Nailed it. I'm not an economist so I don't know particulars, but the Trump economy until the pandemic may have been better. But the pandemic and its aftereffects are still something everyone on all sides are recovering from fiscally due to both policies implemented in the first pandemic year with Trump and the subsequent year with Biden. The pandemic itself was a factor out of both candidate's control and continues to have consequences that are not solely controllable by whomever is in power. To say Trump will handle the economy better BECAUSE of his pre-pandemic economy is not a good argument for me, since the rules have changed. We have no idea how he would handle the new normal because you can't do it the same way as before. Maybe he would handle it better, maybe not, but his platform is that it will "return to what it was," which I think is false logic because the pandemic changed too many moving parts.

They lied to that audience that the police was killed that day and this was an armed insurrection which wasn't. There were no weapons. Now are you going to look at the political persecution people who walked into the Capitol peacefully faced? Months in prison without trial. I doubt it.

UA-cam scrubbed my original post so here’s the re-post: 95 percent of Americans don’t understand how our government works. A relative of mine was a lobbyist ON Capitol Hill for over two and a half decades and here’ s what I gathered from conversations with him. Congress is a smoke screen for the rich and powerful corporations, let’s call them the characters behind the curtain. Lobbyists are the intermediaries. They don’t just show up at a congressional office of a congressman and pitch a spiel. That’s the overt part. Covertly all sorts of shit take place in and out of their offices. In restaurants, homes, back rooms, etc. Gifts, favors, and money are exchanged for a congressman’s vote. Once in a while the curtain gets pulled back and a judge or congressman gets exposed. There are some things that congress gets to direct, but most of what gets passed into law has been voted on by a congress that has been “influenced” by those characters behind the curtain. End of story. WAKE UP AMERICA! The rich and powerful run this country NOT congress or even the president!
There are numerous house members who take no lobby payoffs and routinely return sketchy donations. I put more faith in what they say than those that have filled their coffers with blood money.
We want clean air, water, land and sea and regulations enforced to achieve this. Plundering the planet for profit by the greedy, needs to be strictly enforced.
That's the simple, ideal world view. In reality, there is no shortage of regulations that are redundant, pointless, stifling and even counterproductive. Case in point: Housing regulations in Seattle that are supposed to allow construction of ADUs to ease the housing shortage. The regulations are so onerous that costs and time to build are so high that people simply gave up on it. The previous council also put more and more regulations on landlords with the result that small landlord sold their properties and subsequently reduced the stock of apartments/homes that were affordable.
I think Bill is getting dislike of multiculturalism mixed up with racism. I think most of Europe is waking up to the downside of multiculturalism. Culture doesn't mean race.
Culture is the biological extension of race. Israel is what it is because of the racial character of Jews. So is Germany. So is England. The nation state is based on race... a problem only if you freak out about racism. Liking your extended family more than strangers isnt bad.
The Constitution doesn't need to be rewritten; it needs to be reread, over and over again. Everything is right there. The next step is to elect politicians who will actually enforce those laws as written in the Constitution.

Anyone who can’t admit the pandemic impact on economy and inflation, it’s one-off nature, its recovery trajectory should not speak about it. This could have been a uniting event for USA.
It did have some impact for sure ... but it got worse when things should been getting better. For example bought some canned green beans and corn just last January that was on sale at Winco .. The sale price was 50 cents. I am glad I stocked up because they are on sale again now .... at 70 cents. And that is just in the last 6 months. Everything keeps going up noticeably ... even last week the big box of Special K cereal I was buying for $4.99 was now at a "sale price" of $6.99. And forget about bacon ... just make due with lunch meat ham and pretend it's bacon. Yes it is very fair to say the pandemic cause inflations ... but it has been going up very noticeably even now. Kind of like jobs. The current administration bragged about job growth since 2020 ... you know ... the jobs a ton of people were layed off from ... and turns out their was a leak and the dept of labor had to correct the numbers given there was 818,000 less jobs after all.
@@ronpetersen2317 No, it got worse, and then better at the same rate as all the other major countries. They all had a spike in inflation similar to the US. And a comparison of a store's sale price on an item now, and six months ago, is no accurate indicator of inflation. Maybe they over-ordered green beans six months ago so they marked the sales price down more. I don't see prices continuing to go up. Inflation is now 2.9%...so prices are only 2.9% higher than a year ago. And for over 12 months now the reported number each month has been in the low 3's.

Well not really shocking that Bill Maher’s audience is left leaning and despise Trump. Of course they will disagree with that
No it wasn't. It's just that they've been brainwashed that a mostly peaceful event at the Capitol just to go sit in Pelosi's chair was evidence of trying to overthrow the government.
They've also been lied to that Trump encouraged. He told them to march peacefully and patriotically.

Why do idiots keep saying Wake Up America but when they do they’re derided as WOKE!😊
You mean the infamous K Street in Washington DC?
yes .. the top 10% ( the top 1 + next 9) controls 80% of our wealth with the 'bottom' 90% scrapping for the remaining 20% ..

I often wonder what it would take to change it. Seems like it would take drastic measures

Bill Mahr pimpin’ for the RNC.
@@DonSchmidt-hj2gd Yup.
@@DonSchmidt-hj2gd Exactly 👍. Ever since he couldn’t get permits for his backyard shed, he’s gotten more contemptuous, angry and cynical. Too bad, he used to be compelling.
“Where my daughter isn’t competing against men on a swim team or a wrestling match” …. This about sums up the Republican Party
Because wanting your daughter to compete against other girls is WEIRD....right?? 🤣🤣🤣
yes. really top class intellectual and heavy on policy. btw. that's irony.

@@CS-zz2bf you losers do NOTHING but delete comments like the authoritarians you claim to be railing against. Make it make sense 🤣🤣🤣
As a moderate (left of center) I like lower taxes, women’s rights, universal health care (or at least never let someone to be cancelled for a preexisting condition or excessive premiums) and a better immigration policy which we adhere to. If the republicans were to have run a sensible moderate Republican they would have had a much better chance of winning. In my opinion tossing out the far Rt and the far left progressives would be a starting point. John Kasich or Larry Hogan come to mind as republicans I could have lived with. The question I always come back to is “Why this guy(Trump)”?
Go Kamala!!

Thank you to Collins for calling out Crenshaw!
OMG Collins is a clown.

😂as soon as bill said "u know he will never concede"...his head blew tf off!🤯🤯😂
George W. Bush was never called a legitimate President in 2000 and Hilary Clinton created a Russia Hoax in 2016 because she lost. Also, 70% of Americans think that something happened in 2020. Trump lost by 44,000 votes in 3 Swing States, where he lost Georgia by 11,000, and Atlanta can't properly track 300,000+ (which will only see the light of day if you see Georgia News like I do.) Don't tell me about conceding.
My perennial question is evil or stupid. Rep. Crenshaw seems smart and then when he said that Jan. 6 was peaceful even though he was there, he is clearly evil.
@@alangrosenheider9654 To not lose a primary where a crazy person who actually believes it was stolen would take his place. He's between a rock and a hard place like so many other republicans and it's Trumps fault. I agree he gave a bad answer because the honest answer may mean you lose a sane republican in congress for an insane one. The democrats did fund several election deniers in 2022 because they knew they'd be easier to beat even if some of them one.

@@challengerbrant You mean the Capitol and NO they were NOT "invited". The officers were overwhelmed by the size of the violent mob of Trump loonies and wisely did not try to physically confront them at certain perimeters.

Congress never certified an election. The states certify their Slates and then send to Congress and the VP to read. This part was always ceremonial……. States Rights, Dan
States rights? So abortion is not a constitutional right and should be left to the States correct?
@@jakelachance4408technically, No, abortion is NOT a constitutional right. Show me where it is written in the there?
Do I believe a woman should have a right to choose, yes, but that still doesn't make it a constitutional right.
None of this has anything to do with the certification of the election. OP is correct, it is the states that certified the election, and then is read and recorded in the joint Congress.

Bill is completely misinformed about Russia. Russia has more than 190 ethnic groups within its borders. Almost 20% of the population is not of Russian ethnicity. Many of these groups are Turkic and East Asian.
Yep. And what about Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway? Maher is delusional on this subject.
Well, "expert" - YOU are wrong! Spent over 20 years there, Russians are racist, majority treat the "fellow" Central Asians, Tatars, Klamyks, and all other ethnicities like lower class or slaves.. and for the past 3 years they're bombing the shit out of "next-door Slavic brothers" in Ukraine. There you have it.
Why does Caitlin Collin’s answer every question with Donald Trumps name in her response? Its weird.
We have an election coming up, and he's trying to win it. Hope this helps.
