Hey Van, congratulations on 200k! As a veteran I feel I should point out to people that thanking veterans and those serving now is not the point. We are grieving and celebrating our fallen service members. Although service members appreciate the thanks, I'm sure many feel as I do; it's not about us vets or the active members, it's about our fallen brothers and sisters.. You can't thank them face to face but you can remember them, celebrate them, and grieve them.
Again, I thank you for your appreciation, I just don't want this to become another veterans day, let the dead have their day please.

The song "Wake Me Up When September Ends" was written by Billie Joe about his father who died of cancer and the title is the words he said to his mother after his father died. The music video was directed by Samuel Bayer who brought the idea of an Iraq War themed video. The video was not made to the song's literal meaning but Armstrong felt it appropriate considering the song's theme of loss.

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" was written by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong about his father, who died from esophageal cancer in September 1982, when Armstrong was 10 years old...The Video was directed by Samuel Bayer who wanted to make it an Iraq War themed video...and Congrats on 200k

“American Idiot” is a rock opera/play written during Bush the Younger’s 2nd term. Kinda post apocalyptic America. It was made into a play on Broadway. I saw it at the University of Texas in 2014. There’s a lot of good music on both albums.

Wake Me Up When September ends written about the passing of Billie Joe's father is amazing. It was released in 2005, my father passed in September of that year and it strangely helped me through the loss.

The song was used in the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The music video (glad you watched it!) was all for the song if I remember right.

This track is from the album of the same name, released in 2009. It also appeared in their Broadway musical 'American Idiot,' that premiered the next year. The musical won a couple of Tony Awards and the show album won a Grammy. Taking my family to see them in August here in Philly & looking forward to that BIG TIME. Congrats on the 200K my brother!
