I have a few questions to ask, hopefully you'd see this after so many years:
- In the binder with the normal cards and their reverse hollows:
..- Don't you worry about the backs of the cards sticking together?
..- Wouldn't penny sleeves cause the 2 cards to be possibly misalligned?
..- Would putting two fit sleeved cards like you did, normal and reverse holo, both in a penny sleeve be an issue?
- If I want to keep one card of each and their reverse holo, I know you use penny sleeves, but would innersleeves be a good idea to store them en mass?
..- Would it be a good idea to hold the entire set in innersleeve in a dedicated box for it?
..- Is it a better idea to leave the opening of the sleeve on the bottom or the top of the card?
..- Do you think etbs would be a good storage case for these?
- For binders in general
..- I imagine you use the matte sleeves in order to center the card in the middle, right? as to not have them be offset like normal penny sleeves would.
..- Binder sizes, what do you prefer between showing off a collection via a small binder verses a bigger one?
I'm always available to answer questions. Here are my answers to yours:
- I don't worry about the backs of the cards sticking together. Cards sticking together happens with humidity is too high and moister gets in and the cards start to stick to everything. After several years of having my cards this way, I've had zero issues with cards sticking.
- Not sure what you mean by "misaligned" cards in the penny sleeves. If cards move within the penny sleeves in the binder, I wouldn't mind. It's not going to damage them. Plus, any valuable cards are put in top loaders, card savers, one touches, etc.
- I don't put cards in perfect fit sleeves and then into a penny sleeve. I also don't put two cards in a perfect fit sleeve; fitment is too tight and would cause the cards to warp over time. I have stopped using perfect fit sleeves since they're more expensive than penny sleeves and I don't double sleeve anymore. I'm just a simple collector.
- I kind of answered this question above. I don't recommend putting two cards in a perfect fit inner sleeve. The cards will warp over time due to the tight fitment. Use penny sleeves if you want to double up on cards. Some cards have more than two variants and I just put everything together in the penny sleeve. Like the S&V starters; there are normal, reverse, and regular holo versions of those cards. I put all three of them in a single penny sleeve and then into the binder. No issues.
- Having an entire set in inner sleeves and in a box is a fine way of storing your collection. Even naked cards is fine. As long as the area is not humid and the temperature is regulated, the cards will be fine.
- I never had good luck storing cards in an inner sleeve and putting them. upside down in an outer sleeve. It takes too much time and sometimes the cards get exposed on the bottom anyways. If you want 4-way protection, use sealable sleeves like Dragon Shield's. I have them linked in the description.
- Using ETBs is a good way to store a collection. However, most people use them to store their bulk.
- To answer your binder questions; I recommend using whatever you can afford. For my personally, I use matte sleeves like Ultra Pro zipper binders or something similar and store my cards in penny sleeves and place them in the binders. I don't worry about cards moving around as there isn't much room for them to move around anyways. I also don't transport my collection, so worrying about them moving isn't something I do. I also use 12-pocket binders to store my collection. They're larger, but look nicer in my opinion when showing off your collection. 9-pocket binders are also good and fit on regular bookshelves. I'm not a fan of binders smaller than a 9-pocket unless you want to store a very specific type of card like all trainers, all Charizards, or something similar. I sort my collection by set and set numbers. Anything above the set number goes into a top loader an in my BCW card box. I've made a review on it on the channel; I suggest checking it out.
Hope this answers all your questions. Feel free to join my discord if you have any other questions. I'm always online, so I'll answer eventually.
*EDIT* - I'll be pinning your comment for more visibility. You asked some good and pretty common questions. Should help others out as well.
@@MxGlory Thank you very much! I honestly did not expect a response so fast!
Regarding fitting two cards in an inner sleeve... I meant more so, each card has its own inner sleeve, and then they both go in an inner, instead of having them pressed against each other without something separating the two cards atleast.
I am only just starting to understand how everything works between collecting, playing the game and so your videos, so i had to do a lot of researching and trial and error.
Actually, would be a nice video idea to like do an update on how you store things nowadays since you've posted the videos. Including stuff like why double sleeving doesn't really matter for collectors.
Again, thank you very much!
@@salehalhakeem4466 Ah ok. I get your question. I've never tried putting two cards in their own perfect fit inner sleeve and then putting them in a penny sleeve for a binder. Something I could try in a video for sure.
I have been meaning to make a more up-to-date version of this video. I still stand by everything I said in this video, but I've tweaked my collection just a big. For example, the double sleeving into a top loader. I've found that it's too much work and not necessary. The only cards in my collection that are still double sleeved in top loaders and in a top loader bag are my vintage cards (base set, jungle, and fossil). Everything else gets a single penny sleeve in a top loader; no top loader bag.
@@MxGlory Yep, that does seem a bit excessive, but for base set cards, I imagine you'd do all you can to make sure they never get damaged
Hi just to let you know that you’re video is the most informative I have seen about sleevin the Pokémon cards ! Thank you so much
Glad I could help! If you have any questions, let me know.
@@MxGlory I don't have any dragon shield sleeves, would regular ultra pro penny sleeves and a sealable work in a toploader?
@@misterscorbunny5524 Ultra Pro penny sleeves work perfectly fine with a top loader.
Thanks so Much for the Review... Super Happy you like our Sleeves.....🤗
really appreciate the video i found this info very useful thank you!
I don't collect Pokémon cards but your videos were helpful for protecting my sports trading cards and movie trading cards
That's awesome! Glad I was able to help you out.
thanks for the tip on superior fit team packs! Exactly what I need!
I watched A LOT of videos about this - and this is the best one out there, thanks a ton. What do you store your base set top loaders in? I'm gonna try the Arkhive 800+.
Glad my video helped you out. I actually made a review video on the new BCW 3200ct Bin they released back in January. I store all my top loaded cards and some Magnetic One Touches in those. They're more expensive than the traditional cardboard storage boxes, but the quality is pretty good and if you cherish your cards like I do, then I recommend them. Check out my review for some more detailed info on the card bin I'm referring to.
That's interesting. I've used KMC Perfect Fit for years and yesterday I've tested the Dragon Shield. I still prefer the KMC, that "clear" effect didn't cativate me enough (and it's around $10 bucks more expensive here). So, between these two, it's clearly just visual preference for what I did noticed. Good video!
You are a life saver. I was looking for perfect fitting toploader team bags and that company also does perfect fitting one touch bags. Did not find them in europe so again thank you.
Great video, no fake emotions, no bullshit, and straight to the point. I love it.
I need to look into a Top Loader Binder to preserve my singles that I have in those hard covers, any suggestions on where I can get those or recommended brands? Also Great Video my friend! :)
There used to be one or two top loaders binders back in the day but now there's so many. Top Deck makes a good one, but it's expensive. X Pro makes one that's $30 USD.
Btw I use dragon shield sealables in a dragon shield zipster binder for my personal collection
In addition to sleeves, toploaders, and binders, I also us BCW shoe boxes to store my bulk and top loaded cards. Hope you guys enjoy!
Don't forget to catch me live here on this channel. Drop by and ask any questions about collecting on my stream and I'll answer them for you.
Great vid bro a lot of information, but just for consideration, many of us collectors are moving on from D-Ring or Ring binder all together to zipper binders such as the new Ultra-Pro suede 9 pocket zipper binder. It also comes as a 12 pocket binder for a better set visual over look if that’s how one would decide to store ones Pokémon cards. This being that with ring binders, the pages would always rub against the metal ring when the pages flip over, exposing the cards on the far left side of the pages to hit them and may cause the edges of the cards to whitened. With the zipper binders this problem is eliminated.
I've moved my entire collection to Ultra Pro 3x4 binders as well. But the issue you mentioned only happens with o-ring binders, which no one should ever use for their collection. D-ring binders only.
@@MxGlory cool I’m glad, keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
Great video! Really informative and I’d say it helped me a ton. I just want to ask-how do you store the cards you keep in a top loader? A top loader provides great protection for the card, but where do you suggest leaving your top loaders to keep them safe?
The reason I sleeve my toploaders is to protect it from dust and anything that might slip into the top loader. I also do this to prevent scratches on the toploaders. If you have 4-way protection on the card, sleeving the toploader isn't necessary.
The size difference between those two inner sleeves is probably due to one company measuring from inner edges and the other from the outer edges.
Very helpful
Very good video!
Thank you for this video, the way I protect my cards bend my cards. IT HURTS TO SEE ALT ART EEVEELUTIONS BENDING!!! So thank you very much
I wish i would of done this with my cards. having moved so many times with them they aren't in the best shape
Damn bro! Lots of information. Can you send me your links to what you do to assemble that casing for your alakazam, in order? I got lost in the heavy mix + not sure what everything is by being new to collecting. Thank you.
Everything I talk about is in the description. But for the Alakazam specifically, I first put it in a Dragon Shield sealable sleeve, then into a Dragon Shield matte clear outer sleeve, then into an Ultra Pro top loader, and finish it off with a Superior Fit Innovations team bag.
Thanks for the awesome video! I was trying to get the psa slab protector but couldn’t find it, would you tell me which ones are in the website? Thanks!
If you're referring to the team bags, it's these: www.superiorfitsleeves.com/Superior-Fit-Sleeves-for-PSA-Graded-Card-Slabs-p/psa-0001.htm
Great video, I’m using a penny sleeve, pull tab, toploader and the same toploader sleeves, I also put them in a 4x6 BSP-46/ BK 204 pocket pioneer photo album as a toploader binder. The toploaders move around less with the toploader sleeves.
My question is should I double sleeve them like you do, I don’t want the cards to move around or to get damage/dust using just penny sleeves or am I overthinking it?
In my opinion, when you're using a toploader sleeve, there's no reason to double sleeve. The only reason I did it was because I double sleeved my vintage sets before I got my hands on the toploader sleeves. Rather than removing one of the sleeves, I left them alone and just put them in the toploader sleeves. How you're storing your cards is perfectly fine. No need to double sleeve the card in a toploader when the toploader itself is already in a sleeve. And going with the penny sleeves is a good choice since the cards won't move much compared to a perfect fit sleeve.
@@MxGlory my top loaders always get dusty a little one way or another so i doube sleeve
Have you ever tried the Top Deck binders? They're WAY better than the Ultra Pro. I'm a huge Ultra Pro fan and I've used all their sleeves and binders for many years, but I recently changed to Top Deck binders. They are just that 15- 20% better. Just enough to make it worth it. By the way, I still use the UP inner sleeves for my cheaper cards, but prefer Dragon Shield inner sleeves for the more expensive cards that go in my Top Deck binder. I also agree and use the black back outer sleeves for my Promos and top cards to help easily identify them, but I use the Dragon Shield outer black back sleeves. You can get them in any color back though, which is especially good if you create player decks.
I actually reviewed Top Deck's top loader binder in a video and I like it. I didn't know about Top Deck until a year ago when I found their top loader binder. They make some good stuff and do recommend their products as an alternative to Ultra Pro. At the time, I just went with Ultra Pro because I liked the outer material of their 12-pocket binders.
I know this video is a little old and I am a bit late on this info but I found that the KMC sleeves are just a tad bit lengthier than the dragon shields. Some of my v or vmax pokemon cards would fit in dragon shield just barely to the point that the edge of the card would be flush if not slightly poking out of the sleeves. With the KMC ones, I did not have that problem. I like for the sleeves to be slightly lengthier to prevent scraping/rubbing on the card itself when removing or reinserting a card into the binder.
That's interesting. I never ran into an issue where perfect fit sleeves had different dimensions. Could be a QA issue. But I have since moved to penny sleeves for my collection. I like the extra room and they fit in my Ultra Pro binders pretty well with no wiggle room.
Nice introduction of the available sleeves! But then, I'm quite hesitant to put into perfect sleeve and then into the magnet holder.
If in the future you want to grade the card, perfect fit sleeve is a bad option right?
Due to it being harder to take out / potential damage during the process.
Mostly using penny sleeves and toploader to keep for pending submission for grading from what i observe.
For grading submissions, the recommendation is a penny sleeve into a card saver 1. When mailing it, put the card saver 1 in between two pieces of cardboard with a rubber band holding it together. Some people use toploaders for submissions, but all grading services prefer card saver 1 and list them in their "how to mail submissions" section of their website.
@@MxGlory For your collections that u sleeved with perfect fit are those you not going to grade but for collection right? :)
@@Skise Correct. They're just in my collection. All the cards I get graded go into penny sleeves and then into a card saver 1.
@@MxGlory Thanks for the reply! You're awesome! :)
Can I dubbel sleeve my yugi oh cards and put them in my toploaders ultra pro regular? And do you have other solutions to sleeve my toploaders because In Europe the team bags are out of sale can’t find them so maybe you suggest a different approach?
Double sleeved cards fit pretty well in an ultra pro toploader. That's how I protect my base set pokemon cards. The only toploader that won't fit a double sleeved card are the ones from Hobby Lobby.
Buy the red and black Japanese kmc penny sleeves. They're the best in my opinion
Dragon shield dimension is the max size for the card. So they are 64mm.
Also I tried the KMC perfect fit hard. Not a big fan, too tight. I won't put my old $1k+ mtg cards in them lol! Regular + top loader + a bag is enough for me...
Thanks for the info, I didn't know about these bags, I am gonna get some if I can (I don't live in the US).
agreed, KMC oerfect Hard too tight.
Me and my GF just started collecting cards, what binder do you recommend? & should common cards also be sleeved before going into the binder sleeve?
Any D-ring binder will work. As for binder pages, I recommend side loading pages. Be aware that not all binder pages will fit penny sleeves, as you can see from my video. Perfect fit sleeves will fit any binder pages however. And yes, I do recommend sleeving common/uncommon cards as well to preserve them. Oh, and binders with built in pages are great and those will usually fit penny sleeves. Good luck and have fun collecting!
@mxglory what’s the best sleeve for the one touch mag case?
Any perfect fit sleeve will be best with a one touch. I have them linked in the description.
Hey man, would you recommend putting my cards in perfect fits and double sleeving them for the time being and then only when i want to grade them should i put them in penny sleeves? Because i’m not really sure if perfect fits would damage cards in the long term? Could you
advice bro? thanks man 😬
Doing it that way is fine. But I recommend putting the cards you want to grade into penny sleeves and then into card saver ones now. It's better to prep the cards you want to grade now and have a pile of them for when you want to send them in. You avoid having to re-sleeve them and potentially damaging them in the process.
I was wondering is it safe if I use dragon shield matte only for cards in a binder? Or can the little bumps from the matte can damage the cards over time if no inner sleeves are used?
The bumps are only on the outside of the sleeve. People single sleeve their cards in them all the time.
I could use your help, what’s the name is the sleeves that can fit in the ultra-pro one touch magnet(link please if possible). And does ultra pro make a sleeve that can fit in it? Please and thank you

Question, do you use premium or the regular ultra pro toploaders to fit double sleeved cards? Thanks
Regular. Premium ones are just made of recycled materials and there's no difference in quality.
Hey I have a question regarding the toploader & double sleeving method. Do you use the regular sized ultra pro toploader? & also, how difficult is it to remove the double sleeved card from the toploader? Thanks so much! (:
I do use the regular Ultra Pro toploaders. Putting in a double sleeved card isn't that difficult, but it does take a bit to remove it. Best way to remove it is to pry the toploader open and put a finger on the back of the sleeve (texture side) and pull it out since the front of the sleeve is smooth, making it easier to pull out. Hope that answers your questions.
@@MxGlory Thanks so much man! I’ve been looking all over the internet, but I couldn’t find any answers to this. So, I appreciate your help!! (:
Hi! The superior fit team bags you use on your toploader seem like something I want, but the company you linked to appears to have a very buggy website. Do you know of any other website where I can purchase them from? It will have to be on the web as I'm not in the US. Cheers.
Amazon has a bundle of penny sleeves, toploaders, and perfect fit top loader sleeves: amzn.to/3XSz47L

One touch has there own bags
I use Ultra Pro Premium Toploaders, but the past couple years they’ve been a mess. Every pack I open seems to have scratches, small pieces of debris on and inside the toploaders, plastic deformities, just messy. Some packs are worse than others, but just about every one I open has some amount of toploaders that I put on the side and don’t use. So I have to inspect each one, and will clean off the debris before using them. That’s becoming a huge pain. Do you guys have the same issues with your Ultra Pro Premium TL’s? I’ve been looking to switch to a different brand but I’ve been using these for so long I’d like to stay uniform, and they are slightly stronger than other brands. Where do you buy yours from? I order through Amazon or eBay. Are yours such a mess also? Im wondering if that’s how all of their production is shipped from the factory.
I have had a couple top loaders have chips in them, but not scratches. I bought a ton on eBay a while back and I'm still using them. If I ever run out, I know my local game store has some. You could try BCW top loaders to see if they have the same quality issues.
Oh, and I use regular Ulta Pro top loaders, not the premium ones. Only difference between the two is that the premium ones are made of recycled material. Not worth the extra cost imo.
Heyy, great vid. Can you maybe explain why some people say to dont use perfect fit sleeves? I have dragon shield perfect fit sleeves for my cards.
I don't know anyone who's opposed to using perfect fit sleeves. They're great for that snug fit and are used primarily with TCG. Buuuuut, depending on your environment, perfect fit sleeves could warp the cards if the humidity is too high. Something to consider if you plan on using them for long term storage.
@@MxGlory thanks for the quick response! Yeah, bending is one of the things i had read. But okey it has to do with the environment, thanks!
So you put a card in a resealable dragon shield sleeve, then in dragon shield perfect fit sleeve ?
No. I used either one or the other.
Do you recommend putting the cards in my bicycle spokes to make that cool ratatat sound?!
only if its a 1st edition charizard
@@ugandanknuckles464 do you know da wey
Is it ok if I use only Toploaders to protect Pokemon cards without any sleeves?? Please answer.
You could, but I wouldn't recommend it. There'll be too much extra space for the card to move around and damage the sides and corners.
It won't fit with my dragon shield sleeve
People have said that the dragon shield sealable sleep scratches the card. Is this true?
Not true. My entire base set is in sealable sleeves and they're fine.
Could the dragon shield re sealable sleeves cause damage to original base set pokemon holos over time? Or would they damage the ends of the holos when putting them in dragon shield re sealables due to rolling that other piece of plastic in? Cheers mate
Highly unlikely for the card to get damaged in any way in a sealable sleeve. the sleeve is thin enough that they just slide into place and the card never comes out if taken care of and stored properly.
@@MxGlory do think the re sealable sleeve are putting to much pressure ob the edges of the foil pokemon cards? 👍
@@harrymonk6 They don't put pressure on the edges at all. The sleeves are the same size at perfect fits, but with an extra flat to protect the exposed edge.
nice vid does the perfect fit sleeves feel a bit too tight on the pokémon cards i heard it could also damage the card
Perfect fit sleeves can cause some damage to the corners if you're not careful. I've had a few card corners get caught on the edge of the sleeve when I put them. But that shouldn't deter you from using them. Perfect fit sleeves are still a good choice.
@@MxGlory how about bending? i also heard that they put a lot of pressure in the card and can bend it
@@luc1.1 I've never had any of the cards I put in perfect fit sleeves bend UNLESS they have been sitting out and the air around is humid. Moisture causes cards to bend; not so much the type of sleeve.
@@MxGlory thanks i was wondering whether you could use penny sleeves as the outer sleeves with dragon shield perfect fits would that work?
@@luc1.1 You could since the perfect fit is smaller than a penny sleeve, but I've never seen anyone do that. They usually put it into a deck sleeve instead.
I got the shining fates charizard vmax from one single pack I got from tcgplayer I was shook lol
That's awesome. I have yet to pull that card. I might trade one of my rainbow chonks for it.
Thanks for the video! I’m pretty much gonna copy your set ups lol. One thing I would add is that I’ve purchased a new ultra pro 3x3 premium folder with the elastic strap and after putting a card in with only a penny sleeve, some tend to slide out of the side. Not completely, but I could easily see how they could be worse off being partially out rather than sliding out all together. What helps is putting another card in with it.
Yeah that's pretty common. As you start filling out the binder, it'll happen less and less. I usually put reverse holos and non holos of the same card in the same slot which helps fill in the pocket a little better.
Is it okay to put a card in a perfect fit sleeve into the penny sleeve?
Technically yes, but you're not really adding any extra protection other than providing another thin layer. You're better off throwing it in an outer sleeve instead with a much thicker layer.
@@MxGlory thanks for the reply!
@ MxGlory Would you know what the difference is between the premium and regular Ultra Pro Toploaders?
Premium and regular Ultra Pro toploaders are almost identical. The only difference is that the premium ones are made of recycled plastic, which I guess is supposed to make the consumer feel better about buying those over the regular ones. Go with the regular ones and save a few dollars.
@@MxGlory Thanks for the detailed explanation, that really helped me out :D

How do you protect a sealed booster pack?
Protecting a booster pack is a whole different beast and frankly more expensive. Depending on your budget, you could send in a booster back to PSA to have graded; in which case that would protect it much better than any other solution. Another way of protecting a sealed booster pack would be to buy a case from someone on etsy. I've seen a few sellers on etsy that sell booster packs cases; but they are a little pricey.

I thought about making an update video, but I didn't really change how I store my cards. Only things I've changed since the video is that I now use penny sleeves with top loaders and I no longer double sleeve my cards. I did leave my base set alone however, double sleeved and in superior fit bags.
@@MxGlory any reason for the change or just not needed so much ?
@@brotherebola6849 It's just not needed so much. And my collection has been expanding so it can get pricey buying a bunch of sleeves. I keep my cards out of direct sunlight and in binders so I don't require more than a penny sleeve and a top loader for the more expensive cards.
So I am gonna buy a binder that can you close Whit a zipper and if you have a special ex/lvl x card you can do it in a peny sleev and than in the binder is that than enough protection ? Or not ? Or do you need deck sleevs ? Or bubble sleev?
Penny sleeve into the binder is good enough. You can also single or double sleeve them. Up to you.
@@MxGlory ah oké thx men for the reaction 🤙 yhea I watched more vids and some people say in deck sleevs the card will bend a little but yhea they say too if you pud your cards in to a binder put the card in a penny sleevs i don’t understand that , they say don’t do a card in a penny sleevs and than in the binder put them in the binder whit a deck sleev . They say in a penny sleevs the card can move so yhea that’s bad . Bud you say a penny sleev is good enough . But yhea deck sleevs are better i think i don’t know but in denk sleevs you can’t see the back of the card and that is terrible you need too put the card out of the sleeve too see the back in a penny sleevs you don’t need that so waht is the best thing ? Or do you know where I can buy transparante deck sleevs ? ( srr for my long story) 😂
@@roccovanderlek3022 dragon shield makes good transparent deck sleeves
@@MxGlory what do you think is the best option to do it based on my research?
@@roccovanderlek3022 Single sleeve in a binder. Whatever looks good and is in your budget will work. I personally use penny sleeves in ultra pro zipper binders.
