    Weird. I live on the east side of Dallas on i-30 and the DMV in my town is walk in. You can walk in anytime so I don't understand cuz you would have been closer to go to where I'm from then all the way down to Temple. I don't understand why that wouldn't have popped up unless because we're walk in. They don't have scheduling on the website or anything like that. Not all DMVs in Texas are scheduled only. There are still some out there that will do. Walk-ins good piece of advice as far as the putting the restriction on, but if you're just going to pivot your career, why put the restriction on it and then have to go through the hassle of dealing with all of the you know removal and all that when you can just take an hour, spend a little bit of money and go get your medical card renewed so you don't lose it because you could personally renew your medical card instead of having a company. Do it if you choose to keep your CDL but not drive for a company so that if I'm not driving truck but I want to keep my CDL that is what I personally do. I just go and personally have my medical card renewed and pay to have it done

    Great video, I retired from truck driving after 40 years of driving over the road , When I retired 5 years ago, I thought about keeping my CDL, Because Having a CDL for years was a huge asset, you could move to any state and go to work within a couple days no matter what the economy was like and still make a good living for your family. I new many retirees in the past that would work part time in retirement driving local or short runs for extra income . When my license renewel came up ,I really did not want to give up my CDL but with all the BS going on in the industry , I decided I didnt need the money that bad , the industry was becoming so over regulated and cumbersome it wasnt worth the headache any more. I am so glad to be out of the industry and now hear stories like yours, its unfortunate a great industry was destroyed by our own government when it worked so well for 100 years with little regulation,

    When I took off from driving for a while I just went to the dmv and filled out a new self certification form and just checked off exempt from needing a medical card. I wasn't sure if I was going to come back to driving but wanted to hang on to my cdl in case. This is in Georgia though. Rules may vary from state to state.

      I'm sorta confused about this subject, the company I work for pay for the DOT physical and drug test once hired, it doesn't matter if your card is active or expired the employee DOT physical starts with the company hiring process date.

    • @marka.2715
      @marka.2715 7 місяців тому

      @enochrry6024 the dot medical card starts on the date you get the card from the doctor, not when you start at the company. If you let that medical card lapse then the dmv will suspend your cdl license until you get a new medical card and take it to the dmv and have your cdl re-instated. Save yourself a headache and don't let it lapse. And don't rely on your company to tell you when it expires. Georgia sends out a notice 90 days in advance when your medical card is about to expire. No excuse for letting it lapse.
      What's so confusing?

  • @matusala8322
    @matusala8322 8 місяців тому

    Technically when you sick and go to doctor you suppose get new DOT physical card every time. The only way you can avoid this is by not disclosing your occupation to doctor or DOT employees.

    If it's a "couple of bones" in your foot, without other injury, that took four months(!) to heal - please examine your diet. Maybe you weren't getting enough protein, or have an unidentified food intolerance causing inflammation. Seriously, I read a study that showed even 10 gm extra of protein per day greatly improved bone healing. This was middle aged and older people. Im not being ugly, you look like you're aporoaching middle aged.

      I’m very strict with my diet and don’t have any problems there. I found out that having broken bones in your foot can take anywhere from six months to a year to actually heal. I am getting up there though. 😎😎
