell that it has (whether it was intentional or not) elements from the Korean kitchen haha. If you were to bake a more classic Swedish version I’d suggest more green food colouring in the marzipan, more whipped cream (tbh 50% of the cake’s height is supposed whipped cream lol) and just a regular two layer sponge cake. But I’m sure people do it differently even within Sweden. Don’t get me wrong though; you did such a good job, prinsesstårta is a very complicated cake and it turned out beautiful. Besides it was really fun seeing your take on the cake and appreciating our culture ☺️

As a Swede it's so nice to see people from other countries liking our food and this interpretation of the cake with paler colours and the added trim at the bottom is really cute! It's also refreshing to see someone make everything from scratch and not cutting corners like we do (buying cake sponge already divided in three perfect layers, getting custard powder that you just mix with cold milk, buying ready made marzipan (optionally already coloured and circle-shaped for you)). Even with some things ready-made it's still a lot of work in preparing and assembling it to make it look good! (If the cake is too daunting you can also make it as a roll, less impressive but the taste will be the same.) I agree with some of the other Swedes here that the cake should be wider and flatter so the top layer of custard/cream can be thicker, it's basically a gräddtårta but with the cream on the inside hehe. But should you decide to make this cake of course make it the way *you* want it. :)

It is mentioned for the first time in Jenny Åkerström's book The Princesses' new cookbook from 1948. Åkerström owned and taught at a household school for young, wealthy girls. Among her students were the princesses Märtha, Margaretha and Astrid, daughters of Prince Carl and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark. The name princess cake probably comes from the fact that the princesses were very fond of the green cake.

Elegant; fairytale-esque! I'm making this for my daughter's 4th birthday. Four is a very special age in the netherlands; that's the age kid's go to school... directly after their birthdays - in some cases, the following day! Being Australian I find this quite a challenging thing for a four year old to endure (not for all, but some) so I make this a special event for my kids. My daughter is a huge Elsa/Frozen fan so I'll make it with all the appropriate colours and add some ice-like spun sugar around the entire thing. Can't wait to make this!

Don't know why I'm so surprised to see so many from Sweden watching this. Any how.. I'm also from Sweden 😁 and I loved this version of the princess cake 😍 I think it is an improvement of the swedish classical version which is much greener in color. This one is really pretty 🤩🤗
Someone with professional experience mentioned in another comment, that the marzipan will sweat from the custard cream coating and the classical princess cake here in sweden is always coated with fresh whipped cream but I believe it will taste even better with the custard cream 😊🥰

I've visited Sweden three times and each time enjoyed Princess cake and tea in some lovely eateries. Marzipan is my favourite-ever thing so hello, Sweden, you had me at Princess cake. It's usually coloured a darker green or sometimes pink (too girlie, resist!) but I love this very subtle green shade and the diplomat cream over regular whipped cream. BTW cake flour is banned in the EU, UK, Australia etc. because it is so heavily bleached with agents that can cause cancer. You can make a cake flour substitute by removing 2 tablespoons from each cup of plain (or all purpose) flour and substituting 2 tablespoons of cornflour (also called cornstarch).

I'm not Swedish but ever since I was a child, this cake has always been my favorite. Many of my friends don't like it because of the way marzipan tastes, but personally that's the reason why I liked it, as well as the strong feeling of nostalgia I get when I eat it. My family and I were kinda tight on money but every year, on my birthday, they would save up so we could all share this treat :)

Traditional princess cake does not contain jam at all, that is called an opera cake (which traditionally are pink) but it's super common to use it nowadays, so this is 100% a princess cake. Just some unneccessary info I wanted to share.
Also this cake is pure perfection. It looks amazing!

Tip: Alot of swedes like to put juice (most common are orange or apple without meat of course) on the cake bottoms to make them less dry. I think it provides more flavour too.

One thing . . . the chef frequently uses corn starch and corn syrup. I have an allergy to corn and corn products, so I substitute Arrowroot Flour for the corn starch and cane syrup for the corn syrup. Does anyone else have to do substitutions?
