He helped paved the way for bebop drumming. Mr. Clark was a soulful, clean, crisp technician who could kick any kind of a band. He was a magnificent musician. France really loved him too.
one really fantastic drummer. Kennys style is so clean and precise, its a joy to listen to him. Each note and phrase is so carefully executed. Unlike alot of drummers who overplay with to much technique. What a solid professional!!
I don’t get it why everybody doesn’t like this camerawork. I love it and I’m a drummer, the angles are really unusual for those times, very interesting
They are so focused on close shots that as a viewer I feel like I don’t have a great idea of where everything actually was until the very end. It seemed too disorientating for what was happening
How lucky was European jazz and especially France to have great Kenny Clarke playing regularly with all the different Big Bands and small groups and making everybody swing! It was reason enough for many American jazz musicians to move to Paris.
Kenny is not praised enough (imho) for bringing a strong pop and punch to the many albums he's been recorded on. His style is pretty straightforward here but he was always a staple of the Vanguard of great jazz drummers....and a lot of other famous drummers took their cues from him. Bonus: He clearly loves playing for the tune and the fans.
He always had great technique! Totally underrated drummer! Need more of these videos.
He founded that style of drumming. He was as important for modern jazz as: Monk, Parker, Gillespie, Pettiford.
The father of the Be Bop Sound, thanks for posting
He looks so happy when he plays. A joyful noise.
But it's not noise. It's composed and brilliant played drum music
@@marceibel1131 It's an expression.

I keep thinking he going to bite his tongue.
Che grandi pionieri! Che maestri! Una musicalità immensa e una grande umiltà.

Cameramen would be sacked for this today.

We all love a charismatic drummer 😂 Very nice
Great solo and footage. It's the 60s. The people complaining about camera have not style or taste .
YEAH!!! 💥
hollywood meazzi una bomba !
Credo sia il modello "President", rullante in acciaio, reggirullante con snodo "a sfera". Genio italico d'altri tempi...!
Sì è quella. Con il rullante Metaltone. Io ho una President colore LO

Who was the cameraman?
Song?
If I was a drummer watching this I think I'd be jumping up and down with excitement.! Not keen on the camera work.
What's the band?
stylé
anyone know how to find the chart for this composition.. is it called Nervus?
Hi, have you found it yet? I could use it for a music project I'm working on
Great drumming. However, I wish I could have seen more of his action than the close-ups of his face.
KLOOK MOP
Mop Mop !!!
Terrible cameraman
What brand of drums ?
The badge looks like Hollywood Meazzi, which would make sense because they were made in Italy. www.vintagedrumguide.com/meazzi.html
I agree, way too many extreme close-ups. especially of the musicians' faces.
@@joellafargue9882 You are supposed to be listening to it.
@@SuperMikado282 Maybe I'm fussy, but I like to actually see what the performers are doing.
@@joellafargue9882 When we listened to music on L.P.s we didn't think about visuals.....it was ear training.
See Art and Elvin got power from klook
I wannabe a drummer.
