Sorry! Thought “Cory” but said “Sput”! UG 🤪
For as popular and successful Snarky Puppy is I still think they are underrated and underappreciated. Every thing they do is a matter class in performance, composition, arranging, musicianship, etc. It's clear that all of the collaborations bring out the best of the guest performers. I find something new in each performance with every listen.
They surprise me over and over! Truly a group of gifted artists!
I insist... There is a before SP/after SP thing...
This song has been so magical to me. It’s great to watch someone else go through that wave of emotion. No matter how many times I hear or watch, it doesn’t get old. My heart swells when those horns come in after the spacey improv part
Straight to my heart, Claire! 🥺
Her voice. The melody. The arrangement. The lyrics...
Soooooo gooooood!
Snarky Puppy and the compositions of Michael League are a platform of endless possibilities... and the collabs with singers are phenomenal.
Yes!!!!
Actually, this is a composition of the singer, Laura Mvula. Snarky Puppy arranged it in a way only Snarky Puppy is able to. The original version of this song is from her debut album, also called Sing to the Moon (2012).
You pronounced her name correctly the first time: ''Mmm-voola''. She's a British vocalist, married a Zambian guy, and depending on which country in Africa you're in i.e South Africa, their surname would mean ''Rain'' in Xhosa. It's an amazing song.
Oh wow thank you for this info! 👏
I'm from Rwanda and it's the same over here! Mvura is rain
It indeed does mean rain.
Languages spoken in Zambia are very similar to those that we speak in SA
This was a song for the keyboards, all four of them.
Totally, yes!
Really a Master piece. For me one of the Best pieces of music from Snarky... And that Keyboard Solo Battle? There's nothing like this on youtube. Magic and perfect piece
I LOVE your analysis! Can I add that Michael League is a genius? And that this is one of the most talented and entertaining collectives of musicians in the business?
Thank you! Yes I agree Michael is a genius! 👏👏👏
so delicate and smooth
This is my first time listening to this, and WOW, it's beautiful. The vocals and the solos by each keyboardist were such a treat.
Bill Laurance does play some unexpected keys, from time to time! He's sometimes on duty on the synths, like here, in the clavinet, or in this weird little keyboard instrument that I still don't know what it is on Coney Bear. Edit: It's the Osmose Expressive E.
Oh hey this is one I asked for…. Well I know I commented it as a suggestion. I guess great minds?! Haunting is the perfect word yes❤️I love it.
Yes! A couple people wanted this one and I just heard a few seconds and was sold! 😍
Absolute love ❤
It so deeply emotional, I got watery eyes every damn time. Im so happy you did this one!
Ya man this one really gets to me! 🥲
Who does their sound engineering? It's hard to believe their stuff is live when it sounds this amazing! We need names - whoever is doing their sound is on the musician's genius level...
They always have their mixing, mastering, engineering and production personnel listed on the description of their videos :)
Man, I'm with you.
This song makes me feel things everytime.
It was nice to see someone else feel it similar to the way I do.
Thank you Jose! :) :) :)
About the sensations, hard to explain...
Just music lovers, I mean serious music lovers, while seeing this videos, performances, is like they grabe and put you in the middle of that bunch...
💙💜❤️💙💜❤️
It is a spiritual. Love the presentation.
100 percent correct!
Amazing!!!!!!!
A wonderful reaction to beautiful music. Thank you
Thank you Gene!
Seeing you react to this touched me. I watched it 4 times back to back
awww that makes me happy to know that, Cici. Man this really got me and I still think of this first reaction. I was completely taken off guard by the sheer beauty and longing in this song. Wow, just wow.
This music is of another planet.....
Yes!!!
Perhaps your genes are kicking when this arrangement and singer come together?❤
Thank you so much for sharing this🙏🏼. Sooo beautiful and very moving💜🌕✨ ….. the sound scape beautifully combined with her voice … it’s like a connection to another realm …. with an important message to us …. just moved me to tears - and thank you for your beautiful reaction and sensitivity to this, Jeff 🙏🏼💜❤️🕯
Thank you Lise! Man this one REALLY got to me. The lyrics cut through to my heart and made me reflect on my own challenges in life. The mood of the music served to amplify all of that. Wow, wow, wow.

Yes, it did and it did to me as well - and I think that That is what some special music/musical experience can do to us. And eventhough it might get to us in unexpected ways and timing, I still think they are a blessing🙏🏼💜😌🤗.
Several times I have had these experiences at eg. a Live concert with Eivør (just in another “language” so to speak), and I was so happy, I didn’t have to get a beer at the bar afterwards and chit chat with a lot of people right after, because I was just so filled with and overwhelmed by all the beautiful and powerful experiences that I just wished to keep it precious for a little longer in me - kinda cherish it🙏🏼💜❤️💚💛.
I wish you ALL the best - both with this and for the Holidays to come😘❤️🥰🕯🌲🎄💫🌟✨🤗.
Ps: And there at 2:52 (as you noticed😉) she elevates with both lyrics and the unexpected shift - like helping in sharing and carrying the burden ….. lifting in such a beautiful and important way towards light🙏🏼💜❤️🕯🕯🕯🕯
Ohhh, yeah, this is niiiice! I had to listen to her own version too - both are a total vibe, and thus have found their way onto my Feels ‘n Vibes playlist haha!! 💖
I'm back!! Sorry for my absence, work and complications from the boost jab have kept me offline for a while. What a reaction to come back to!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who had an emotional reaction to this song. Everything was exquisite, Laura's voice is hauntingly beautiful, the band, every last member playing helped make this the bombshell it is. Glad to be back watching your reactions again. All is right with the world :)
Welcome back Edward! Ya man, that came right out of the gate and smacked me pretty hard!
Haunting and very thoughtful. Great composing and artistry...great layering of sounds throughout. Thanks Jeff
So beautiful 🥰
Oh Damn!!!! I’m so glad you introduced this to me! Wow! Gets you in the heart ❤️ Lovely, peaceful and powerful!!!! Thanks, Jeff #goat 😊
Ya man this one really to me!!! ❤️
this is a laura mvula song off her first album i think .listen to green gardens by her totally different vibe joyous tune great songwriter singer
That's some dominant chord at 2:13. Very spicy and suuuuuuuper tense. Haven't analyzed it yet, but I'm definitely getting the 13 in there. Not sure if it's the natural or flat 13 though. And I think... a b9, which is my favourite upper extension for dominant chords.
But there's something about Mvula's voice. It's so raw, tender and sad. You said it in the end - sorrowful.
Man those unexpected chords really get me. The mood is thick in this one.
I cry with this music! Hi from Brasil!
Jo, this one really got to me man. I almost lost it a couple time...so beautiful and hits me on a deep level. Nice to have Brazil in the house! :)
I love how you anylize the music. Instead of just "reacting" to it. You actually know whats going on. I subd.
Thank you and thanks for the sub!!! 😊😊😊
Finally!! I told you a few months ago that you would have to get the tissue out on this one! Lol
Omg John you did! Hahahaha you were right on man!!! 😪😄
@@StrateleStudios Absolutely Beautiful song! And the key solos were excellent
Ohhh you finally did it!! I love you man!!
Glad you enjoyed it Z! 😃
The piano solo is actually by Cory Henry (the Lingus solo guy). Sput is one of the two drummers on this one.
You know I totally botched that and when I rewatched it I thought “why did you say that you know that’s Corey dumb dumb!”. Ug. I was going to drop some text in to fix but forgot hahaha my bad!
@@StrateleStudios Actually, the piano solo is by Shaun Martin. Cory has the organ solo and the last synth solo is Justin Stanton.
@@randysimon7363 hahaha oh man thanks for the correction! 👏
@Randy Simon I'm afraid you're wrong my friend. Watch the piano solo again and you see the camera pan up to Cory. Great to see the keyboard players switch up their usual instruments in this song (including Bill's amazing synth solo!)
Michelle Willis plays an acoustic pump organ on this.
Ya, a Harmonium is a pump organ. I guessed right!
I noticed the Cirque du Soleil cap, hello from Quebec! Great comments as always, Jeff. This is a masterpiece of modern music.
Good catch! Yes, I’ve been a fan for many years! 😃👏👏👏💙
Does it not make you almost ANGRY at what is force fed on mainstream pertaining to music? THIS song should be number 1 across all countries and most genres
I hope that part of what I’m doing on this channel can help get these artists get out there in front of people. To make them easier to find so other people can fall in love!
I was surprised to see bill on the synth too, and he is so good. But Cory killed it on piano. And I loved the organ.
Man, Cory on piano...SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
@@StrateleStudios Just to get things straight, the round of keys was Bill Laurance on synth, Cory Henry on organ, Shaun Martin on piano, and Justin Stanton on synth.
@@randysimon7363 It's the other way around with Cory and Shaun
@@sandenson Right you are. My bad!
Such a moving song. Great choice. ✌️
It really is. Thank you!
Sheer excellence.
I just listened and watched this again after I heard it in December or January. Today still have sweating eyes. Since hearing Snarky Puppy, I can't listen to verse chorus verse chorus turnaround verse chorus music. The exception is Disturbed SOS and anything by Beth Hart. I'm 69 years old physically. 1 musically.
This song is a masterpiece and cuts right to your soul! ❤️
Beautiful Voice. - Similar tone to Mary Davis of the S.O.S Band..
If you want to listen to some great Snarky-inluenced music you really should check Dynamo. It comes from the same area as Snarky and the band leader Ryan Connors can even be seen in the audience on some Snarky videos. Their song Carried Away from their latest album Celina (2017) is maybe the best starting point. There's a live studio perfomance of Carried Away in the style of Snarky in UA-cam. I'd describe their music Snarky Puppy with vocals. Try it, I'm sure you will love it!
Oh wow very cool I’ll make a note of that! Thank you!
Ohhh! Love your snarkypuppy-journey!!! Definitely you should check out Amour T'es Là!
Oooo that's one I have not come across yet. Thank you for the suggestion!
Jeff, since it's Christmas season now, wouldn't it be a good idea to get around to that Jacob Collier cover of The Christmas Song soon?
Oh man that is such a great idea!!!
Also there are some GREAT tracks on Family Dinner album 1…
Definitely need to check that out!
@@StrateleStudios the song with Jayna Brown, I think she was only NINE. truly impressive performance!!! The guest guitarist with Jayna is maybe 12?!
And ‘GONE UNDER’ with Shayna Steele is a giver of goosebumps!!! I also really love Amour T’es La… like a mental vacay to France!!!
I LOVE how u LOVE music.
Most people don’t even know that ‘SOMETHING’ won GRAMMIES❤️❤️❤️
Lamestream media can be so frustrating.
@@HiroForever oh wow thank you for this! 👏👏👏
You remark that this music is very visual. Snarky is magnificent. Awesome musicianship and this one was deeply moving.
But since you love well done and sometimes complicated music. Perhaps music from the 70s or 80s in not your bag. But Genesis makes very well constructed and very visual music. They paint wonderful soundscapes, especially in their 'prog' years. Please research some of their music to present and analysis. It is often jazzy, but very symphonic and often majestic. Great stuff.
70s and 80s music is near and dear to my heart as that music makes up my roots! I opened for Steve Hackett back in the day. I have a quaint story about him if you are interested. :)
Really man... If a vocal performance is what you're looking for... Please do a reaction to Adele singing "To Be Loved" on her couch to a backing comp track. It is raw, amazing, and unreal that she can sit down like she's doing and just sing out like she does. It is something that is unheard of with clarity and power. And the lyrics are so powerful that she'll refuse to sing it in public. I've seen a number of reactions to it and was wanting your twist on it. Since you don't pause the video and you actually show emotional linkeage to what you're listening to.
Damn that’s a good song. Caught a little if it. Will add to my list. 👏
Can you react to One Hope - Snarky Puppy ft KNOWER. Two bands you love together. Honestly that whole family album is worth a whole reaction
Omg yes!
Loved this - you really should try reacting to some of Michael Leagues other music projects as they're absolutely wonderful! Like these ("In Your Mouth") ua-cam.com/video/8tght3610wc/v-deo.html ("Right Where I Fall") ua-cam.com/video/0cHioeMsFG8/v-deo.html both from his new solo album - or this one ("All the Way Home") from Bokante with the Metropole Orkest ua-cam.com/video/KZrr5v9N4o4/v-deo.html
This is great! Thank you for the links that helps me! 👏
