Hey Christine. 2020 taught me a LOT. One was why was I spending $200 every 6 to 7 weeks highlighting and low lighting my hair to cover up my gray hair??? Then it clicked… 💡💡💡 Ditch the color and EMBRACE my true self, gray hair and all. I have never been happier with my virgin salt and pepper hair❤ 🤩🤗🙌🏻 My hair now has natural highlights and low lights ❤ I love it!!! Why try to be someone who we are not?? Natural Salt and pepper hair for the win 🏆❤❤🎉

Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments.Starting early is simply the best way of getting ahead to build wealth , investing remains a priority . I learnt from my last year's experience , I am able to build a suitable life beause I invested early ahead this time .

When you talked about financial goals, I was thinking about the similarities to fitness goals. On aging, we brought home our last child, to adopt, from the hospital at age 47. We already had 6 other kids in our home. So the short story is I did not take care of my health. The end of April, my husband and I committed to getting healthy, and I have lost almost 50lbs. More importantly, I am exercising in some way six times a week, never have I ever! I have muscles, I can do so many things I couldn't do before. Yes, go move your body, and change the way you eat. You won't regret it!! That baby is now 11yo, and in less than 4 weeks I will turn 59! It is not too late for anyone!

As you get older you realize it is state of mind. I often have to stop and think “how old am I?” I will be 70! At the end of the month but still feel decades younger.
Also when I wanted to purchase a house I kept track of my spending for several months and was surprised at how much I spent on “little” things that I thought weren’t a big deal but they took a lot of my budget.
Love your channel and your energy.

I just checked my savings this year. I save $1687.13 from January through October to date just on groceries. I am a scrooge when it comes to spending money, getting coupons and fuel point savings. I am 70 yo. I actually enjoy cleaning houses for Seniors. They pay $90-$125 for 3 hours work. I also clean for realtors on move outs. $$$$. I went out to eat after church 2 weeks ago with a group. $40. I almost had a panic attack. The rest acted like that was the normal. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

I could have made that at home for a fraction of the cost.

If you go out again, look at the appetizer menu. Though they can be pricey too, depending where you go. Sometimes a main entree is more worth it if you take half home for another meal. Makes the pain more bearable. No alcohol and drink water with lemon.

But, I was feeling very heavy and slow. I needed the help. A good personal trainer can actually save you time by developing a workout schedule that addresses your specific needs. You don’t just wander into the gym and fumble around. Anyway, I think I’m one of those healthy old people you talk about. Except for some arthritis in my hands, I live pretty much pain free. I can walk, climb stairs, and stand for long periods of time. My bone density is off the charts for my age.I’m overweight, still, but active. Exercise is the key.

As always, you have great, practical tips. My advice would be to start EARLY! From childhood start saving 10% off the top and put it in savings, high yield, and stocks/bonds/mutual funds for compound interest. You can’t rely that your life won’t go sideways where your health or life takes a dive. I am now disabled and without an income. I’m grateful that I have a lifetime habit of saving $ and living frugally ❤

    • @kathychatterton5623
      @kathychatterton5623 25 днів тому +1

Better late than never. I didn’t really start saving until I divorced in my mid 30s. I was still able to retire early at age 60. I intentionally cut my self a bit short when I first retired, figuring I could go back to work if I had to, I decided a bit of frugality was better than working a job I had come to hate. I’m in my 70s now and never had to go back to work. And subsequently have more income than when I retired by watching my spending. I’m living on my retirement income and still saving about 40% of my income. When our house over 100 years old needs a repair or upgrade, we pay for it in total, not taking on debt at my age. If it isn’t an emergency we save for a major expenditure. Mostly by making savings a priority, living more frugally than absolutely necessary. I still want treats in my life so indulge in some but not all desires. And I’d also suggest something I learned while still working; only discuss finances with friends and family that share and support your goals. When I established a “spending plan” I stuck with it. Almost everyone I know has heard me say, “Can’t do it, it isn’t in the budget.” That wasn’t completely true, I could do whatever it was if I was willing to trash my long term goals and plans. More accurate would have been to say, “ I can’t make myself risk my future security for a fun weekend on the other side of the country.” A frugal friend and I were talking that it was great to be a the point in our lives when we could afford, whatever we wanted. She laughed and said “the trick is to not want too much”.

When I first started the video, I thought, Oh no! What has she done to her hair? I would highly recommend not coloring your hair this dark, and better yet, just let the natural gray come! It is all about your mindset. You don't look "old" at all and should not stress about gray hair. Life is too short for such things! I got my first gray hairs in my early 30's and colored my hair for years. It became such a hassle I finally stopped and have never regretted it! Now I get compliments all the time on my silver hair, that shines in the sunlight. Wisdom comes with age, and gray hair is a reflection of that, enjoy it!

So, maybe if there's a way to do it safely and put a post on facebook that people can message you if they have free furniture but don't want to haul it off to the dump or dumpster. They could just let you know, then haul it out to their curb or whatever. Just an idea because I hate seeing good furniture go to waste and it's awesome that you're able to fix it up so it gets new life.

Meantime we changed jobs for better, I shelf-cooking for YEARS!, have crappy car but it runs on so little gas money... BUT the feeling I don't have to worry about money it sooo liberating! Now I homeschool my youngest, which is a full time job, haul my middle child to school and back, do all the domestic stuff while my husband has his regular shift work job, and thought, 'holy smokes, how would I even have time or energy at this point to do a side hustle?' I loved this video, and would love to set a couple goals, but I think my priority right now is just to get my kids through school and their teens with the best outlook possible. I see your logic, but isn't the purpose of "buy nothing" groups to give away the items no longer needed to those who would use them. They were never meant for profit, so flipping items from there feels like taking advantage of someone's good will. If the original owners knew you are planning to flip, maybe they would choose to give the item to someone else

Depends, my friends and I used to go to Starbucks a couple of times a week after water aerobics. It was a budgeted expense that let a bunch of women of various ages and very different lives connect and build friendships and support systems. Well worth the less than $10 a week I spent. I could save money elsewhere. Some of those women have died, but others of us still get together occasionally. It was worth every penny.

Your comment about gray hair made me chuckle. I had my first couple white hairs at twelve.

    Great advice, Christine!
The best advice that I have for saving for retirement is start early ... with your first paycheck. I started working when I was 18 and, of course saving money was foreign to me LOL I quickly learned, though.
Decide on a certain amount and payroll deduct it. I started out with an annuity when I was in my late 20s and was able to start collecting monthly checks when I retired 9 years ago, along with SS and my pension.
I also had 2 separate credit union accounts that I had money payroll deducted to. If I didn't see it, I didn't spend it, but it was there if I needed it. Several years ago, I started an emergency fund and was able to use it this year to pay cash for a new (to me) car when my old reliable wasn't any more.
These are just some ways to save money that have worked for me.
I realize that everyone's situation is different ... a large family with 2 incomes is different from a single mom or a single person.
