Bought one today because my 8 year old flat screen's built in digital tuner started acting up. Only picked up about 3 main channels. This is a good inexpensive alternative to throwing away the set in a landfill and spending a few hundred on a new one. It's great that it has an HDMI output, and it's capable of recording shows. I pick up lots of stations beautifully, and the sound and picture is phoenominal! Makes my older set work like new! This is a very good investment if you want to cut the cord.
This unit works great on older Tube TVs But it works great on Widescreen TVs. especially if you put a splitter before the unit and run the other side of the splitter straight to the TV's RF connector, then run the other side of the splitter to the box then out to the TV with HDMI or component hookups depending on what all you have hooked to your TV. This gives you the option to watch one station while recording a different station. Now if you can run the HDMI out to the TV, then you can also hook the component hookups to an older VCR and record on tape instead of the USB slot. In the USB slot you can also hook up an external hard drive. I love these boxes. I have 2 and I'm going to buy a third for the Old Man Cave! Yes I have 3 stereo VCR's
When buying these pull up the MENU and select the System (GEARS) and then Information to read the Model Number, Software Version: , & Hardware Version: Note the date(s) many of these units are refurbished returns that have NOT had any upgrades and are still using 2015 or 2016 software and even older hardware.
I purchased this converter box and was wondering if it is possible to record at a lower quality format? I cant seem to find the setting. I recorded a 1hr show last night and it took up 7GB of space. Im trying to record at a lower quality in order to save space on my flash drive
Guys, i bought this converter box, tuned my Orion 13' TV to channel 3, turned it on, and all i got at the end of the logo was static! Seriously?! my Orion TV is 1999! Doesn't even have composite video..
This is one of those companies that makes themselves hard to contact after the sale. Their customer service contact page is useless. Mine has worked fine, but sometimes double scans a channel so I have 2 of certain channels. Wish I knew how to delete one of each.
This sounds like my problem. My remote will turn the box on, but it won't do anything else. If I switch batteries do you think that would solve my problem?

I reset box which i believe was holding the power button while turning off and then power back on while still holding down power. My problem is i forgot my password. I did it before but after moving, i can't remember. HOW DO YOU RESET PASSWORD IN (MENU) UNDER PROGRAM EDIT
I had the same problem and found a fix on Walmart's site. Fix: Use the RCA cables to the TV from the converter box. Set TV to Channel 3 Press "input select, on TV remote control and then I got the setup screen! hope this works for you.

Did you choose cable? Use the left and right arrows to switch to Antenna/Air.

It can connect to antenna and QAM Signals (QAM signals are Cable) the satellite dish was to show an antenna.
