"Time" is a song by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is included as the fourth track on The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and was released as a single in the United States. Bassist Roger Waters wrote the lyrics and the music is credited to all four band members. Keyboardist Richard Wright shares lead vocals (his last until "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell) alongside guitarist David Gilmour.
The lyrics deal with the passage of time - time can slip by, but many people do not realise it until it is too late. Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. He has described this realisation taking place at ages 28 and 29 in various interviews. It is noted for its long introductory passage of clocks chiming and alarms ringing, recorded as a quadrophonic test by Alan Parsons, not specifically for the album.

Let's look at the totality of this masterpiece. The long intro makes us think of time... the vocals, back up vocals and the meaning and the impact of the lyrics. Now add an incredible groove with an iconic solo in the middle of it all. Best song ever.

There's formal dress( tux) then everything else my dad always said. I apply the same logic to Floyd. There's rock , then there's Floyd.
The heartbeat in background increases as the tempo increases

I went to one of their first performances of this at Earls Court in West London in 1973 and it cost £1 or $ 1.34 ..lol
Talking of TIME where has the last 46 years gone since then. It's like I have waking up from a long coma and now I'm 65......which is incomprehensible to me but a fact..

People says this song is made of two parts
The first part is when the lyrics talk about when you are young
The second part of s when you are adult and start feeling that time is different disappearances faster every day
I my self think this song has three parts
The first is a n the intro where we can hear a heart beat
But if we pay attention there are two beats one is from a live person maybe a mother
But in the hand drums we can hear the best of an unborn baby
That is just me

I’m 65. This song and the original studio recording of Fleetwood Mac/Peter Green’s Albatross are my two favorite songs of all time. Priceless.
