@@GracefulCosmos his trial didn't stop at the end of prologue, the main point of the latest manga arc is that it's designed to challenge Thorfinn's newfound beliefs. Could be interpreted as both though
Once again a great example of how Vinland Saga treats flash backs. It’s never the ghost of Thors appearing and speaking from beyond the grave, it’s Thorfinn remembering something he asked his father. Same as the talk he had with Askeladd, it was basically Askeladd’s final words to him replayed and Thorfinn finally listening.
Considering that the actual Vinland Sagas both written hundreds of years ago have supernatural elements especially in the form of dreams… I’d say just calling it memories is discrediting the source material a little too much. Dreams and visions are powerful in Norse culture and in many others!
@@PatOfTheRick It definitely happens most often the way you described. The only "ghost of ______" situation I can think of is Ragnar appearing in Canute's dream.

i kind of felt the ending montage was of when these characters were setting off on their journeys, Helga running away with Thors, Leif wanting to see what's more to the west, and Askeladd maybe after burying his mother, and now it's Thorfinn's turn to take his journey of choice.
"For those fleeing from war and slavery, far beyond the horizon, you will build a peaceful land where you'll wait to welcome those people there. You must live to do that, Thorfinn, son of Thors." Beautiful.

I always wonder what Einar is thinking in the back of his head for this episode. He's met this incredible man, one who had lived a life of struggle and sin, and is now so selfless that he let himself be beat 100 times to save others. Thorfinn is like a legend among men to Einar, and Einar just saw him get his ass whooped and knocked out cold by Ylva. What must he be thinking about the Thors' lineage in that moment.

Every fucking time i watch any reaction to vinland saga i just realize once more how much i fucking love this series i really need to take some time to read the manga
Just a reminder that this show would 100% not win in polls because it is not THAT popular compared to other shows that you would put in polls. That's why some of us want you to react to Monster because that show is old and would 100% not win in polls but it is a masterpiece.
@@FrizFroz I like filmbuff even more than this channel but his channel isn't growing because his upload rate is slow and also very inconsistent. He still hasn't finished vinland saga season 2. He loved vinland saga but for some he stopped watching it. He probably is busy with other work beside youtube.
Idk if you guys noticed but they've completely changed the panel from the manga to anime! In the manga, Thorfinn did the retelling of his past to everyone after his hair was cut by Ylva. But in the anime, it was before his hair was cut. He literally still have his hair long! Just some observation. I'm not saying it's bad.
If you ever plan on reacting to a longer seinen anime I'd recommend 'Monster'. It's a 74 episode slow-burn thriller, mystery, crime, psychological cult classic. And is widely regarded as having THE greatest antagonist in all of anime. Personally, I think it's a masterpiece and you'll absolutely love it. There's a lot of characters you both will adore. The show is filled with moments to smile, cry and think about.
100% agree with what you said about the author putting so much care into the story, i feel like yukimura truly RESPECTS his characters. that's not something you see often nowadays. so many writers treat characters as expendable and will kill them off for shock value/easy emotional impact. they will try to "subvert audience expectations" even if it doesn't make the most sense for the story. but yukimura isn't afraid to tell his story in the most genuine way possible. yes there are so many gruesome, devastating, tragic scenes... but there's also so much hope. the story reminds me that no matter how bad things seem, there are genuinely kind and compassionate people out there fighting for what's right. (plus, how many stories have made this many people sob not just out of sadness, but pure JOY??) thank you for your amazing reactions and thoughtful commentary. i'm so sad it's over, but i can't wait for us to all experience season 3 together!
The question asked by thorfinns younger self to grown up thorfinn is the same question thorfinn asked to thors at the end of the first episode, Thors did not reply then just put his hand on his sons head
some of the things that stood out to me on the last episode was towards the end when einar an thorfinn are standing at the grave an einar ask if he was important an thorfinn responds with "he was a slave" with both of them just having left being slaves is pretty impactful. Also once einar leaves younger thorfinn ask him "where do the people who want to escape here go" which was something he asked in episode 1 when he learned his ancestors fled to Iceland. An thors appearing an telling him "you already know the answer" is that he has to go an create that place in Vinland for those people. Also my interpretation of the flashbacks are its showing the people who have influenced thorfinn an turned him into the man he currently is, it shows each of them younger an full of drive an ambition for their goals then it ends with thorfinn looking at us the exact same way.
Farmland had alot of comedic moments like this ep, but they cut out alot in the anime to keep it serious, which i appreciate, This season was so beautiful, and its only the beginning of Thorfinns story cant wait for season 3 adaptation
@@bigorna4875 Nope. It didnt feel out of place in this episode one bit. Too much comedy wouldnt get the serious message to the audience in the same manner.
@@smol6193 the comedic bit after Ylva's punch did feel kinda out of place in my opinion. I tried to like it - but in the end I felt it cheapened the punches Thorfinn took to see Canute.
It’s so ironic that Vinland Saga Season 2 didn’t get any awards… just like Thorfinn doesn’t have any enemies. I caught up with manga, and it’s even better!! It’s this kind of anime/manga that’s only becoming better with each episode. So much going on in the manga, it’s gonna be a masterpiece
So glad i didn't bother reading the comments on every episode calling it " FARMLAND SAGA " and dropping it like many others such amazing character development for Thorfinn seeing him struggle from depression not knowing what his purpose was now that Askeladd is dead and seeing his change in perspective on war and violence and try and talk it out before resorting to his old ways.
im so sad their wont be any more vinland on the channel for a while. Looked forward to yalls reactions each week. Hopfully we dont have to wait as long for s3
About the girl that had a crush on Ari and wished him a safe trip back, that was so Leif could tell the audience that Thors wasn't planning on taking any of them to battle and going alone.
I'm at that point where I'm watching shows because Lola and Milena react to them. You make some excellent choices of series, and you make them all better.
Thank you for sincerely engaging with one of my favorite works! I also recommend "Porco Rosso" and "Delicious in Dungeon"; both are of pretty good quality.
SO... Season 3 (if we get one, I'm trying to hold my expectations) will introduce the two BEST characters in all Vinland Saga manga, in my opinion. And, I think you might appreciate that: they're both women :) Oh, and yes... They're the ones you saw at the very end of season one
There is absolutely no way to predict anything about the continuation of the story from here, trust me! Just as the farm was something unique, there will be more genius and perfectly composed things in this wonderful narrative. If the first season was the prologue, the second season only covered the first chapter.
You know back when I was reading the manga I caught up literally here and I thought that was it, Vinland Saga ended right there, and me being a very optimistic reader just sorta went with it, so it would be like a year before I realized Vinland Saga did not end when Thorfinn reunited with his family and started reading the manga again. Just a funny little hiccup on my part lol
4:01 Do not worry!!!! hahaaha The writer doesn't sleep on the job, so far in the anime Thorfinn has only taken two steps on his journey, one down nd one up, he just arrived at the beginning, idle, wher he shouldn't have left in the first place haha. Now he has a goal, and that,in passing, was the most beautiful baton pass I've ever seen in anime.
the girl in episode three that had a crush on Ari was there so Leif could explain to her (and the audience) Thors' plan to not actually involve the kids that volunteered to come with him
The best Thorfinn is even yet to come! Thorfinn One and Thorfinn Two are great, but Thorfinn Three is probably my favorite character in the coming seasons.
Thorfinn is 22 at this point in the story or 24 at max. many people think he's 30 or older because of the beard. he left home at 6, was 17 at the end of season 1 and Canute said it had been 4 years since Askeladd incident when he met Thorfinn at the farm.
I'm so happy to see you guys' reactions to this masterpiece of series. This show hits so hard, appealing to the inherant moral compass and to the inherant, God-given value of human life. Which also, historically was what changed the brutal society of those times to the much more peaceful society we have today. Amazing story. We have a lot to thank Christianity for

cool thing about the flashbacks of thors, lief, and askl is meant to represent his 3 fathers
Just a reminder that this show would 100% not win in polls because it is not THAT popular compared to other shows that you would put in polls. That's why some of us want you to react to Monster because that show is old and would 100% not win in polls but it is a masterpiece.
It's not a masterpiece is boring,I give it a try but it was so boring the first episode was great.
@@mmor7380 It's a perfect slow burn. For some it may be boring but if you like an in depth analytical series its a masterpiece
they would love it
Monster is a masterpiece, it’s slow yeah, that’s why I prefer the manga over the anime. But it’s still a masterpiece
@@mmor7380 i got bored with the first half (paused for half a year lmao) but the second half of it was great tbh
Criminally underrated reaction channel.
Hahaha, not really. They have many videos with more than 1 million views
Filmbuff is even more underrated. The girls have been doing great, they have a good amount of subs and views for an anime/tv reaction channel.
I'm not saying it's bad.
they have many "loves of their lives", but after this anime i believe Thorfinn is THE "love of thier lives"
Monster is a show that is right up your alley
(plus, how many stories have made this many people sob not just out of sadness, but pure JOY??)
thank you for your amazing reactions and thoughtful commentary. i'm so sad it's over, but i can't wait for us to all experience season 3 together!
I remember crying so happily after seeing the scene with Thorfinn and his mother. That scene gave me emotions no other movie or tv series ever could
Hopefully we won't have to wait more than 2 years for S3.
The question asked by thorfinns younger self to grown up thorfinn is the same question thorfinn asked to thors at the end of the first episode, Thors did not reply then just put his hand on his sons head
Absolute pleasure to watch this show with you!
You girls are the best reactors of this show
some of the things that stood out to me on the last episode was towards the end when einar an thorfinn are standing at the grave an einar ask if he was important an thorfinn responds with "he was a slave" with both of them just having left being slaves is pretty impactful.
The problem of cutting the comedic moments is that when they do come, they feel out place
@@bigorna4875 Nope. It didnt feel out of place in this episode one bit. Too much comedy wouldnt get the serious message to the audience in the same manner.
I read the Manga after this episode. I thought once he stopped being a slave, the comedy really starts.
Beautiful masterpiece, looking forward to watch you girls contemplate the next arc.
49:49 Bug Eyes' real name is Thorfinn lmaoo, hence the nickname
Going to miss these reactions as much as the anime. Hopefully we'll get season 3 soon! Also love the Kendall shirt.
I am so sad that Bumblesnuff buffallobath's timestamp comments are gone...
It’s such a shame because it looks like they are all gone. Not sure what happened but hope they’re alright.
I'm at that point where I'm watching shows because Lola and Milena react to them. You make some excellent choices of series, and you make them all better.
MAN THE NEXT ARC IS PRETTY GOOD I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE NEW CHARACTERS, MANGA READERS KNOW WHO IM TALKING ABOUT
the eternal quest for Ari has ended lmao
Thank you for sincerely engaging with one of my favorite works! I also recommend "Porco Rosso" and "Delicious in Dungeon"; both are of pretty good quality.
SO... Season 3 (if we get one, I'm trying to hold my expectations) will introduce the two BEST characters in all Vinland Saga manga, in my opinion. And, I think you might appreciate that: they're both women :)
Oh, and yes... They're the ones you saw at the very end of season one
Hell yeah
Is that Thorfinn's love interest or something?
@@rickgrimes6640 Yep, one of them
Just waiting for the hunter and the prey moment 👍
@@Vera150607 That's gonna be siiiiiick, maybe highlight of season 3
I love Vinland Saga, I loved your reaction to it!
I'm looking forward season 3 too☺️
Thorfinn's such a Chad.
Vinland saga season 2 was peak for me 🔥
There is absolutely no way to predict anything about the continuation of the story from here, trust me! Just as the farm was something unique, there will be more genius and perfectly composed things in this wonderful narrative. If the first season was the prologue, the second season only covered the first chapter.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE
Now he has a goal, and that,in passing, was the most beautiful baton pass I've ever seen in anime.
the girl in episode three that had a crush on Ari was there so Leif could explain to her (and the audience) Thors' plan to not actually involve the kids that volunteered to come with him
Thank you for this comment. I was curious if there was an answer
They left out the part of Ylva was helping Thorfinn cut his hair. She shaved Thorfinn's beard when he fell asleep.
The best of thorfinn is still yet to come... chan chan chan....
The best Thorfinn is even yet to come! Thorfinn One and Thorfinn Two are great, but Thorfinn Three is probably my favorite character in the coming seasons.
Fucken Bug Eyes trying to steal thorfinn's mom lol
Thorfinn is 22 at this point in the story or 24 at max. many people think he's 30 or older because of the beard. he left home at 6, was 17 at the end of season 1 and Canute said it had been 4 years since Askeladd incident when he met Thorfinn at the farm.
Thorfinn's face changes are symbolic and hints us how he'll be in each arc. How do you think Thorfinn we'll be in season 3?
I enjoyed a lot your reactions, I'm glad that you loved so much this anime ♥
Masterpiece! 🧡 Arigathanks Makoto Yukimura.🙌
Not everything is lost, we can rebuild ourselves from our traumas and become better people!
I saw the thumbnail and thought you were reacting to GTO (Great teacher Onizuka) and I was all for it lol
I'm so happy to see you guys' reactions to this masterpiece of series. This show hits so hard, appealing to the inherant moral compass and to the inherant, God-given value of human life. Which also, historically was what changed the brutal society of those times to the much more peaceful society we have today. Amazing story. We have a lot to thank Christianity for
I've been watching you girls for a bit longer than 2 years now, and you're by far my favorite reactors. Ever since your Mob Psycho, Vinland saga and Hunter x Hunter reactions, I just know you would both really love Haikyuu! If you're looking for something wholesome to watch I hope you consider it for a future poll 😉😉
just so you know, you girls are my favourite reactors
Mother, the only person in the world who can look at Thorfinn's face and say he looks just like Thors.
59:35 I thought she was going to keep saying: "Everything. Down to the last minute details.”
Vikings Season 2, The Last Kingdom and The Winter King are all pretty good
Awesome reactions! Thank you lola & milena
Where's the guy with the timestamps
Lola " my eyes are watering " :D
16:19 "are you playing or are you training"....damn
Season 3 is going to be great too especially seeing more of Thorfinn development and growth ( but also the characters we’ll meet ) . I feel next Season is the season that ties everything together . 🩵 I hope we see it soon
Nope, there's going to be 2 more seasons at least. We have 3 more arcs in the manga after season 2.
Goodbye Season 2, and hello to upcoming Season 3 and HOPEFULLY Hild are coming too
1:24 lola ur killing me 😭 so real
banana: exists
these 2 girls: OH MY GOD BABY BOY
