Yeah, defo a fan of these WD reviews, though there isn't always AoS content worth the price tag, so caution with subscriptions. I've just cancelled mine for that reason
The funny thing is, I was going to start a Slaves to Darkness army for new year, then they nerfed the Marks and hampered my kitbash ideas. I happened to pick up the white dwarf for multiplayer rules but this Army of renown really grabbed me and quickly became my new project
Hands down some of the worst rules they couldve possibly written but its fun that theyre at least using these to cast little spotlights on specific armies or forced throughout the mortal realms
cool lore, but absolutely atrocious rules. no cavalry or teratics, so good luck scoring battle tactics. the petrifex are the greatest boneshapers of the ossiarchs... but they cant take boneshapers. they get harvesters, but not the mortek guard that half their special rules exist to support. they only get one of the two morghast units, and it's the one with a special rule that relies on relentless discipline, which petrifex don't get. they only get one of the obr manifestations. their only enhancement & artefact require the hero to be in melee - the enhancement requires them to be killing things even - and the only heroes they can put them on are ossifectors and soulmasons, who never want to be in combat and wont be killing anything there. the faction traits are worse in general and worse for the specific units included than relentless discipline. their special character has amazing concept & lore... none of which is reflected in its rules, which is just a 300 point harvester that trades all of its special rules for a single cast and a self buff that's unlikely to happen much. Also, they forgot to list what units the special character can take in their regiment. At least the unlimited spell is good? None of this really matters as these rules are going straight to legends. And the lore at least is really cool. but holy cow are these rules terrible. Actively unfun. whoever wrote them must have been permanently scarred by the Petrifex back in 2e. If I find a cities player to play out this Lethis campaign with, I hope they'd be willing to let me use the regular OBR rules instead.
Thanks for covering this! Note that if you reinforce stalkers or immortis guard, the endless onslaught rule is near-guaranteed.
Dude this is great! Keep em coming! I love learning about these weird internal factions within each army. I can't wait til we get an Idoneth one

An undead godbeast would be so fucking awesome

Do they normally make these rules accessible in the app?
