What I love and what separates Meateater and especially Duck Camp Dinners, from other very good productions is the portrayal of the soul of the hunter and the soul of the food.
I'm not even a duck hunter. I've never done it in my life but this is the best series Meat Eater has put out. It is as good as their Netflix series. I love it. These guys should start a series going around the country chasing different game. Their personalities are addicting to watch.
I used to live by abandoned railroad tracks and my buddies and I would use a red flyer wagon to collect metal and coal from the side of the track. We used a shop vac on reverse and a tractor wheel as a forge, duct taped the shop vac hose to a muffler and put tin can lid with holes punch in it in the center hole of the wheel. Glad there are people out there who had the same ideas as a kid!
I have never craved food on a UA-cam video more than I craved the duck camp dinners meals. The first episode. Land meets bayou I have never forgotten them. It would be a life accomplishment for me to try some of those dishes
Meateater waterfowl is the best 👌 I can't wait to see all the first light waterfowl gear!!! Cause I'm guessing it will come with more waterfowl content lol.
Being from Louisiana, when I first saw the title of this video I laughed out loud. I knew it was remembering Chris Farleys bit from SNL, in a van down by the river. Awesome video.
Man that shot of y’all backing into the camp. With the boat parked there under the shed, I’m immediately brought back to my youth growing up on the Mississippi Bayou! I know the smell of the salt in the air, and the sound of the birds. I am not a huge waterfowl hunter by any means but the camaraderie of hunting camp of any sort is the beauty of it! Sharing the excitement of the chase, and bounty of the kill with buddies that you would call your brothers on any given day! I love this series! Thank you for your hard work and for giving us an insight of your life!
Having never been "mad at the birds", I wasn't sure I would enjoy this series, au contraire! This series has me thinking about a trip to Louisiana to get me some of that action and the food. Excellent work guys.
I stumbled upon this series the other day and I already binged all of the episodes. I have always loved time in camps no matter what you're after. I also love to cook so this series has me captured. My Aunt is from Houma and grew up on Bayou Black so it was really interesting to get to see what it is like where she grew up. Keep up the great work guys, I am a fan for life!!
Hands down, best series on UA-cam. As soon as I heard "venice" on the last episode my ears perked up. I just hope we get to see some offshore action. That would button this up nicely.
Well boy you shoot straight this time also. I love this new way you are making the show with new friends and new hunting areas. Keep it up and wish you all the best of luck with your next hunt!
Love these videos. I have a group of friends and we do the same type of thing Ice fishing. Same idea different sport. Different State (Maine) and different food culture, but same intent, same feel, same love. Thanks Chef for the content. I cant wait to walk on water after watching these!
Anytime man. Just throw up that bat signal. We will catch fish and have a grand old time! The groups and camps are different. But they are all the same!
Another amazing episode. Y'all really are killing it with these. Can't wait for the season to start. I liked what Jean-Paul said at the beginning, calling it a meat haul. Every trip I go on I think about bringing the meat home and think about what it must have been like to be a long hunter.
Great episode as usual from this group. I love to duck hunt, but watching these boys do it is awesome. Really the best of any hunting series I have ever seen.
Hey James, Stephen Bateman owner/knife maker, Down The River Forge. www.downtheriverforge.com Instagram: @downtheriverforge Thanks for watching! Stephen
It would be one of the greatest thing's for me is to go back home down in deep down Louisiana and get back in to hunting and fishing down there because there is no other place in the world to get and eat some of the best food in this world and I really miss be in my home state to be able to go out and get the food that I love to eat ......
What I love and what separates Meateater and especially Duck Camp Dinners, from other very good productions is the portrayal of the soul of the hunter and the soul of the food.
All about the soul!
heck yeah Chaz. Appreciate you tuning in!
Lol good one! These couyons have no soul. They're murderers of gods precious creations
I get excited every time I see a duck camp dinners pop up. Combining my love for waterfowl, food, and camp camaraderie.
Me too! thanks for watching!
This one and duck lore keeps me goin
Jean Paul is killing it. These could be 2 hour episodes and I still would want more
I'm not even a duck hunter. I've never done it in my life but this is the best series Meat Eater has put out. It is as good as their Netflix series. I love it. These guys should start a series going around the country chasing different game. Their personalities are addicting to watch.
Don’t threaten me with a good time
Thank you Richard!
I second this. I am addicted to this series. It shows the culture, comradery, and tradition of the sport.
Props to the knife maker for adding the jimping! It’s a huge help on bird cleaning knife!
Nobody does it better then Meat Eater. 🍖 and they showcase it with actually cooking the meat.
My favorite place to blast and cast duck hunt the morning and tuna fish the afternoon ain't nothing mo fun.
Enjoyed seeing Blake talking about his grandparents and the heritage that’s beautiful.
I love the insight into the Cajun culture around respect for their environment as much as anything. They're the best group of folks I've ever met.
Simply awesome, awesome, awesome, this series is by far the best thing I’ve ever watched on the tube!
Any food cooked in a hunting or fishing camp always seems to taste better.
no doubt about that!
Best meat eater show
Chef Jean-Paul Bourgeois is the man. The other chefs on MeatEater are just tourists. Love watching this guy and hearing his stories.
I appreciate that Josh but my colleagues have some skills!
I love the reference.
DOWN BY THE RIVER!
yesssss! every now and then someone gets the joke
This series has it all. Really loved having a second season. Cooking + ducks + a group of goofy Cajuns. Pretty tough to beat.

Best of luck to you! It’s an amazing place
It would be one of the greatest thing's for me is to go back home down in deep down Louisiana and get back in to hunting and fishing down there because there is no other place in the world to get and eat some of the best food in this world and I really miss be in my home state to be able to go out and get the food that I love to eat ......
No place like home !
"bluebird skies" what a phrase, i love it
I love the fact that you were in his home, and he made you a knife ...
Bateman is a keeper for sure!
Still shouting to the meat eater rooftops to run a giveaway to go cut up with this gang! It would be so much fun!
I like it!
Let’s do it!
These ain just Louisiana boys these are South Louisiana boys Cajuns geaux tigers💪🏼
Amen to that bud!
You'll be living in a camp down by the river!!!!!
lollll hahahah
I’ve got a plastic pirouge of sorts, a Native watercraft FX15. It’s the handiest craft I’ve owned for public land hunting in a long time.
no doubt!
Great hunt. Duck bombs everywhere! The selection of birds is soo much better down there than the ring necks and teal we get in bayou black
Outstanding
Fantastic job on this video!
Split reed does a great job with this series.
