You know what I love about Hermes? He's the god of communication, thieves, AND commerce. Like I swear if that doesn't describe every media company today I don't know what else would.
Yeah... but it's not that the streaming services are trying to stay competitive in terms of obtaining customers. This man is confused.
They are trying to get more money from the fewer consumers that they have.
Why do these companies have less consumers? Well, it's because now that there are so many streaming services, each with their own considerable buying power all competing to take profitable movies and shows from the other, which means that the price to retain those media, and get new ones, is higher.
This means every single streaming companies' expenses are getting higher.
And while this is happening (because customers rarely do more than three streaming services. In fact, they often only do one), the amount of customers are getting spread out over multiple new streaming services. So streaming services have less customers than they once did, so less revenue.
If expenses are increasing, and revenue is decreasing, that almost always means that prices are going to rise, especially because consumer demand appears to be inflexible (meaning customers often stay even though they are getting price hikes) when prices are involved.
I wanted to watch a movie franchise that had two movies. One was one platform and the other was on another platform. This is too accurate to life.
The CW-verse had a similar phenomenon to this, where the crossovers had one part in each of the involved series, and you had to get all the box sets to get the whole story.
The Muses would be pissed about this.

I could actually see the Telegomy being the most popular (or infamous) MTOlymp+ original myth. They got the rights to Homers properties and made the sequel people had been begging for. But it couldn’t be a nice, peaceful sequel about Odysseus’ reign and life in Ithaca- that’s way too boring. It had to be action packed- filled with travel to far-away lands, unnecessary love triangles, fighting Gods and a tragic death. Those who hadn’t read the book loved it. Many fans of the original, however, despised how much it contradicts or weakens the original myth. Odysseus spent ten YEARS trying to get back to Penelope- why would he then go MARRY SOMEBODY ELSE?! He spent nearly 20 years desperately trying to return to Ithaca just to LEAVE AGAIN?! Also, did they even read Tiresias’ prophecy?! He literally says Odysseus dies of old age, not killed by a son that didn’t exist in the main myth. The Homer Epics Fandom say that it isn’t canon and try to pretend it doesn’t exist.
Yeah, the Telegony is like the Cursed Child of the Trojan Cycle.
Disney in a nutshell:
Except even with the content partitioning of the streaming wars, they're mostly unaffected. They are the reason why Disney cartoons can't be watched on places like Nettlfix and Amazon Prime though. And admittedly they grant silent oblivion of obscurity to their anime catalogue... But a lack of content is not a problem there.

Hades sometimes invites other Underworld & Death gods (Anubis, Hel, Izanami, Osiris, Arawn, etc) to come over for a glass of wine and a chat. Persephone & Hel are good friends and talk about their lives and parent issues.
Poseidon is still that unlikable sex offender who ruined Medusa and is constantly ruining other women’s lives in other mythologies just like his brother.
Aphrodite has started a strip club and model business. But fires women who she views as “more attractive than her”.
Hephaestus’ blacksmithing skills has improved so much that he can craft sentient cars.
Meanwhile Loki & Hermes are besties 😊🤙✨
Also, Hades, Persephone, and the dead celebrities of Ancient Greece gather for bowling night while Heracles becomes dog sitter for Cerberus.
