If you wait for the leaves on the vine to grow, the leaf will equal the length in between each node, making a full vine. I guess this is good advice if you want a bushy plant. But if you are growing hoyas, you know they vine! Will you ever get flowers if you try to make a bush from a vine?

Not everyone grows hoyas for the flowers, it's all just personal preference
Do the non-leafy vines (new growth) root as easily at the nodes as other vines (I’m thinking pothos)?
The vines with no leaves will root but they take a very long time to grow. Hoyas will root along the stem, not just at the nodes
