    Watch as I fish the Grand Isle and Port Fourchon area for a great speckled trout bite.
    Admittedly, it was a tough day, and things were going wrong from the get go: thunderstorms and higher than predicted winds made a delayed start then a rough ride across open water.
    When I finally got to where I wanted to go, all I could find was dirty water and a single hardhead catfish!
    Things continued to go wrong, but I didn't give up, eventually persisting to find a fun speckled trout bite in some of the most pristine "trout green" water I have ever fished in my life.
    And yes, in case you missed it in the intro, this fishing trip was filmed before Hurricane Ida devastated the area.

    Hey Devin, the water at the rocks where the catch was good was just gorgeous!!! Tommy V says, if you’re in cloudy/dirty water just move east or west and USUALLY you can find some pretty clean water and he has been describing it from CLEAR to Trout green when he finds it!!!
    Always pay attention to what’s around you!!

    There's just something special about the way trout thump a big bait. Whether it's a rat-l-trap, mirrolure, corky, or a top, it's just a different experience than a paddle tail or something along those lines.

    My new favorite video , a youtuber from Grand Isle catches a lot of trout and predominantly uses live pogey. I always thought a silver or chrome Rat-L-Trap would work just haven't been able to get there to try, now I say theory proved.
    Thanks for all the hard work love watching when I can't go fishing. Tight Lines

    Pogey boats pillaging the sea… today in the Biloxi Marsh I was fishing birds diving on shrimp down current of a fleet of oyster boats. The water started to get dirty, but even worse was the steady stream of Red Bull cans and plastic water bottles. Tried to pick up what I could, but I’m sure there was plenty more where that came from. Would it kill these Jackwagons to not throw their litter overboard?

    You made the comment that you wished you had fished that spot earlier that morning cuz you could have crushed them. Maybe, but my experience in that spot is the water needs to be coming in and it looks like it was coming in when you found them because of that beautiful green water. You likely hit it at the right time!

    Awesome vid man. I was just looking at new gopros today and its so hard to spend that money on a new one when all they do is lock up and overheat. So frustrating.

    • @LAFishBlog
      @LAFishBlog  3 роки тому +1

      Mine don't. The trick is to use battery eliminators and/or use something to actually shade them. A piece of paper or cloth works in a pinch. I use flat ABS plastic that's mounted above the GoPro, but the only time it's needed is on days it's flat calm and sunny.
      Otherwise the main source of heat is the battery trying to charge and decharge at the same time. Just pull the battery out of the GoPro and hook it up to a USB cord that's wired to the boat's house battery.

    • @LAFishBlog
      @LAFishBlog  3 роки тому

      It's also worth noting that GoPro does an exchange program, where they give you $100 off a new model when you send in a comparable action cam, even if its not a GoPro. I used that to keep costs down.
      However, with that said, the Hero 9 has been worth every penny. It's image stabilization is incredible, the color is good out of the box and being able to shoot in 5k is everything.
      Combine that with a good power solution (boat's house battery) and a 400GB SD card and you've got a media machine.

    • @cbbassin6275
      @cbbassin6275 2 роки тому

      @@LAFishBlog thats a good idea about the battery. I'll try it. All I know is my hero 5 never overheats. I hit record and it stays on till I hit stop. The hero 6 won't last an hour using the same resolution and frame rate.

    • @LAFishBlog
      @LAFishBlog  3 роки тому +1

      @@twinfish2061 Well, I respectfully disagree with you. I have not seen any evidence to suggest a small mesh rubber net makes such a giant difference in fish mortality rates.
      Chris Bush did a podcast with some Texas biologists that's a great listen to anyone wanting to learn more about catch and release, conservation, etc. that sheds a lot of light on what causes fish mortality.
      I understand it *could* make a difference, but so would avoiding boat flips and a bunch of other stuff. In fact, quitting fishing altogether would probably make a difference, too.
      I'm sure my fish brothers and sisters would appreciate not getting a hook in the face.
      But, I'm not quitting fishing.
      And I'm not getting a different net.
      I identify as a sociopathic fish.
      Thanks.
