    I am watching this 2015 vlog in 2020 and I am impressed with how much you have developed and improved your content. Not to say this is bad, not at all, but it’s wonderful to see how successful you have been with growing your channel, expanding your content and its whole aesthetic. Sometimes things only become noticeable when they are contrasted with something. You’ve really crafted a unique visual personality for your channel over these five years. Thank you for all the work you have been doing to make your channel something special for amateur (me) and professional aviation enthusiasts.

    I've been a subscriber for a few years now and just decided to go back to your earliest videos and I love the old content but obviously, as you should, you have developed and perfected your presentation and methodology and it shows how far you have come but I have a request/suggestion. I would love to see a good chunk of your old content topics covered in your newer developed style. This video is a perfect example. It would be interesting to see and hear a more advanced discussion with the animation and added research you presently do on how pilots balance career and family. In fact I've watched your first 7 videos from 9 years ago and all of them would make great videos. Regardless I love your page. I subscribe to several hundred UA-cam pages and you and Milo miniminuteman are unquestionably my two favorites and have been for quite awhile now. Thank you for all the great content, history, information and entertainment.

      +Edgar Castro where did you go to school or did you go to the military to get your training? I'm considering either going to Embry riddle to get my commercial license or go into the Air Force. Hey Dude! Thanks for this. I am watching this content now in 2023 when it’s already 8 years old. I‘m just getting into aviation and tinkering with the idea of becoming an airline pilot. Would you mind revisiting these questions so that they reflect your current situation? You’re producing so much content nowadays. But how did your passion as an actual pilot develop? How much did the working conditions at the airline change? Are you still happy about your job? What changed generally in modern airlines? I would be most thankful for recent insights :))

    Hey Petter, I'm a big fan of you and your channel. Cool to see where it all started. My original career aspiration was to become an airline pilot. I got part way through my PPL training way back in 1989, including about 15 hours of soloing (unforgettable!), but ended up giving up on the dream due to the high cost of training, and the poor job prospects at the time. I often wonder where I'd be now if I had pushed on. Anyway, now I live the dream through your "absolutely fantastic" channel, and through MS Flight Simulator, currently learning the PMDG Boeing 737-800.

    Another guy in the comment section also had a question of what you make. Now I know that it varies from company to company, what you fly/size of it but still knowing a REAL number is very reassuring compared to just some number online. I do understand that this is very personal question and you could just pop out a figure of around what you make to alleviate any awkwardness. Thx.

I'd love to see a video on how the profession differs for men and women, for example maternity leave, height restrictions (if any) for female pilots and any challenges females in the aviation world face that men don't (and vice versa). Great work, Mentour!

    Excellent video I just came across your channel whilst having a quick break from my ATPL theory studying and found it very motivating. I've now subscribed and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for more videos.
    I'm studying the flight planning subject of my ATPL at the moment, so I would be grateful if you could do a video on what FP the flight crew actually do before a flight and where that is done. I've heard stories of pilots doing minimal flight planning and leaving it all to the operations officers but I've also spoke to crew who do some of the FP at home before even setting off for the crew room.

      +Samadhi Herath hey how's it going ? , the training is it easy thr theory?

    • @samadhi1995
      @samadhi1995 8 років тому

      +Megadelorix I found the theory to be easier than training because with training you have to have a feel for what you are doing. It took me a while to get where I'm in training :) but what you have to do is be headstrong and say your not going to quit and continue. Think about the end goal, the dream!

    • @megadelorix6652
      @megadelorix6652 8 років тому

      +Samadhi Herath where are you completing you're pilot course? which country? and is the maths hard because I'm not a math genius

    • @samadhi1995
      @samadhi1995 8 років тому

      +Megadelorix no the math is easy for me. I was training at University of North Dakota, one of the best aviation universities in the world. But recently I moved to another state so I'm gonna continue somewhere else, it's a aviation school not a uni. And it's more affordable, that's the main reason I'm moving. I really do like math I find it easy Cz I have done up to applied calculus in high school. However I had to retake math once in uni because I'm coming from Iceland so they didn't accept so yeah. Oh the country is USA

    Hello :) I have a few questions on the career path of becoming a pilot:
    1. Would you consider becoming a pilot the best 1st career path? Is it worth it to become an engineer then go into piloting school.
    2. If I were to become a pilot, will i get employed right away?
    3. Is there a way to be relocated after being assigned to a base far away from your home?
    4. Being a pilot, how beneficial is the retirement plan and what is the generated retirement age?
    5. What is you're opinion on other flight airlines to work for such as Air Canada, Qatar Airways, Emirates, American airlines? a6. How long did it take you to pay off all your training debts?
    My name is Shais and I live in Canada, im in my last year of high school and I'm seriously considering becoming a pilot because I've always had this career path in the back of my mind since I was 5. As i grew older I began to find interest in medicine, but the chances of me getting into med school is 4% due to government caps. I have considered mechanical engineering because it is a broad degree that can be applied anywhere in the world. And so my last question is:
    Is it worth to become a pilot first, or should I complete my mechanical engineering degree first then go into piloting school?

      +kevin obrien thank you you for the reply :) Mentour Pilot.. And Kevin I'm sure it'll be very easy to get a job. If you live in America I know it's really easy. Airlines are really hurting for pilots, and can expect an interview the next day after you apply. That's what heard the CFI's were saying.

    I would really love to be a pilot.. I'm currently 15 and I have done quite a bit of research about it. The one question that I have however is about the ATPL licence and university. Firstly, do you need to go to university? And secondly, how would you obtain an ATPL licence.. Do you need flying experience etc?

      Hi, I would suggest you read this book called "to be an airline pilot" by Andrew cook. It explains every step of the process to the right hand seat. I also recommend you find a couple of schools you found a check the courses they have available and there you will find requirements (uni degree varies between schools and airlines). Some schools I found: FTEJerez, CTC and CAE.
      Happy Flights!!

    Nothing would give me more joy than to fly those heavies in an airline. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like I would be able to handle the cons that come with it, even without a wife and kids. I value time with my girlfriend and friends as well as for taking care of my mom. The time I get off as an airline pilot would most probably be when my friends and family are busy. I'm doing a PPL right now, just to compromise with my dream of flying. I'm a high school science teacher, and together with a PPL and a masters in teaching, I perhaps would like to teach at a flight school. I cannot afford a flight instructor course if I want to do more than teach ground courses. The PPL course has already put a bit of a dent on my wallet. This is pretty much my situation. I'm in Bangkok, Thailand by the way. Any pointers? :)

    Serious question, are you required to have a phone? What if you choose to not own one, will they provide you with one? Because as we all know there was a time when if you had a phone it was a home land line.

      ***** hey man aren't divorces mainly caused by fa(s)? And this might sound a bit too personal but how much do they pay you there? They pay pilots about $50-60k a year here in the Philippines for long haul pi(s)

      Speaking of divorces... Wouldn't it be a good thing to discuss about relationships between pilots and stewardesses ?
      We hear all the time from the "general public" that those relationships are the cause of many divorces... haha I'm still wondering if that's true...
