If I had known there would be as much rain and lightning as there was I would have never launched the boat into Lake Borgne.
Never!
Windfinder, as well as other weather services, only predicted a couple hours of light rain and, what was really appeasing to me, light wind and calm seas.
But you know the old saying, "Ya gotta go to know" and that's exactly what happened.
Lightning and rain chased me off my intended fishing spots, mostly rigs in Lake Borgne, and I had to roll with the punches in order to make the day happen.
Watch it all unfold in this week's fishing video.

Glad the forecast was spot on for ya!
Some really pretty trout, I like them when they are dark on the back.
Hahaha I know what you meant but it just struck me as funny when you said " he hit it on the retrieve " I was like damn I've never had one hit it on the cast 😅😂
Ha ha ha ha ha good point
@@LAFishBlog I live in VA but I do all my inshore fishing in NC, gonna have to get to Louisiana some day. Thanks for the videos.
Great video w lots of info ! Rockin the old school desert camo 👍🏻
That was some quality trout dude! Awesome video!
Great video Devin! I’ll have to send you some floaters for those grassy situations. Also, I’ll see you this winter
Can't wait! It's gonna be a great time!
Awesome trip, thanks!
That sound is eletricity
I have read about fishing poles singing and the line hanging in the air when static electricity is present so glad you left. I was getting nervous just watching you fish
I got to re-live it when editing the video and it made me nervous all over again, too. lol
@Paul T, we’ve had static arcing between rod tips in the rocket launchers as a squall or electric storm approached in Texas’ Laguna Madre. The air sounds like sizzling bacon. We take the rods out and lay them in the deck and then get down there with them, trying to lower all profiles and lightning rods. Graphite is a great conductor. We also had the air so full of charged static the line keeps rising or hovers, even as the lure descends. That’s another time we either duck down or run for cover.
"What kind of trout is this... hahm its a nice one" hahaha that was great
That sky was giving me anxiety watching this. 😂 And that music definitely worked.
Brave man to stay out there with that storm. Love the content! I like to see all the corkys and hardbaits you use
Well going back to the dock just would've put me in more lightning and rain, so it wasn't bravery, it was just being smart. LOL If it were the other way around I would've gone to the dock and called it a day. Nobody likes lightning.
@@LAFishBlog I meant more of when in the vid when you said you felt like your rod was building electricity but yeah love the content man!
Love you catch n release! Wish more LA residents did the same
Agreed. I just try to set the example from time to time.
Thanks for watching.
Man when you went back to the rig then 30 seconds later you was running I was laughing so hard. We all have been there when it seems like the storm is following you. You look over your shoulder and its a bit closer each time. Like a lion about to pounce. LOL. Awesome vid as usual bud.
lol it had me laughing, too....in post, not during the actual trip lol
@@LAFishBlog I bet. I have pulled up to a spot, bent down to get my rod and saw a flash of white light. Put the rod back down and said nope.
Solid day of CPR-ing 🤙🏽
Thanks for watching, Reed.
Damn u cover alot of water for launching out of the rigolets. Awesome video like usual. Keep up the great content!!!
Charged atmosphere . head to the boat ramp
Love the metal mix 🤘🤘🤘🤘
And them trout boy I fish hopedale often enough buddy just got a boat upgrade so soon will be in better waters
Awesome
Great video! Smart move running from those storms. Better to live to fish another than to be stubborn. Lake Borgne can get bad in a hurry. Where are those rocks you were fishing by? I don't remember any spots like that near the Rigolets.
Hey Jerry, thanks for watching.
While I don't have a Fishing Trip Review for this specific trip, it's only inside LAFB Elite where I divulge exact fishing locations via Post Trip Review videos.
It's where I put the day's GPS tracks on Google Earth and go over everywhere I went, detailing what worked and what didn't in order to better explain the execution of the fishing trip.

Tight lines!
Great video!
holy shizz its macgruber! lmao
The last couple months Ive done the exact route a few times. The only thing I need to incorporate is your infamous one knee drop pose.
LOTS of practice in the bathroom mirror to get that down pat lol
Good fishing Bro
Damn it Devin! LOL. I'm surprised you don't use a net with rubber webbing.
I do, it just always manages to get broken or lost. That cheapo net just won't quit. lol
Nice mess of trout on a not so nice day. Good job Devin.
15:58. Get da net ! 😂😂
that trout almost tail whipped the trusty clicker clean out the boat haha
you saw that lol
Me again I'm looking forward to buying myself a boat. I'm trying to find the set up as you have. What is you setup
Years ago around Morgan City, a guy didn't come home from fishing in that kind of weather, they found him the next day on the bottom of his boat--lightning got him
Yeah, he probably did the opposite of what I did and ran through the storm to supposed "safety".
One time I had a buddy who ran into a bunker during a mortar attack and, some frikkin' how, a mortar sailed perfectly into the door, plastered the guy next to him and did a good number on him as well.
If he had stayed outside he would have been fine.
Ever since then, and many more personal experiences like it since then, I've learned that perception is not reality, and not to tempt fate but that - most important - when it's your time, it is your time.
That's it. Nothing less, nothing more.
Might as well accept that reality now, because you're gonna die anyway.
Only thing missing is some hot grease! LOL
Hello Sir!! Semper fi! What are your thoughts on fishing when we have a full moon?
Nice trip! Pretty amazing that those big girls are still hanging out in that area where the salinity is so low. I can see by the bellies that their eggs sacks are big, so why aren't they in Chandeleur Sound?
Probably the same reason why bass don't spawn all at the same time, and spawn in waves. With that said I doubt those fish are still there now.
Some things we'll just never know.
Might have been that extreme cold back in February, but like you said Devin some things we’ll just never know
Great video btw Sir
Like the music change
Bro is literally receiving every signal that he has a high chance of getting struck by lightning and he is still trying to catch trout. Talk about dedication😂💀
great vid
Wow bro your best video yet .!
Glad you think so!
Devin what day is this from? I fished that same rig two weeks ago with 13kt winds. Needless to say it was rough. Crossed over to the Biloxi marsh and never found good water. Smart decision. Never disregard the weather!
Aw man, it all runs into one big fishing trip. I'd have to look.
What part of the lake or those rocks located at?
🤔🤔Rod hissing, fluorocarbon floating up, Hmmmm🤔🤔🤔
SWAMP GASSSSSSSS !!
Do a catch clean and cook man!! Love the vids
Man, I am way better at catching than I am at cooking. Y'all really don't want to watch that, it's a total goat rodeo. LOL
That and I'd rather release the fish. Thank you for watching!
Great video. I'm not real familiar with Lake Bourne, where did you launch at?
Great question. I launched from Rigolets Marina.
Thanks for watching!
The sounds ya heard most likely static electricity-had that happen at least three times-one time got zapped through graphite rod!!Probably shoulda moved to area where ya had no static electricity. Now ya have heard the name,Nash Roberts, and he is a guide,Nash IV,and he told me of a time when the hairs on back of his neck stood out, fishing line went goofy, left area and withing milliseconds, bolt of lightning hit water about where he was!!
What are your setups your using
The saltwater doesn’t mess up your boat and motors?
Are you being serious? The motor on that boat is the same motor they put on "saltwater" boats.
That hiss means there lightning real close. Your rod tip will hum
Nice video bud.
Thanks for watching, Jimmy. You've been on some good fish and I appreciate your reports.
good job! What your name?
Thank you!
My name is Devin, and you can learn more about me here:

Thanks for watching, Alan!
Are you in the CCA LOUISIANA STAR TOURNAMENT ? Was just wondering 🤔🤔🤔
No, I am not a member of CCA because they refuse to tackle the water access issue.
More on that here: www.lafishblog.com/why-i-am-a-card-carrying-cca-member/
@@LAFishBlog ok sir !!
It’s wind in your rod tip bud
Do you buy your reels/poles locally? Or do you order?
Both. I get them from Gus' Tackle in Slidell, a couple from Puglia's and Chag's in Metairie, some from Tackle Warehouse and most direct from Daiwa via their VIP program.
@@LAFishBlog thanks sir.
He won’t disrespect the cork again
ha ha ha ha ha ha aw c'mon I never did! lol
Do u ever fish Texas
You should take marsh man mason out
I need to charter you real soon
Unfortunately, I don't take out trips, but I have great recommendations for experience fishing guides who do:
