There’s been a significant shift in Scotland when we look south. For years, we blamed the whole of England for our country being stripped of its resources and industries which all headed down south to the rich parts in f England, only to be replaced by alcoholism and drugs. But in the last 25 years, we now see that the people in places like the North of England, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham and many more are also losing their industries to the south and now we’ve come to understand we’re all in the same boat We blamed England as a whole for far too long but with the eruption inn24 hour media and people in a position to tell their stories, we are now on very friendly terms with most of the country now, united in our hatred of government
I'm born and raised in west midlands, in the most beautiful county of Shropshire and proud to be an Englishman. The way I see things is, I stand with the Scots, the Welsh, the Irish and the rest of England against London and Westminster. I don't accept London as my capital anymore.
To be fair you're still blaming England 😂, it won't change. Even if independence happens and Scotland goes back to the EU, any issues Scotland has they will blame England 😂. Think we just look and laugh now. I'm also English and I definitely do NOT stand with the Scots, Welsh or NIrish. I want them all to be independent so we can remove their free movement across 62% of the island they were born on. They will have 27 other member states and they keep saying how they are so European so let them enjoy that. Even though they will spend more time in Scotland due to living and working there and then need a passport to cross the border into England for up to 90/180 days. Best thing that could happen at this point.
Then why does Scotland only have one oil refinery company compared with 5 in England considering Scotland has the oil England none creating jobs & wealth in England taking it away from Scotland. They are stealing from Scotland as per usual take take take !

British is a synonym for English in the largest tabloid newspapers, until it's time to claim something. Guy wins tennis, great British sportsman.. guy loses tennis, Scotsman 😂
Of course he's a Scotsman as well as British. A Mancunian is English as well British. When Andy Murray plays in the Davis Cup and the Olympics, he represents GB and NI. Your point was that when he wins, English people call him British and when he loses, they call him a Scot. English people have little or no pre occupation with such a distinction, so I say again, nonsense.
@@OneTrueScotsman ps if Andy Murray likes to emphasise his status as a Scot and de emphasise his status as a Brit (even though he represents GB and NI), that's his choice, but that's not a distinction being made by the English. They simply don't care. As an aside and as a football supporter, I have long held the view that if we had a GB and NI team, there would have been far more success for the English, Irish, Scots and Welsh players than has been the case. However some people believe separation is better for them, despite evidence to the contrary. So be it.
@@mikeserridge4547 A British football team would just be dominated by English players. All you'd actually achieve is push up support for independence even further. A lot of Scots would be extremely angry with you for taking away their team, and instead making one British team, when occasionally one Scotsman might get picked to play. We don't want to share a team with you. Many of us don't care very much for you. Trying to force yourselves on us comes across as a little bit desperate, and pest-like. Most Scots don't see ourselves as British. We're not British. It doesn't matter to us what a piece of paper says. The union exists without our consent. We tried to leave in 2022, but the UK government took the Scottish government to court, to stop us. The UK government and media have had since 2014 to honour the promises they made to us in the referendum that they'd do if they won. They won, and immediately broke all their promises. If they truly cared about the union, they'd follow through on those fake promises. But they haven't, and won't, and so we will separate, sooner or later.
A lot of these people are clueless about their own history and the part Scotland played in the British Empire. For a start the reason Scotland became part of the UK is it went bust trying to start its own colony.
Oh and don't talk about Scotland's role in the Opium Wars and the damage that did to the Chinese. I think one of the most famous Opium barons was Scottish.
But remember what "passes" for Scottish, Welsh and Irish in the Anglo sense isn't necessarily Scottish, Welsh and Irish. You can call some of them the "Klingons" of the Anglo-American Empire but on the whole most people don't want a future of perpetual war. Some like to talk brave but in a future of robots and a.i your honour, courage and bravery literally won't mean anything. In much the same way as drones have been doing for a while now.
No, for starters, Scotland didn't "go bust" as you put it. We were however considerably worse off when the English empire interfered with the introduction of the Darian Scheme which would have seen Scotland far better off than what we ultimately ended up with. Amazing what a few bribes to people in power can do.
Spot on! When it was going good for them, Scotland were totally onboard with Imperial conquest of the world. An outsized proportion of Britain's greatest military commanders and administrators were Scots. Many or Britain's most profitable industries were Scottish. Scotland became home to much of Britain's most prestigious institutions and architecture. Profits from the colonies flowed like a golden river into Scottish towns and cities. Glasgow in particular once revelled in its role as "Second city of Empire!" But for those who now cry about being colonised, they have perversely reframed Scotland as the Ghislaine Maxwell of Empire. They were a fully willing participant in all the dirtiest of deeds, but once the game was up and things went bad, they scream and cry that they were a cynically manipulated innocent victim. England have to now face up to dark and violent patches in its history. Scotland should not be allowed to sidestep its way out of facing up to the same.
Do you live in Scotland? While I don’t personally feel like I live in a colony, as a Scot I can attest to the feeing of being dragged along by England, more often than not against our own wishes. You would also need to consider the systemic cultural genocide of the gaelic way of life in Scotland, it’s language and traditions, expressly carried out by the English. If you think such things won’t affect how a nation feels about its so-called allies, you’re either naive, or biased yourself.
@@happymaskedguy1943 I grew up in Scotland and lived in Scotland for 22 years. Been in England since 2009. I know all the historical background. No-one can escape their past. To live in it is a fools errand.
To ignore a nation’s history is a fool’s errand. And the British government has done less than nothing to address it. I wasn’t taught about Scottish history in school. I was taught about primarily English history. This isn’t the distant past we’re talking about. This is the here and now, where the last PM openly said she would ignore Scotland’s elected leader. If you are Scottish, then you’re burying your head in the sand if you honestly think that Scotland is just an extension of England. Which it seems you do.
I live in the Highlands. The Gaelic culture was destroyed manly by the English. The culture was assimulated into the industrial town and city's. The men folk wore breeks instead of the kilt. By the 18 century, there was little to no Gaelic culture left. There was a resurgence under the rule of Queen Victoria. The Wealthy Scottish land owners made tartan and the Highland dress popular again.

Why do you feel the need to justify your not anti English? No one suggested you were. Unfortunately for Scotland anti English sentiment is practically the norm. But that doesn't mean all Scots or independence supporters are. You do you 👍🏻.
Glasgow is probably the worst place you could go to do this as it's so divided by religion which goes hand in hand with politics there. An east coast city would be more of a peek into the overall feeling of the country.

Waiting to be told if you can leave isn't doing anything to actually make it happen 🤷🏻.

@thefastandthedead1769 There's a monument just outside my window to a battle fought during one of Scotland's invasions of England. It's a small hour's drive to Newcastle northbound and a ten min walk to a Cathedral. The battle happened twenty five years after your People are Sovereign law---I think they are equally pertinent to this issue and the current political UK situation, Scotland specifically. (And if you are going to weaponise history, try to read all of it not just the reassuring, unthreatening bits).
Be proud of your roots but be realistic at the same time... It's a big old World out there... A lot bigger than Scotland and the rest of the UK put together...

Proud? I don't even consider myself British. If it was purely geographical, I'd have no issue with it. I'm also European, I'm also an upright walking primate, a mammal, etc. But British is 85% English by population. Its media is overwhelmingly English. It's perceived as one and the same outside the country too. And even far too many people from England falsely believe that Scotland's part of "their" country. It's not. And England's not my country. For as long as this union continues to exist, they need to come to terms that there's four countries in the union. Not one. And England's all theirs. But that's all.
The irony is that the so called Scots are Dutch Vlaanderen volk since 1066. They're the actual colonisers. They only made a pretence of being native since the Anglo Dutch wars.
The only victims are the unionists, after 300 years of domination their minds have been damaged to the extent where they think they are too inferior to run their own country.

Westminster will always be in london well away from the eu and the council chamber in edinburgh. I will move to england if the anti uk party got there half baked independence nonsense.
I'm Scottish thanks, never British. It's just a matter of fact. Westminster offers nothing to Scottish citizenry, whether on Europe, going to war, actual f*****g genocide, the climate challenge, nukes, nuclear power stations. It's just all so self-evidently obvious. I look at Starmer, and just sigh - wearily. He represents a change of logo. Not of government. Besides which, Scotland doesn't impact Westminster elections anyway. Starmer is winning this election. HE DOESN'T NEED Scottish votes. So I'll keep on voting for Scottish parties, not ermine chasing careerists - until the day comes, and my kids can enjoy actual democracy in the world at large...
Let's take each of your points in turn. 1. Europe. If the EU and the Remain campaign had been open and honest about the EU's federal and military intentions, which are currently in their endgame, the Leave majority would have been massive and there would have been Leave majorities in Scotland and Northern Ireland too, with the result that the whole of the last eight years of political wrangling would have been avoided. The Remain campaign knew that to be honest about the imminent political unification of 28 member states into one big country had to be swept under the carpet in order to stand any chance of winning the referendum. 2. Going to war. The only time we have gone to war illegally since 1945 was in 2003. Blair should have stood trial for lying to Parliament (misfeasance in public office), the war crime of aggression and enforced regime change, also illegal under international law. 3. Actual f*****g genocide! There is no genocide. Look it up in the dictionary. But even if there was it is not us who is doing it. 4. The climate challenge. Whatever we do here in the UK, even going totally carbon-zero, will only reduce global carbon emissions by a maximum of 1.2%. The climate would be better off if nobody bought any Chinese products ever again. They are all made in factories powered by coal-fired power stations, even the electric car batteries that people pat themselves on the back about. 5. Nukes. Unfortunately we need them, in the hope that we never have to use them. 6. Nuclear power stations. Where should our power come from? 7. Labour are the Tories on speed. There will be more migrants and the Islamification of the UK will accelerate. Starmer is in thrall to the Muslim block vote. He is also Blair's hand-puppet, and Balir is the hand-puppet of the EU and the WEF. 8. Scotland doesn't impact Westminster elections? A complete fallacy. If the SNP's supporters hadn't wiped out Labour in Scotland in 2015, it is quite likely that Cameron wouldn't have got his overall majority and we wouldn't have had the In/Out referendum. So congratulations, SNP, you played a blinder! 9. You may also wish to recall that your fellow countryman, Gordon Brown, sold off a large chunk of Britain's gold reserves to the lowest bidder and single-handedly wrecked the UK pensions industry. He then signed the Lisbon Treaty and committed the entire UK to becoming a province of the imminent federal European state, which we only escaped by the skin of our teeth (see above). He then racked up a National Debt of £2 trillion, which he called "Quantitative Easing", whilst proclaiming himself "Saviour of the World".
You're a delulu Hollander. Everything you think that you know about Scottish history is a lie. You're Vlaanderen volk. Live in a hoos, go to Kirk on Sunday. Fly the Vlaanderen lion flag since 1066 when William the Bastards Dutch mercenary contingent exterminated all the Scots, all the Gaels.
@@SJG-nr8uj That's a great response (all your own work I hope) but I disagree with number 8 but with a smile. Here's my thinking....Technically whether the votes in Scotland went to the SNP or Labour made little difference to Cameron gaining that unlikely majority. I'd say Nick Clegg's catastrophic spell in "government" deserves the credit. He lost 49 seats, 27 to the Tories who ended up 24 better off on 330. I can't leave without mentioning that Clegg did very well for himself since 2017 when he suffered another low point in his career, it seems this cloud had a gold lining. He "remarkably" managed to find employment in California, now lives in Atherton where the zoning laws only allow one house per acre, (median house price $7,950,000! cheers
Do find the scottish victim mentality that some have interesting. Especially when they try and suggest they had a similair situation to Ireland. Little do they realise that they are the colonisers too.
Nonsense. Scots have never had any influence in what Britain does. Westminster's 85% English. 92% non-Scottish. In 1713 every single Scottish MP in Westminster voted to dissolve the union. Remind me how that went? Why would our views on the empire have made any difference when we couldn't even free ourselves?
@ you say nonsense but don’t try and counter my point, you talk about democratic representation which is ofcourse going to favour larger populations ? It’s not like if Scotland doubled in population the seats would not be adjusted.
I am English and not proud to be British at all. Links with a northern neighbour that votes in the nationalist parties every election is embarrassing and until Scotland is gone I will never say I am proud to be British..
Honestly I don't think they realise how many of us English support and wish them well with independence. They need to go cause they just embarrass themselves.

I don’t know if Scottish people as a whole have quite grasped the concept that they are British whether they like it or not. British simply refers to being from the island of Great Britain, so regardless of what you think of the UK they are still British because anyone from the island is British. You’re allowed to differentiate from the English if you want simply by saying you’re Scottish, you don’t have to then declare that somehow you’re not from the island that happens to connect to the other place you don’t want to identify with.
I don't know if you've managed to grasp the concept, whether you like it or not. That we're not British. We're Scottish. Just because we've been occupied, and we're controlled by a parliament that's 92% non-Scottish, that doesn't make us British, they can try and force that shite on us, but we're not swallowing it. When the term 'Britain' is used simply as a matter of geography, I might be persuaded otherwise. Identity is personal. Citizenship is a legal question. I am a UK citizen. But my identity is Scottish. I don't give a rats arse about the rest of the union, the flag, the government, the team at the Olympics, or the Eurovision. You seem to be desperate to recruit people who would only taint your team by their lack of love and loyalty to it. You gain nothing by screaming into the wind and claiming we're British, when all the while, people like me vote every election to dissolve the union. That's how "British" I am 😂
@ My point is simply to say that Scottish people seem to recoil at the very term British despite the fact that even if the union was dissolved then you will still be British whether you embrace the term or despise it, it’s a bit like when people say the UK left the European Union we ceased to be European or no longer identify as European, no we didn’t and that’s a very stupid way of looking at it.

England on the whole speak English,Scotland on the whole speak English, that is a fact,Scots and English are largely on the whole descended from the same genetic stock
Isn't British a description of those from the British Isles, i can't see the problem, or understand all the hatred, .. & is the hatred even real, or has it all been stirred up & based on BS, ..? Didn't 'Scotland' used to be inhabited by northern British tribes, described as the Picts by the Romans, doesn't Scoti mean the Irish?
No, Britain is what the Romans called the land they seized. Scotland never fell to Rome. But the larger issue, is how the term "British" is used today. It's not just used to describe geographical things. And it's the other things that us Scots want no association with, and see very little of ourselves in.
Then why does uk government keeping holding on to us, they always have secrets to hide away from Scottish public, check out the Mc crone report. And talking about oil they kept saying oil wouldn’t last 20 yrs but yeah still mass amounts laying of Scottish coast. Low quality oil that thatcher’s government used to build up the financial hub that is Canary Wharf and paid for Falklands war.
It's not our oil, those fields were long ago sold to foreigners, they don't seem to mind the quality and have been fine using it for a century. It's not a rocky piece of land though, you obviously know nothing about the place.
@scottneil1187 You know nothing about Scotland if you think you're better off on your own. Leaving the EU was bad enough, leaving the UK would destroy the Scottish economy. It took Ireland 50 years to recover after declaring independence, and they still had free trade with the UK.
Whether the yoons like to hear it or not the vast majority of people in my generation (20-30yo) are very much Scottish, absolutely not British. Nothing against those who feel British personally but independence in the next 100 years maximum is inevitable
We went bankrupt because the English government forced the East India company to bail on an agreement made between them and Scotland, without notice. However, the UK is bankrupt right now. Its debt exceeds its GDP. But there are systems around today to protect countries that didn't exist back then.
The irony of the bloke in the Blue hat going on about English colonialism. You would think as a proud Scot he would have some knowledge of his history and the central role Scots played in the Empire. Many Scots made their fortune thanks to the British Empire, I wonder if he thinks their decendents should pay reparations?
Scotland didn't have a government during the empire. You'd have to look south for that. Scotland voted to leave the union in 1713, every single Scottish MP voted us out. But that was overruled by the 85% English parliament. Also, forget history, today we have a lot of people in England, who love to boast about the empire, and claim they are proud of what it accomplished. You don't see that in Scotland.
As person of Africa heritage I always find it hilariously ironic when Irish, Scottish and Wales people claim they have been oppressed, when most of the worst oppressors of the British Empire were Irish, Welsh And Scottish. It is not coincidence that so many Jamaicans have Scottish and Irish surnames. Were the Welsh being oppressed when they were in Africa forcing Africans off prime land and stealing land and resources for themselves that white in Africa still benefit from today. You can’t claim to be oppressed when Ireland, Wales and Scotland benefited from such things as slavery and colonialism.
You need to brush up on your history. The lust to build an empire was entirely from London. Look at all the countries that Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland invaded before the union, and after the union. See if one of those countries stands out. Westminster's 85% English. Nothing happens without that portion backing it.
@ read your own history. No one likes seeing history where they are villains. Celtic peoples were some of the worst colonists in British empire. Again you haven’t explained why Jamaicans all have Scottish names if the Scottish were so wonderful during colonial times? I don’t call slavery an honourable thing and you lie and pretend it was just English people in the British empire.
Wasn't it the scottish that united the crowns, which laid the ground work for the britan.🤔 That said while i am english, i'm also part scottish through my nan on my mum side, So I do love scottland❤,
I am a Scot and I do not want the union broken up,we can't possibly go it alone,we basically live on handouts from Westminster, plus I do not like the idea of rejoining the hated EU.🤔
We don't get any handouts. Government statistics going back to 1900 show that every year Scotland has contributed more to the Treasury than it receives. In the 20 years from 1999 to 2018 Scotland contributed (not counting oil revenues) £895,240,000,000 and received back (Barnett Formula) £511,499,799,000 leaving £383,740,201,000 at Westminster. The Westminster Government commissioned McCrone Report said that an independent Scotland would be “embarrassingly wealthy” and its currency could be the strongest in Europe. This proved that Scotland was not subsidised, and the Government tried to hide it from the Scottish people by slapping a closure order on it. The former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Denis Healey, said in an interview that Westminster was terrified at the prospect of Scottish independence because they know that without Scotland's wealth, they will struggle to balance the books. He also said that Scotland "pays its fair share" and that "these myths are simply perpetuated by those that oppose independence”. The former Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, let it slip in an interview that Scotland's financial assets are in excess of a £1 Trillion. “Scotland receives no net subsidy from the UK” Centre for Economic and Business Research “Scotland’s GDP per head is bigger than that of France” Financial Times. “ An independent Scotland would start with healthier state finances than the rest of the UK” Financial Times “Scotland’s Gross National Income is 13th highest in the world.” Centre for Public Policy Research “Scotland is one of the world’s top exporters” Financial Times.
As an English person WE aren't stopping them. Their own UK government which is Scotland's government won't let them go. Personally I couldn't care less about Scotland, nice country but that's about it.
Do Scottish people think the English like the Government? Even the people who vote for them are more likely to do it because they think the other lot might be worse rather than because they feel represented or understood by them! It's the same anywhere outside the M25, or even in working class communities in London, as it is in Scotland. I'm English for the purposes of what football team I want to win, but British for the purposes of true national identity, and it saddens me when I hear people wanting to break up what I consider my country.
The problem is, you're looking at it as all one country. Yes, large parts of England is screwed over by its own country's government. But so are three entirely different countries, by the government that England elects. I say that because almost 90% of those in Westminster, were elected in an English constituency, and by those who live there. Scotland is not Yorkshire. Scotland is Scotland, a whole other country. England isn't my country. It's yours. I know you mean well, but it's so fraking frustrating when you lump the whole of the UK up into one country. We're four countries. And you're attacking my country's existence. Scottish independence is about breaking up a union, not a country.
That is correct but predominantly lowland Scotland is predominantly Anglo Saxon. The whole idea that Scots are some higher being and everything else is inferior I find extremely cringeworthy, that is from a man born and raised in Dundee.
It's all still England. Try being an entirely different country. If it was, say, Glasgow affecting the Highlands, with how the government was run, that would be one thing, but it would all be Scottish. That would be not ideal, but acceptable. But not when it's an entire different country crapping on us.
I’m embarrassed by the stupidity of the people in this video and on comments. Britain is an island. Scotland could get independence from the UK. It would still be. British. End of.
No, not end of. Like most Scots, I only identify as Scottish. British means nothing to me. When "Britain" is used as nothing more than a geographical term, then I'll reconsider.
what you identify as and what you consider is irrelevant. Yours is the sort of idiotic take that I am talking about. You are British. It’s a geographical fact. Stop embarrassing yourself.
The only thing is though Scotland because Scotland retained in the active union it’s law it’s separate institutions and then 97 gained its Parliament. If you look at Wales that is actually a colony nothing since the English invaded anywhere in Wales is still the same well got rid of even though it was more fair than English. The Welsh Parliament never existed until 1997 let alone Welsh institutions.
You haven't lived next door to yourselves for the last the centuries, had your language banned and your culture banned and your media syphened. So don't expect me to worry about you now.
I wonder if the gentleman in the blue hat knows how Scotland became part of a union with England, Northern Ireland and Wales? He does sound as though there might be a wee chip on the shoulder😊
irish people had to deal in the distant past with continuous low-level negativity from the english (coming from the elite) - and it was a real part of colonialism - but once we got independence (a small country that found it could do perfectly well) - we found over time that it had little effect on us (in the sense that we just didn't care anymore what the english thought - in negative terms - or pretended to think - just to serve out put-downs - since they had little or no power over us anymore) and that settled attitudes in england so that feelings of simple normal respect and affection grew on both sides - it comes from being able to do what you want without being told what to do...'britishness' is mostly a political construction with roots in empire not an organic feeling for a country
There’s been a significant shift in Scotland when we look south.
For years, we blamed the whole of England for our country being stripped of its resources and industries which all headed down south to the rich parts in f England, only to be replaced by alcoholism and drugs.
But in the last 25 years, we now see that the people in places like the North of England, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham and many more are also losing their industries to the south and now we’ve come to understand we’re all in the same boat
We blamed England as a whole for far too long but with the eruption inn24 hour media and people in a position to tell their stories, we are now on very friendly terms with most of the country now, united in our hatred of government
The industry hasn't gone down south, the industry has gone abroad,, the south was never very industrialised so less of a impact,,
Then why does Scotland only have one oil refinery company compared with 5 in England considering Scotland has the oil England none creating jobs & wealth in England taking it away from Scotland. They are stealing from Scotland as per usual take take take !

British is a synonym for English in the largest tabloid newspapers, until it's time to claim something. Guy wins tennis, great British sportsman.. guy loses tennis, Scotsman 😂
Nonsense.
So be it.
If its bad England
Let them leave i say

@@OneTrueScotsman you just elected 48 unionist MPs out of 57. So no you don't. You do personally but your compatriots on the whole do not.
Talking about clueless you exemplify it obviously knowing nothing about how the union came to be, go and study before commenting.
No, for starters, Scotland didn't "go bust" as you put it. We were however considerably worse off when the English empire interfered with the introduction of the Darian Scheme which would have seen Scotland far better off than what we ultimately ended up with. Amazing what a few bribes to people in power can do.
@@JCL-n7y Google the "Darien scheme" my friend. Of course that wasn't the only reason.

Aye that guy wae the blue beanie hat, Talking Pure PISH. Scotland FRREE Fae the TOXIC SNP ❗🏴✝️🙏🏻👍🏻..
Glasgow in particular once revelled in its role as "Second city of Empire!"
But for those who now cry about being colonised, they have perversely reframed Scotland as the Ghislaine Maxwell of Empire.
@CountScarlioni Well said mate, from a scotsman.

You’re allowed to differentiate from the English if you want simply by saying you’re Scottish, you don’t have to then declare that somehow you’re not from the island that happens to connect to the other place you don’t want to identify with.

U should ask that in Edinburgh ul get a clearer answer, the 1s sayin there brittish will be rangers fans lol
edinburgh is far less scottish than the rest of the country according to the last census.
It's not the English the Scots need to worry about , we all have a much bigger common enemy , and we need to become an island united .
Eh?
@@ce5894Typical, eyes 👀 wide shut🙄.
You haven't lived next door to yourselves for the last the centuries, had your language banned and your culture banned and your media syphened.
So don't expect me to worry about you now.
Didn’t understand a word.
This is the British isles by the way.
It's also the northern hemisphere. Do you identify as a Northern Hemispherian?
@ yes of course, also English British.
I wonder if the gentleman in the blue hat knows how Scotland became part of a union with England, Northern Ireland and Wales?
He does sound as though there might be a wee chip on the shoulder😊
Remember folks diversity is our strength...
😂
Victim doesn't suit anybody....seems to be the fashion these days
irish people had to deal in the distant past with continuous low-level negativity from the english (coming from the elite) - and it was a real part of colonialism - but once we got independence (a small country that found it could do perfectly well) - we found over time that it had little effect on us (in the sense that we just didn't care anymore what the english thought - in negative terms - or pretended to think - just to serve out put-downs - since they had little or no power over us anymore) and that settled attitudes in england so that feelings of simple normal respect and affection grew on both sides - it comes from being able to do what you want without being told what to do...'britishness' is mostly a political construction with roots in empire not an organic feeling for a country
Well let's be honest we both need each other we need Scotland for there resources and they need London to sell it worldwide.
British and proud.
