The fingers example at 2:53 is fascinating - I've never though about it in those terms.

On your Gibson why is there a different key on the G string?

  • @mgd9151
    @mgd9151 3 роки тому +5

You said start at the root then go up two whole steps to find the root. But those notes(strings) aren't part of the chord you play afterward. It can lose people.

agreed, I usually like their vids, I disliked when she did that

In this case, C is the root. Go up two whole steps to get the third. She misspoke and said 'root' again, but if you had paid attention before that, you should know what she meant. From the third, go up a step and a half to find the fifth. She started on C, the third is E, and the fifth is G.
Next, she played the C major triad which she had just explained is the root (or one), three, and five. Or C, E, G. So your complaint is wrong. Pro tip: if you feel lost, try to comprehend before you criticize.

@@gatoryak7332 I seriously doubt you're a pro. I've been operating a recording company for over 30 years and just recently decided to pick up another instrument, guitar. The whole thing about learning is you're not supposed to know when you start off. Professionals do not speak like you ass. Pro tip: If know one asked you, don't say shit

Triads are an important part of theory, well at least melody and harmony

Jimmy Page would fly up the fret board using triads so that every note was in tune .
Great way of explaining triads .

      TDLR:
      A triad is a three-note chord
Major Triad is the R, 3 and 5
Minor Triad is the R, 3♭ and 5
*R meaning root which is your starting point and can be whatever you want
*♭ meaning flat which is simply you go back half step.

Repetition helps. There are a lot of guitar teachers on this platform and many have beginner lessons on triads and other theory concepts. Watch as many teachers as it takes for you to understand, eventually you'll find someone with a teaching style that clicks for you. Learning this stuff takes time so don't give up if one lecture doesn't connect, you have lots of other options.

I really disagree where you get the minor from. It is derived from the submediant. All scales (modi included) should be related to the major scale.
This is not helping or helpful.

If when you write 'this' you mean your comment, then I agree with you. It is not helpful.
The subject of the video is "Triads". Triads do not have the submediant (fancy word for the sixth scale tone). Triads are chords made up of scale tones 1, 3, and 5. In a minor scale, the third tone is a half-step lower than the third tone of the major scale.
