Isnt that crazy. All these years they never changed it. One of the upper bolts does not have threads tapped into the block. I guess they are all like that.
@@drainpluggarage yeah I honestly thought that it was different I didn't know just an adapter ring on the torque converter and the different flexplate made it all work

How are you doing the vacuume tube for the tranny as well as the cable setup ? If you have that. I’m 17 doing my first ls swap on my 76 stepside and wanna reuse the t350 trans and torque converter
I havent got that far yet. Your th350 and torque converter should be fine. My intake has many vac ports and i probably wont use the kick down cable. Ive never really used those.
Thanks ! Yeah I am just gonna run a vacume line to a stock vacuum port on the 5.3 I’m doing and I found a kickdown cable bracket to go on the throttle body. Thanks for the info subscribed 👍 can’t wait to see the build

I have a 5-3 did I made it a th350 transmission too but my wiring harness has connectors for the l-series Transmissions what do I do with those and do I need to have the ECM programmed or something for the th350 transmission
So question. For the TH350 how will the ECU know what speed it's currently going? Or is that irrelevant? Because I'm getting ready to do the final steps before I can finally start it and I've been curious about the TH350 with my 5.3.
Awesome!...great to see the little guys getting their hands dirty!...brings back alot of memories!...
Awesome helpers you have there. They will learn and remember this time with Daddy.
Thanks 👍
Kids are going to remember this for the rest of their lives.

I really like that color scheme.
Thanks. I sent big kid into autozone for engine paint and thats what he came out with.
Awesome they gotta put in the work to be what u want💯🙏
Great video kids helping
Very cool! I’m about to do the same swap into my 64 Tempest with my 2 boys.
They were excited today when we went to pick up the th350
That's great, have fun👍
Yankees are silly but I think having the kids involved makes you a Boss!
Awesome and great info for my next project
Alright one step closer, way to go guys
I'm glad your boys showed me that the housing pattern is the same on an LS engine as a early Chevy

Going wt this same set up for my 79 caprice thanks for the great video 📹
Is the flex plate required when using the 350 trans?

The kid's commentary is hilarious 😆
He never stops😂
Pretty Cool stuff man, I'm glad I found your channel and subbed it up.
Thanks alot!👍Just trying to teach the boys a thing or 2 restoring my grandpas old chevy. We have a lot planned for this summer

def dig the gold tones.. which spray did you use.. good job
I sent the big kid into autzone and he came out with gold😂 i cant remember the brand. Its just off the shelf engine rated aerosol can from autozone.
I did the same swap i killed that th350 now th400 its the best 👌🏾
Did you use a 5.3 starter or have any starter issues?
5.3 starter worked
never changed the bolt pattern all these years
Mopar guy here but at my custom speed shop we do ALOT of GM blocks. Just did a 5.3 powerglide in a 79 z28. It's a nasty girl now
Also. I have a stroker vortec. Not sure what flexplate to get. Gonna use the Turbo350 i have.
I think all you need is the ls swap flex plate and the bushing. Might want tondouble check. This is the only one I have done. It's an 04 block 5.3

I couldn’t tell from the video but does your 5.3 have the long or short crankshaft? And how is the trunk going and shifting?
You have no dial pin on the passenger side of block, you need those..........
Without both dial pins the converter will wear the pump bushing one sided and you lose pump pressure. (Don't ask me how I know).
Did you use a th350 torque converter also?
Yes

Can you run this transmission with fuel injection? Or has to be A carb?
What did you use exactly???? Certain converter?? Certain flex plate???
