He did. U think your ETB sleeves don't friction against the card when moving pages in a binder? They do. Quite a lot actually. For collectors it's important info.
I’ve never had issues with ETB sleeves. Especially the older ones; I had a Blastoise ex full art I pulled from the Japanese version of Generations back in 2016 that I immediately sleeved and stored away in one of the XY era ETB sleeves. Last month, I sent it into PSA and it came back a 10. I think people are just too rough with the sleeves.
Ugh. I think I've decided that if I'm going to play with my cards (the TCG), I'm not going to be worried about the value/condition. If you're a collector trying to preserve cards, going once into an ETB sleeve, then into a binder... it's probably mostly fine. Not everyone wants graded cards. If you can keep a card NM, it will still have solid value if the card is desirable. If you're going to play the game with your cards, don't expect them to hold the highest values. The value is in the playability, the conversations you get to have with other players about the rare cards, how you got them, and why you love the art.
I never use ETB sleeves... nowhere does any ETB packaging I've ever seen say "PVC free" or any such pertinent information, so I always assumed they weren't meant for storing your collection, merely to store cards that you would play with. Thanks for the video!
Duude... I mean DUUUUDE! 1st - card would definitely get microscratches in almost any kind of more rigid sleve if you put it in and out 2000 times (maybe even in the penny sleeve). There are always some dust particles getting in and the plastic of the sleve definitely has some abrasion too, But i'm almost certain that if you did this test with any dragonshield or KMC or ultra pro sleeve after 2000 times result would be pretty much the same. 2nd - reverse holos from SWHS era are by far easiest cards to get microscratched. Like 40% of them come with microscratches right out of the booster. If this video proves anything it is that card will get scratched if you roughly sleeve and unsleeve it 2000 times repeatedly. But who does that? Nobody...
There’s also a proper way to sleeve a card. If your looking to psa submit cards definitely throw them in something other than an etb sleeve with a top loader go with a perfect fit sleeve
So I run a retro games shop and we do Pokemon stuff, ETB sleeves I always just give out free with low value cards and put anything expensive in a PVC penny sleeve instead for exactly this reason, we sent a load of stuff off to a graders a while back and they straight up returned it with a note that said "nah we're not touching this because there's too high a chance to damage the card on removal". The current S&V & CZ sleeves are particularly bad as every ETB we've opened they've had a 10 degree curve in them already due to overtight factory packaging that hasn't gone away even when left out weighted, or badly cut sharp tops & corners... The official sleeves look good, but they're just cheaply made rubbish.
Good to know ya I probably won't do it 2,000 times as you said but it most likely will cause some light Dmg it's just to tight and any hole loosens up after 2,000 times
One thing I've noticed is some ETB sleeves make it difficult to double sleeve with dragon shield smoke inners; even in the same pack. Some sleeves will allow the card to slide in while some will just not cooperate :/
Thats some useful info for any new ppl to double sleeving there. Just wanted to add in that in my experience ive had similar issues. Im running under the assumption that my perfect fit inners have a very very small variance in their sizes or just a bit of a lack of complete control over all the tolerances. It could also be that my outers have the slight variance but i have this issue regardless of which outers i pair with the inners. (For anyone curious the inners i used are Prismatic Defenders Holographic Perfect Fit Sleeves)
that kind of wear would only come from repeated sliding in and out. The main reason I don't like the ETB sleeves or use them is because they dull the look of the holo compared to a normal penny sleeve.
Here's a tip, get a fresh pack of sleeves and use all you cheap common cards to break in the sleeves it will make it easier to slide it in and out after it's broken in worked for me
@@jhondavism you obviously have never played a game of Pokémon before. The type of tearing I’m talking about isn’t even possible from scissors. The sleeves split after barely shuffling them.
When people say ETB Sleeves are damaging cards they dont mean swiping it in and out 2000 times. They mean the bending of the card because of the ETB Sleeves. This video was kinda redundant.
Would the etb sleeves be better for playing? Also do you recommend double sleeving the card with an ultra pro or an perfect fit dragon shield and the etb sleeves?
Maybe someone who has lots of TCG experience can chime in, but I believe most players don't like the ETB sleeves (I only play the TCG online). Personally, I would use a perfect-fit sleeve and then insert them into an ETB sleeve.
@@sleevenocardbehind Oh that so. I see thanks! I really wanted to know if its actually worth it to double sleeve your playing cards because I heard it isnt that worth it.
The sleeves that come in the ETB are the best option for the simple fact that they are manufactured by the Pokemon company. They are also rigid and of better quality than the ultra pro sleeves. On the other hand, no one has had problems with these sleeves unless that person is a scissorhands manipulator of the cards. This video is ridiculous.
Good thing I don't plan on swiping my cards in and out 2,000 times
Fr u take it out and put it in maybe 4 times total if that

Going through pages causes friction between ETB sleeves and the card all the time. Just not to an extend as shown in the video but it still happens
Who would've guessed that causing friction between two physical objects would cause deterioration? 😮
He really thought he was doing something here

Well I mean this prooves that you shouldnt sleeve and unsleeve your cards a million of times, so just decide what cards you want to keep sleeved :P
is a penny sleeve better or worse than dragon shield/KMC?
There’s also a proper way to sleeve a card. If your looking to psa submit cards definitely throw them in something other than an etb sleeve with a top loader go with a perfect fit sleeve
I always put a penny sleeve first before inserting into the ETB sleeve for more protection of my cards.
Do they fit well when having both on

Kinda sucks that the ETB sleeves suck, because the art on some are pretty nice
that kind of wear would only come from repeated sliding in and out. The main reason I don't like the ETB sleeves or use them is because they dull the look of the holo compared to a normal penny sleeve.
0:18 the sleeve in 9 months🤰
But who would sleeve/unsleeve a card thousands of times? 😂
Hopefully nobody lol. It's proof of concept!

The new matte ETB sleeves definitely tear after playing a few games, easier than the old glossy ones
Wow thats terrible lol whats the point if they self disintegrate? :P

Put the perfect fit sleeve on top to bottom it protects more than you think

I feel like it does since it like super stiff penny sleeves & top loaders is the way to keep your TC safe
My card went in once then went in a binder. I think I'm safe.
Dude. I don’t think it damages the card. But the sleeves probably gets lumpy and harder to shuffle.
Who the hell does this in any circumstance? Why wasn't this a mash shuffle test lol
Hey I enjoy this video and I really enjoy the love and support that the people of the youtube community shows
Thanks for watching! Love having people like you around
4:28 He jerked the crap out of that card 😂😂
You can tell you play magic more when your first thought is why do you have sleeves just for entering the battlefield
Question, if for only collecting, so i barely take out the card would it be bad or not for the card?
It will be fine!
But penny selves are not acid free but elite trainer box sleeves are acid free so in my opinion elite trainer box are better
like you said it use for gaming and shuffling. and there is why playset
I always use KMC perfect fit sleeves anyways. Always double sleeve.
I've been sending my cards to PSA in these sleevessssssssss
Could you share the type of scope you used with model number? Thanks in advance.
Search on Amazon: "Byesameyee USB Digital Microscope". It's just a cheap camera microscope!
Just buy clear sleeves and it's worth it or buy dragon shield sleeves and it's recommended
i mean lets be real if you use them sleeves other than putting cards from that set in them to put in a binder.. your crazy
They bend your cards
Lol less than a minute in obviously pulling in and out a card like that hitting off a plastic surface will damage the card its causing friction.
Card savers are worse
But the pokecenter japanease one are very good way much better quality
the new ones are terrible
Ur just bad at putting cards into sleeves lol I’m doing it right now with no issues
