Thank you for your videos and answering questions. A few questions here. Can you do a video on longdraw on a treadle wheel? Are there any technical aspects to it?
Will spinning from the fold give less yardage than other fiber preps since it’s folded in half?
Do I need to synchronize my treadling with my drafting?
When I’m dizzing off fiber from combs, do I need to leave the shorter fibers separate from the longer ones?
Would love any videos on wheel mechanics.❤

I haven’t found a lot of videos on how to transfer singles from a spindle to a wheel bobbin for plying. I don’t have a plying spindle and I would prefer to have a normal size hank of yarn rather than a bunch of minis. I’ve seen people transfer them to weaving bobbins but that still leaves me with the same problem and moving them to toilet rolls means I can’t tension it when plying so it jumps around like a fish. I find I get a lot of breaks that way. I’m new to spinning so maybe you have a video that covers this but google isn’t bringing it up? Thanks for the great tutorials

Thank you for all of these lovely videos!
I am still not enjoying plying nearly as much as spinning-which methods do you use for plying? I've been winding off my singles onto bobbins to put on the akerkate, and tried a plying ball (poorly) for the first time recently. There's relatively little demonstration of plying from or on a spindle versus wheel plying.
My other question is: do you check with control cards or plyback samples when spinning a significant amount? If so, how often? I check super frequently for the first .5 to 1 oz of a spin until I develop some muscle memory. Technical spinning is a real challenge!
Optional 3rd question just in case you need more: What was your first time procesing fleece from raw like? Do you have any favorite breeds?

Hi Sara! I have been binge watching all your videos and am learning so much, particularly about support spindling. My question is how you ply when using a support spindle? I would plan on doing the actual plying on my Lendrum DT but I'm curious how to get the yarn off the support spindle? Right now I'm wanting to create a two ply from the singles on one support spindle. I've done center ply balls before but how do you get it from the spindle to the cake/

Hi Sara, many thanks for your great videos and excellent teaching content. Can you elaborate on the “knots” you refer to in rolags? Do you mean like a clump of fiber or nepp? I see them in my rolags too but I love to spin from rolags. I pick them out and often that does mean a new join. When you diz fiber, do you use a hand carder to hold the fiber? I can’t seem to diz combed top with clamped hand carder. One tug and I need to move the fiber. Also, could you comment on the size diameter of the diz you use for your “pencil” roving? Thanks very much!! I plan rewatch this video as it is that good ❤.

For the viewer who was asking for a book about spinning terms. ..Stitches and Starlight did this video in 2022 Vlogmas, and I learned all the spinning terms that had totally confused me from this it: ua-cam.com/video/UV-fPyEn-I4/v-deo.htmlsi=AbMm_rC81yZ0Y4Tw
I was a brand new spinner, and Tazhi defined everything I was clueless about.
I very much enjoyed the whole Q and A, but particularly the section about twist and ply twist. I often have pigtails with my spindle spins. I'd love to see a close up of the twist on your spindle singles.
I’m interested in more info applying to wheel spinning in addition to what you are presenting about spindle spinning.
Your explanation about drafting across the top is the first I've heard that makes any sense. I've watched lots of tutorials where they say it's all about moving your thumb. You are the first person who followed that information with “draft where your thumb ISN’T pinching!” I,ve spent nearly a year not getting how to do draft across the top, and thinking I’m just incapable because moving my thumb wasn’t helping me draft in different sections. So thank you SO very much! harpingJanet

I just found you 🥰 and LOVED your video especially as a new spinner to both wheel and Spindle. I am involved in a year long Breed Study, with 16 different not so common breeds. Each sample I am experimenting a sample on my wheel (varying weights) and also drop spindle (varying weights). Today I was spindling and was picking out my spindle. It caused me to wonder if there is a method to matching your spindle choice to the characteristics of a particular fiber?? Is there a range of weight that works best for specific spindle weight. Any discussion on this topic would help this new spinner....thnx for what you do 😊

You mentioned you rarely spin Corriedale, is there a reason? What are your preferred breeds or types to spin? Any you haven’t tried but want to?

Enid Ashcroft spindles are impossible to get because she only lists one or two at a time and unless you are literally on the page when they are listed, you will not get them. I have notifications enabled and in the time it takes me to open the page they are always already gone. This means that they are crazy expensive on the secondary market so, unless you are insanely lucky or absolutely loaded, don't set your heart on one.

Ya, I don’t have any of her spindles anymore. But I know they are good spindles, and ones good enough to be able to confidently say I’d recommend them. Having said that, I’d still rather have a Woodland over and Enid.

I set an alarm and wake up early to start refreshing their pages at least 5 minutes before their posting time, since they are scheduled, and then use one click buy with Etsy or Shopify. I have managed a 100% success rate so far, though I've only tried them once each. I agree that the Woodlands are a nicer than Enids, as much as I like my Enid.
Spindle Shop spindles absolutely give WW and Bosworths a run for their money! They're also pretty tough to get a hold of, but my goodness do they have balanced spin and perfect surface finish.

She always lists them at the same time every Saturday. Set an alarm for a few minutes before and be on her etsy page refreshing often until she loads them.
