Agoda agree big time. I have booked early before my visit from home. Also booked at a hotel reception desk, when the hotel could not match the price. Always a great deal and usually has book now pay later deals.

If I order through Panda the driver only receives 10 baht. Do not be too greedy to make a small saving. Remember these people are supporting themselves and sometimes families.

Apps have not changed anything I do nor how I live my life...yet. In fact I only just bought a smart phone but except for the wifi which worked right out of the box, I have not activated it, no SIM, no data plan yet. So much privacy is given up using most Apps or turning on your Android MOTO phone or any other. I get the convenience, and some Apps are very very handy, google maps, checking email while on the road and not at home on your laptop, finding things, chatting (well too much of that going on). Now lately some places require a smart phone and Apps for traveling, "mandatory" contract tracing etc. We shall see how long those are required. At the moment, while they don't explicitly state you need a smart phone, the Thai travel airport places seem to say you must download apps, take QR code photo. So what happens if one arrives at BKK without a smart phone or a working data plan?
Very useful. The Wise app looks handy for expats. But what do you do if you're just there for a few weeks, and want to avoid the 220bt. Is Contactless becoming more popular in Thailand. It would be handy if bars started accepting contactless. Hotels - I use the Agoda app, which is great. It might work like a phone chip where they can pinpoint you and know exactly where you are . It’s going to come to your country anytime soon .
I booked through Agoda the one and only time and had a nightmare situation, exactly like what Mr Kenner talked about- the room looking nothing like what was advertised. I complained to Agoda and send them the photos this place in Hong Kong was advertising compared to what we actually got. Mr. Kenner, please provide details of the steps and contact information of the service team that helped for anyone who may be in the same situation as I was in.
I've had Wise for many years just because it is almost the only way for an American to hold foreign currency. However, I'd still never made a single payment with it. Just savings. I needed to transfer about $150 to a target account is Thailand and by god, it was amazing, in the ass-backward USA it takes up to 6 days to move money between two of your own accounts (yes less "business days" than that, but is it 1950? WTF. Does the internet operate only on "business days"?)... know how long it took? 11 hours. Which later was revised to 9 hours. Awesome.
