Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience! I'm just loving the process of learning how to spin on supported spindles. So much to learn!

I actually had to go up to a heavier and wider spindle in order to spin thin Romney singles, because the Romney fibers are so much stronger than all the fine wools I spin that I needed the additional inertia/torque to overcome its higher torsional rigidity.
I'm probably going to get an Akerworks mini with the removable ball bearings so I can spin laceweight and keep lightening the whorl to offset the cop weight.
My first "fleece" was technically that kid mohair I purchased from a local. The fiber is SUPER NICE, but the way she did the first washing made it a tangled mess, and it was already a tangled mess to begin with. It has SO many incredibly sharp burrs matter into it! I've processed maybe 12 grams of it and the rest is super abandoned 😅 The coated CVM fleece is A DELIGHT to process, and the Shetlands are somewhere in between...
Lovely video! Is your new video the new wheel you purchased? That came a lot faster than expected 😂
Question time: What are your favorite colors to wear? Do you try to precision plan your spin to get the colors to where you want them on the finished garment? What are your favorite color management techniques?
I'm obviously very controlling so I don't think I'll be buying any dyed fiber except monochromatic ones for a while 😅

Fellow stay at home and homeschooling mom here! What does your spinning time look like in your day to day? Do any of your kids like to spin?

Hi Sara, thanks for answering my questions as well. I really appreciate the perspective on spinning from the fold and what to do about the short fibers at the end of dizzing from combs. No worries about the long draw video😊 Enjoy your new wheel, that sounds great! I mostly like the woolen spun yarn I’m getting, it’s just that I get too many pigtails and hard places in the yarn and so I over control it and it takes me so long to get through what I’m spinning. I hear that long draw is what is used for speed production spinning so I’m wanting to be faster but not have to break off so many thin hard spots when I knit with it. I do count treadles when I ply so I’ll try that with my singles too. Thanks again for your help, look forward to your next video. ❤

I tell you what. I’ll do a video next week on some longdraw and another one with my new wheel later. The only thing I can figure is you’re putting WAY too much twist in your singles. Look for that video and hopefully it’ll help you some!

Thanks for answering my question. I’ll definitely look into storage bobbins. I’ve discovered that the drive band on my kiwi 3 just barely stretches over to my bobbin groove allowing me to wind the yarn on my wheel bobbin if someone else treadles for me while I hold the yarn. I’m sure it’s not recommended but at least I can replace the drive band if I have to. Thanks for all you do. Lots of great answers to all the questions.

Kiwis are definitely NOT meant to run in Irish tension. Be careful!!

Thank you so much, you answer questions I always had ! For turkish spindle cops, I’ve always plyed them 2ply , the outside of the cop plyed with the inside end of the same cop. I understand this method adds twist to one of the plys and removes some twist from the other one, is that right? So is this why you put all cops on bobbins, as well as mixing them for evenness and rewinding advantages? Also, so far I have hand wound all my support spindles cops by hand on to paper towels cardboard tubes. I guessed this method was not adding or removing twist from my singles but wasn’t absolutely sure. It takes long so I will get some strorage bobbins with the drill attachment, thanks! And thanks for tge spindle into drinking glass idea… genious !

Thank you for answering my question and all of the questions. I have so much to learn and I do love when you discuss all the technical solutions.
I LOVE a neatly wound cop, can you give tips on making it even and neat?

Hi Sarah! Thank you for the video. I wanted to purchase the Rosie's storage bobbins from the woolery and I asked if they have something that can connect them to a drill and they said no, you need a two ended winder for these. But after, I saw an item called "Rosie's Bobbin Speed Winder Insert" that looks like it could work. Is that what you would get ? I would be willing to get an akerworks lazykate in order to be able to use these. Thanks !!

Hi Josée! Yes. That is the insert you’d want. Others have left reviews for the speed winder and said they used the Rosie bobbins with it perfectly!! If you’re in a real pinch you can also use a chopstick with some rubber bands on the bobbin ends to wind that way too. But I’d recommend going the speed winder route! Thank you so much for watching and becoming a channel member!!

@@SpinningSara my pleasure! I am happy to learn anything reguarding spinning and using handspun yarns (I knit a lot and need to use my handspun more). I am very glad to have found your channel and very grateful for all the tips and knowledge you share!
